Re: Team 24 Cold here in Illinois this week. I had frost again this morning when I headed out to work. Won't get a chance to hunt again until Sat though. I've been trying some out of the way places, hoping to find where one of the big boys lives. No luck so far. I have seen a number of smaller bucks and does. I'll whack one soon I hope. Good luck all!

Re: Team 24 Went out for our opener on Sunday and was skunked. 88 degrees when I went out at 4 and still 75 when I came out at 7:15. Gonna be hotter still next few days. Good luck all!

Re: Team 24 Good by me. Weather looks good for our Sunday opener. Gonna skip sunday AM and hunt Sunday afternoon. I have a 4 day weekend the next weekend so I'll hit it hard then. Good luck all!

Re: Team 24 I PM'ed NS WHITETAIL and Broncho10 to make sure they are still on the team. By my count they are the last two to check in. Other comments or suggestions for team name? My opener is Sunday too. I'll be out that afternoon. Gonna whack a doe if I can. (Of course a buck is not out of the question if he is large enough) Good luck all!

Re: Student loan rant There is little incentive to get your Masters and become a "Highly Qualified" Teacher when you pay $10K and get back a raise of about $400/year. Doesn't pay the interest on the loan. BTW, a starting teacher in my district gets about $24,000 and we top out at about $50,000 with 35 years experience and a Masters degree plus 24 hours towards a Doctorate Degree. I started teaching in 1980 at about $12,500. My college degree cost me about $25,000 in 1970's dollars. Makes ya wonder why people teach. It is not for the money. They gotta love kids to stick around.

Re: OK, Breaktime\'s Over This from son Lane- "Uncle Chris-We hope you are feeling better so we will keep praying for you for ever and ever. We hope you are going to hunt this year. That's good" Best news of my day. Keep on the rehab so the kids at school don't wear you out too bad when you get back. Arn

Re: Illinois hunt Bachelor groups are breaking up and hunting a feed pattern is less reliable. Bucks are making a lot of rubs and staking out territories.(Often at night due to heat) Water sources close to food may be the key. As has been mentioned though, a good one can come by at any time. Good luck!

I was given an old double barreled muzzleloading shotgun today and hope someone can tell me something about it. It is a 12 gauge side by side with the following engraving: J. Richards on each side Wire S.Twist on the rib. The gun has quite a bit of engraving so it may have been a showpiece at one time, Now it is in rough condition. It may have some history behind it and I'd like to possible shoot it one day. Any information would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Re: Happy Birthday Ohiobucks Happy Birthday bud! Seems we have a little more in common than our rugged good looks! I'll be 49 on Sunday. Have a great day and don't let Tominator take advantage of you.

Re: The North American #1 Guns I've had the year from ****. I had an infected tooth during the rut, a cold during the shotgun season, my Mom was diagnosed with cancer in October and passed away December 11 and yesterday I admitted my wife in the hospital with pneumonia. She'll be in for a few days. I have until Jan 12. I'll keep getting out when I can. The time in the tree is therapeutic for me.

Re: The North American #1 Guns I missed a doe last night at 35 yards. Forgot to hold low enough for her drop. I'll be back out a few days in the next week or so. I haven't given up. Good luck all! Merry Christmas to you all.

Re: The North American #1 Guns I plan on hunting some more later in the week. Today I get out at 2PM for two weeks(I am a teacher). I'll have some responsibilities, but not many. My mother passed away last week on Sunday evening so I spent the week with family rather than hunting. I plan on spending some time in a tree to soothe my spirit. Right now I am pretty low. Good luck to all and have a Blessed Christmas. LLBUX

Re: The North American #1 Guns I have had no time to go out this week to look. Hopefully I can get back out this weekend and stick one with my arrow.

Re: The North American #1 Guns Saw 9 Sat and 10 Sunday afternoons. All were 80+ yards away. Missed one late this afternoon.(at least I think so, I'll be going out again tomorrow to look for it) Wish me luck in the recovery!

Re: The North American #1 Guns Saw 4 bucks and 7 does tonight in the half hour of hunting time I had after school. All just a bit too far. I'll be hunting Sat and Sunday trying to get a good buck for the team. Good luck all!
