Re: Pics of Dead Turk Target Lil more info. The other night I tried to order a Rhino/Nitro combo from wingsupply for my SBE 1 and left a comment stating to make sure it was the choke for the SBE1 and not the SBE2. They called the next morning and said they only offer 2 chokes and they both were for the SBE2 and they said it'd be 2 wks before they get the nitro in. So I just asked them to cancel my order. So happy I did now. I'd take lead 5's over the "dove load" of 7 1/2's any day. But I do admit ur guys targets sure look nice with those million holes in them.

This one isnt going anywhere. Tried out those Flight Control #5's the other day. They do seem to be a bit louder and kick a hair more than rem hevishot and winchesters. This is the 3 1/2 load at 40yds thru a madmax choke. [/image] This is the backside of the cardboard is was attached to. [/image]

Re: First timer here posting pic haha Yes its the benelli version. Never seen the other before. I love it and it throws a very nice pattern with the new flightcontrol wads in 5's. 3 1/2 of course since im still a youngbuck that can take it.

Re: Some more from last season Yea you could say i've been lucky with em. I never really thought about keeping the beards and spurs before when I was in high school. Stupid kid. haha But from here on out I plan too.

[/image] These are from the last 2 years hunting Spring birds in NY and SC. They range from 11 to 9 inches.

Re: First timer here posting pic haha Of course haha.. Theres always a bunch in my secret spot. Deer season I watched a group of 7 adult toms under my treestand a few times. Then theres the jakes and hens running around. I always take my buddies out and usually fill their tags as well.

[/image] Here's my second bird from last spring. It was day 2 of the season.

Re: New decoy set... Now what? I only use decoys when hunting fields, not in woods. And I try to set the decoys out in front of me but past me in the opposite direction I think they'll come in from. Last year I limited out with two big daddys the first 2 days. And had gobblers coming in after both shots and jumping on my dead birds. I think NY should up there tags for turkeys instead of deer. Saw a flock of 45-50 waiting in the same spot yesterday as I sat last year.

Re: Season Opener Today: How to save on Turkey loads. Very nice job there. I see you were in the blind and was just wondering if you shot through that mesh or pushed the gun barrel through a opening. Nice shot either way. C'mon May 1st.

Re: T/C Encore load\'s My encore prefers the Winchester platinum tips in 260 grains with 2 777 pellets behind it. My pops wasnt' impressed with the shockwaves anymore after he shot 3 deer the last couple years and none of them went down very quickly. We recovered 2 of the deer and it appears that the bullets fragments into pieces upon impact. All involved some tracking and he saw the results of some of the deer I shot this year during gun season and is making the switch over. I'm looking at the 1 bullet I recovered from a doe facing me at 150+ yards and it is completely all there in one piece and expanded to twice its diameter with the petals sticking out and wrapping back a bit. It's definetly what I'm looking for a bullet to do on game.

Re: What do you like to see in a hunting video? I enjoy seeing what caliber guns the hunters are using and what loads as well. I would like to see the time stamped in the bottom corner or the screen and does and normal bucks being taken. I don't put much skill into these deer hunts that they shoot monsters on day 3 of the hunt. Would rather seen some backyard bucks locally being harvested. Come on up to some state land in NY and do that in 3 days buddie. Good Luck

Re: Question for Encore owners Huge difference over the stock pad. I have the Sims and I'm very happy with it.

Re: Seen Turkeys... but no Gobblers I've been seeing 2 flocks of turkeys walking under my treestand. 1st group contains about 30 hens and lil ones and the other is a group of 8 mature toms.

Re: Need a new sight, how about some advice! I have the cosmic sight and love it. Very bright and can see until well after last shooting light.

Re: Platinum tips are working great Well I don't have any problems with them loading, but I'm 23 and a country boy if ya get what I'm saying. I did reload once after shooting and missing on my side. I know it doesn't make much sense but I got a load in fairly easily without putting the stock down on the ground and using the ground as leverage to push down against. I've also shot about 15 shots with just a wet patch and and dry patch in between shots. I did have problems when I first brought it to the range with my dad testing out the shockwaves. Thinking about them these are way easier but by no means loose. Sorry if this doesn't help ya much but I would say you shouldnt have a problem and I don't consider them loose like I've heard of the powerbelts being.

Re: Platinum tips are working great Just picked my deer up and the butcher found he found the bullet. Very nice mushroom about double the size it was.Looks like it is all still in one piece. Said he found it behind some ribs laying against the hide.

Re: Platinum tips are working great Good thing the seasons just about over. Loaded the encore with the last one of the pack. Tuesday's the final day here in NY. Now I gotta get to Wally World and find em on clearance again this year. Yes they are the 260 Grainers behind 2 777 pellets. This deer there was no exit hole I don't think. Was facing me and I did the field dressing in the dark, then went straight to the butchers and bull**** for a few. But the other 2 deer that were shot broadside had exit holes. The buck that ran 10 yards had a easy trail from where he stood.
-
Shot another doe tonight with the encore. 180 yards dropped dead, never even flinched. This one was looking up towards me with her head up. Nailed her between her shoulders. That's the third deer I've taken with these bullets. Two does dropped in their tracks and a huge 8pt that ran 10 yards or so. All were longer than 100 yards. Wish they'd take a few more steps but guess it doesnt matter when the guns shoots this good.

Re: Food plot seed choices yea it's freezin here ny 7 degrees at 10AM yea good thing I had a final this morning so I didn't have to freeze

has anyone ever experienced the second rut around them up here? I've never really been deerless that late into the season. Another site said it can be better than the first rut. Anyone have any ideas on when this might occur?? thanx

Re: Best 3x9x(40 or 50)scope....in the $150-$350 range I'd go with the burris fullfield II or the Bushnell Elite 3200. Prolly lean more towards the Elite for 200.00 Love the Rainguard. Had my Nikon out last nite in the rain and was very blurry with water on the lense. -
Picking up a 204 Ruger accutrigger from Savage tomorrow. Have class tonight so I'll have to wait one more day. It's on sale for 379.99 with a scope of somesort. hope the yotes around here will like it..

Winchester muzzleloader primers???
paul23 replied to str8shooter48's topic in Bluelk's Muzzleloader Room
Re: Winchester muzzleloader primers??? I'm guessing on this one but I know not all primers are waterproof. Some have like a clear schalack (clear paint kinda) that keeps water out. I use the Win. primers as well. I've never looked at the normal ones to see thou. -
Re: NY\'s deer season for souther tier well lets say in another county we have a record high deer take. What would you say when the DEC decides that because of this, all counties must of been the same way even if it doesnt' show it from reported numbers. They think it must be more poachers in the area or that people are shooting bucks and tagging them but just not calling the telephone number to report their take. The system is screwed up and has been for years. Plain and simple. How would you like going from a bad year of not seeing deer with most other counties in the tier having a successful year. And in return all you have to look forward to is a even worst year in the following year??
-
Re: NY\'s deer season for souther tier I heard last night on the news the DEC had some sort of report and they are stating that this is going to be the worst deer take in 50 years. Well no sh#@. Why don't you take more of the public knowledge and not blame it on the weather. YOUR GIVING OUT TO MANY PERMITS, MORE AND MORE EVERY YEAR. Think you'd figure it out. There's has to be more knowledgeable people out there.
