  1. Congrats! It sure feels good to get that first one of the season out of the way.
  2. In my experience gut piles don't seem to bother deer at all.I've seen deer actually smell a gut pile.I guess they smell the bladder or something.I do usually try to drag the deer a little ways before gutting, just to keep any coyotes that it might draw away from my spot.

    OH so close

Better luck next time Muff!Hopefully he'll stay in the area and you'll get another crack at him.
  4. He's a beauty!I've seen a few that have been pretty scraggly,but that one looks perfect.Great pics!
  5. Blues beat Detroit last night 4-3 in St. Louis! They gave up two first perios goals, but came out of the second with four goals. Looks like the Blues made a good draft pick with Perron.I think he has 6 goals in 8 games now.Not bad for a 19 year old.Hope he can keep it up.
  6. Happy birthday Snipe!
  7. Sweet!Sounds like a great time!Have a safe trip!
  8. Great job!Too bad they didn't press any charges on the driver of the blazer too.Glad the guy got caught and hopefully he'll have due punishment for this.
  9. That's a great buck!Congrats!Sounds like little bro enjoyed it too!
  10. Holy snikees!Looks like a dandy!Hope you get a crack at him.
  11. That's the way it seems to go.Great pics!Looks like a great spot!
  12. Congrats on the doe!I would say your into them pretty good this season!
  13. Congrats on a great buck!
  14. Sounds like your going through a pretty rough patch right now.Keep your chin up.I'm sorry to here about your friend.I've had more than one friend commit suicide.I just don't understand what could be so bad that you don't want to live to see another day.Prayers go out for all his friends and family. I had a girl I thought I was going to spend the rest of my life with(engaged) drop me like a sandbag for her old boyfriend when I was about your age.I eventually met my wife and have two great kids.It will take a while to get over her,but I'm sure you'll find someone that will care for you as much as you care for them.
  15. Not much different here.Saturday temps were normal, but yesterday it was 72 and supposed to be the same today.Looks like a little cool down is coming by the end of the week, just in time for my first hunting vacation days of the year.
  16. Seen some chasing in central Illinois Saturday.I've actually seem the same thing off and on over the past three weeks.
  17. This has been my experience too.I've seen deer bed down and stay there for a long time without leaving the area. They can almost completely quit moving during daylight.
  18. Congrats to your grandson!I'm sure he'll remember that hunt for a long time. Can't wait to see the pics!
  19. Congrats to your brother on a great buck!
  20. Congrats on your first buck!Looks like you made a perfect shot!
  21. I try to only shoot bigger does, but sometimes it can be hard to tell when things happen fast. It's pretty easy to tell when the fawns are with the doe,but if an early born fawn comes in by itself it can be hard to tell since they can reach a decent size in their first year with all the food available around here.If I determine it's a fawn I will let it walk. There are guys in our group that will shoot fawns and are proud of them and that's fine with me,I'm just a little more choosey.
  22. Congrats on an awesome Illinois stud buck!I love the rack on that bad boy!
  23. Congrats again on a great buck and the new job to boot!
  24. Congrats! That's a great buck!Looks like were starting to turn the heat up! I went out Saturday morning and seen some good movement.I had a shooter about 60 yards and tried everything to call him in but he didn't pay any attention and just kept on his path.I did see 4 does and another forky so I was pleased with the activity. My cousin had a 140 class chasing does by him but never got a shot so things are looking good for next weekend.
