  1. i've had a bunch of weird experiences over the years. in the late '70's, rilda and i stopped along the highway as 2 eagles were attacking a fully mature 14" antelope buck. after about 1/2 hour of bombing him, he was on his belly and they both landed for the kill, and started eating him. another time a hunter's son, about 14, shot a doe antelope from about 200 years. immediately, a young buck ran over, got on his knees and started breeding the dead doe. we literally walked right up on the small buck and he still would not leave. i kicked him hard in the butt, and he finally ran off. 3 years ago you may remember a post where connie and i were out fishing, and about 200 years was was a bald eagle swimming. we thought it was drowning. as we watched, he swam about 10 minutes to shore, then dragged a 8 lb. salmon ashore to eat. seems eagles will all the time get something too big to carry, and do this. i'm told they often drown as they refuse to let go of whatever it is they have, and will die rather than let go of dinner.
  2. i don't know either. maybe a question for scott
  3. I hope everyone here has a great 2016. Fun, love, prosperity, and hunting. Hey, the gobblers are only a few months away.... lol
  4. i fought the wolves in yellowstone from before the start. from the inceptual idea. i went to some of the meeting, actually calling out the liars and their lies. the park service was not happy to see me. yea, it's the wolves. if we ever get a washington with common sense, they will issue a "shoot on site" order. wolves are bad for all america.
  5. it was a white christmas in cheyenne, but only 6-8". actually, that's pretty perfect. i'm not big on the 3-4 foot storms.
  6. no news on this is good news. stay safe everyone

  10. that is totally wonderful news, norm. you can't really be expected to hold that good news in. we all see the bad news on a daily basis. i welcome this news. always \
  11. hopefully, ruth. but remember, i'm 68 and coutin'. lol surprisingly few elk on the refuge. i'm guessing under 1,000. it used to be 14 to 18,000 per year and sometimes more. it's the wolves.

  17. merry christmas to your entire family
  18. a nice, uneventful trip. weather was great, no snow storms, and the truck is a delight. we're back in wyoming for a couple of months, or until the kids kick us out.. lol
  19. to wyoming, that is. tough to leave alaska, but the grandkids need some attention. instead of driving, we're flying into boise to pick up a new truck. the old duramax is great, even with 260,000 on it. i'll keep that and connie gets a new one. from boise, we'll see jackson hole and the elk refuge. i was the first of 2 to actually be able to guide hunters on the elk refuge itself. for those who don't know what that means, i was allowed to hunt a strip about 5 miles wide and 10 miles long, that held an average of 14,000 elk each winter. ever wonder why i'm 100% on 6 x 6 or larger elk? lol. i always tell folks it's because i cheat. we should be in gillette about saturday night.
