  1. Same to you buddy, make it a good one. Merry Christmas!
  2. I had the morning free to myself today, so I treated myself...first I started at daylight and hit the woods for some squirrel hunting. There was a good bit of snow on, so the squirrels weren't on the ground. I used my squirrel call and got one to answer me and after finally getting him in my sights, made about a 50 yard show w/ my .22 WMR. This was the only one that I saw, but I heard several more barking back at me. After this, I went home and wrenched in the garage a little bit. I started my dual sport and let it run for a while...and then I decided to bundle up and take a little ride. Now riding on snow and ice is NOT a good idea, but I took it nice and easy and enjoyed several controlled power slides! Merry Christmas Folks!!

    French Fries

Well....they're Freedom Fries. But last time I was in Canada I wore the Poutine out. Great stuff.
  4. NICE Buck, especially with the bow! Great job my friend.
  5. Great buck William. He is a heck of an 8 point, great job on making it all work out.
  6. Great job, pics, and video. That's the way it's supposed to be! Well done.
  7. How'd this turn out? Any luck? I can understand not wanting to really load up the property with people, but you could go solo and just take a long time to grid it out.
  8. Great deer! That buck looks like a great one, even and symetrical. Well done, glad you all had a good time.

What a trophy with the bow! Great deer Shane.
  10. That looks to be a real good sized deer, should fill the freezer nicely. Great job!
  11. Show us more! I agree, never knew they weren't tame from the start.
  12. AWESOME! Just read the whole story and am happy for you. Well done.
  13. Yep, keep looking and when you finally get to the point of giving up, look some more. That deer is dead, but they can really hide well sometimes. Good luck.
  14. Same here, GREAT job on taking a giant. It's what dreams are made of.
  15. Can't wait to see the pics...WOW, on the hoof he is absolutely stunning.
  16. LOL, I've hunted 'em with bow and arrow before and I know how tough it is. These twitchy little buggers are something else. You just don't like cleaning 'em, do you?!
  17. Thanks folks, yes I'm still pumped over this bird! It was a great day for sure.

    Who is this?

Yeah, I'm thinking it's a mispackage...looks more like the 'other guy'. Is it Nick?
  19. I bowhunted on Friday and had a great day, but never connected. Saturday, Fall Turkey Season opened for select counties so I decided to leave the bow at home and take the shotgun out to break the monotony. The morning started out with the temperature at the farm saying 29 degrees and a heavy frost. As I drove in to the farm, I saw a shooting star shoot across the sky. From bowhunting, I knew where the birds were roosting, so I got in there before daylight and was waiting on it to break. Well I never heard any cackling, any fly downs, or anything from the turkeys, but I did see a few deer sneaking through. I began thanking that the cold weather may be keeping them in the trees longer, so I didn't move, but by 7:30 I started wondering if I was just in the wrong place. I was about to freeze too, with so much walking ahead of me I didn't wear enough warm clothes, so I decided to sneak out and check a field where the sun hits first. Sure enough, as I looked I could see a small group of turkeys here but they were several hundred yards away. Through the binocs I could see that they were just standing, not feeding, and I believe they were just soaking up the heat. So I ended up deciding to try to make a move on them and sneak around the field, and as I went, I saw another small group of turkeys in a closer field. I believe it was a different group because these were feeding by the time I got to them. I tried to use the lay of the field to my advantage and sneak to within shotgun range, but I got picked off when I was about 80 yards from the birds. My sneak turked to an all out sprint and I ran up and straight towards the flock, which broke them up...some flew left, some ran right, by they got broken up quick. I hustled straight to the woodline of a steep hill, sat by a pine and got my call out all the while rushing to get my facemask on. I made several quick regrouping calls and immediately could hear one running in the leaves straight up the hill towards me. I got my shotgun to my knee, forgot about the mask, and pulled the trigger. The 3" Federal Turkey load hit hard and he went to flopping at 10 steps! As steep as the hill was, I couldn't see him until about 12 steps. He ended up being a 17.5 lb gobbler with a 7" beard and 1/2" spurs First I setup my camera and got a pic right where it happened: Then, when I got back to the truck I had to take a few more because the 8AM sky was lit up BLUE'r than I remembered.
  20. WV's Fall Turkey Season opener is this Saturday. I'm so pumped I can't hardly stand it, it is definitely making these last few hours of work tough to get through. Anyone else get out and fall turkey hunt? WV only offers select counties a chance, but it's a lot of fun chasing them in the fall. My tactic is to hunt near the field edges and hope to get one in shotgun range as they enter. If not, which seems the usual problem, break up the flock and then quickly setup and call like a boss hen. I have had good success in the past with this technique. Anyone else?
  21. Sorry to hear, what a great icon of our sport.
  22. Few more posted for Team #4 tonight.
