  1. Photo's were moved, so here's Pictures of the Spurs and Beard. Sorry. Beard, Spur 1, Spur 2, With Metal Check Station Tag
  2. I already posted this in the Women Hunters section, But I'm darn proud of this Gobbler so here's another post! ;D A Different Picture too! lol Anything and Everything that could go wrong did this season, from missed shots, coyotes, henned up birds, call shy, over calling, you name it! Hopefully this bird will mean a better 2008 season though. This is also what my Dad and I think to be the same gobbler that we called in to 20-30 yards last week but I couldn't get a shot through a wall of saplings he was strutting behind. We Started off hunting this bird in the morning but he chose to go to a real Hen besides coming to a Friends Mouth Call. He quit Gobbling and we decided it was time to go to another spot where hopefully they were gobbling. We did and sure enough there was one gobbling. We tried to get on him but he went away from the call and finally shut up on us. So we got back in the truck and were driving past the spot we were hunting earlier and guess who was out in the field?! Yep that darn bird we were hunting earlier. So my Dad dropped me and our Friend off and we took off getting around to this bird. No sooner did I get my face mask on did he gobble not 75 yards away! He's got a Darn Good Gobble on him too! We were able to get to a Wood Pile and hide behind it. I had a nice rest on it, but if the bird came around us to the right side I would have to swing the gun around it and use my friend as a shooting rest if need be. So as it played out my friend called to him and he responded straight out in front of us. The next time he gobbles however is to the right more and really Close! I slowly moved that gun up and over to the right and over top my friend back as he's hunched over so I can shoot and clicked the safety off. Seconds later here's the bird!! Coming off a slight rise, Big Red Jelly Headed Bird too! He's at 20 Yards and moving slowing to the right looking around...I let him have it!! After not getting one last year this was the best!! When I was standing over this bird my legs were shaking 100mph, or so it looked!! It Was Awesome! 5" 1/2" Beard - Frozen/Broken Off 16 1/2 Pounds 1" Spurs This is Him,
  3. Last Day and Last Couple hours I bagged me a Mature Gobbler! 5. Last Day of Season was today team... And I Got One! 16 1/2 lbs - 5 1/2" Beard - 1" Spurs Pictures and Entry to follow. He wasn't a Jake, his beard had actually Frozen off it appreared. Not bad for the last day to say the least, just wished my Dad could have gotten one too. Down at the check station they were weighing in some nice longbeards and they only wieghed 15lbs! That was hard to believe.
  6. Slugs! Sticky little things that I just can not stand. Ticks are a close second also!
  7. Congrads to your Dad ny_gun! THings have been going better for me, but still haven;t been able to seal the deal. Had some Jakes come in to 5 yards the one day, but there was a Big Bird Gobbling just out of sight, and he was coming, waited and he turned and started going to the right and the Jakes followed. Then we hit another spot and my friend called up a big old Tom, but he was spooky and came in to about 35 yards and started Putting and turned and stared walking off, I let him have it, but I missed him. Very disappointing to say the least. 3 Days left to fill my tags. Anyone else doing good?
  8. Mossberg 500 20Gauge Youth Model. Nice little gun!
  9. Whoohoo, Congrats!! Can't wait to get the pics!! These Ohio birds sure ain't cooperating very well are they for me, I was so close this morning! Here's how it went. We got in there and planned to set up down in a small bottom, well we saw a hen in the tree in front of us so we backed up slightly and set up. Meanwhile that gobbler is just a shouting off. So my Dad starts calling and he answers. This is a typical morning!! Finally we got one that will work some. Then a loud motorcycle or something went down the road and he flew off right roost about then and let loose a gobble much closer...Then I see him coming through the bottom. Wouldn't you know it right where we wanted to be? All he had to do was keep coming straight for us and we'd have him. I took the safety off... But he decided to cut to the right and start strutting not 30yards, but blocking my shot was a wall of saplings, otherwise...Dead Bird Walking! My dad was a playing that call trying to get him over more, but to no avail. One call the gobbler wasn't ready for was one my dad does naturally. It's a little "click" sound, kinda like the spit sound they make while strutting. He perked his head up, looking... and starts taking steps closer.... Until he then goes into strut again and back and forth he goes. We worked and worked him, but he refused to come anymore. He then lost interest and walked off into a field and we tried to get on him there but he wasn't as interested. Had to call it a day then. And here I am to tell the tale! He was a very small looking bodied bird for some odd reason, too.

    "Tough"

I like it. I was listening to it before I knew it was his new single. Another good'n one from the CD is "Internaional Harvester" That one Rocks!!
  11. WTG Karen!! What A Bird you got yourself!! Congrads!!
  12. Must just be one of those things I guess. Oh well it didn't sound the greatest anyway.
  13. It seems like a lot of folks of Dirt Bikes around here. I have no problem with them what so ever, heck they look fun to ride, but keep them out of the woods, they sure do a lot of damage to some of the woods/fields.
  14. Grab Your Guns Gals! I see a hunt taking place in PA soon!! lol Wonder when the Women's section is coming out anyway?
  15. Welcome Back! Glad you're enjoying the new job!
  16. I have a few sites that I can't live without! Lots of good members! RealTree is definitely one of them!! But since they all feel like home I like to say they're all different rooms of my home!
  17. *GAG*.... I've been playing with all my mouth calls and I bought 4 pack last year on clearance after T-season. Well I played with one of them about a month before this season started. I followed the directions and rinsed them with Mouth Wash to keep the germs off. Put into a case and slipped them into the Fridge. I pulled them out the other day and the one is full of mold. None of the others were, just this particular one. What would cause it to mold up like that? All I could come up with was the material it was made from. It's like a canvas type tape? Any ideas? Thanks!
  18. Happy Birthday!!! You guys have a great day!!
