  1. Mach1 29 Illinois Archery: Oct. 1-Nov. 18, Nov. 22-Dec. 1, Dec. 6-Jan. 16 Firearm: Nov. 19-Nov. 21, Dec. 2-Dec. 5 Muzzleloader only: Dec. 10-Dec. 12
  2. Just talked to someone on another forum I'm part of, and they bought a muzzleloader at Cabela's in Hazelwood yesterday and were able to take it with them. So I guess my question is answered. Mudrunner, I've bought ammo in Indiana and haven't even been asked for my FOID either and they knew I was from IL when they asked for my drivers license when paying with a credit card.
  3. As I understand it, in IL a 4473 must be filled out to buy a muzzleloader. Also as I understand, any firearm (as defined by our FOID Act) that can fire a projectile 700 fps or more requires a 4473 and a background check. How I understand it, a muzzleloader is considered a firearm and the 24 hour waiting period applies. It's been a few years since I worked at a store selling guns and have forgotten how everything is applied, so I'm going off memory here. I hope somebody can clear this up for me as it's been awhile since I've bought/sold a gun.
  4. Today while at Cabela's in Hazelwood, MO (it was packed due to Mark & Terry Drury and Michael Waddell being there), my dad, brother, and I were discussing buying a muzzleloader in MO and if the 24 hour waiting period would be required for us to take it home since we are all Illinois residents. We know it's this way for shotguns/rifles, but couldn't remember if it was the same for muzzleloaders. Can someone refresh my memory? Thanks.

    Wisdom Teeth

I had all mine taken out about a month before I turned 20. Had it done on the morning of the first Friday of the NCAA basketball tournament. I was knocked out for the procedure and came out of it ok. I was given a script for Vicadin, but didn't fill it because Advil took care of any of the pain I had. I was back to school on Monday and eating pretty much anything I wanted. I did put ice packs on my jaws frequently to keep swelling down through the weekend. My cousin had hers done about a month later and was sick for a few days from it.
  6. Typically I am only able to spend the weekends hunting plus the Friday of each of our two firearm seasons. So, I'd estimate that I spend 22-30 days deer hunting. Where I hunt it is not uncommon to average seeing one P&Y qualifier a weekend. Sometimes it will be none, on others it may be two or more. Sightings definitely increase during firearms season. As for Booners, one a year would probably be a good estimate. I've had a couple years in which it's been three or four, but those were really good years.
  7. I've shot four bucks, all gross 140" or more typical. Bow - 140" 10 pt. & 174" 9 pt. Shotgun - 145" 9 pt. Muzzleloader - 150" 8 pt.
  8. Gotcha. Hadn't ever heard of that type of thing. Here where I am as long as we send our renewal money in, the state sends us a new sticker.
  9. Why does your car need inspected to determine if it's legal to drive? I've never heard of that around where I live. Can somebody fill me in on this reasoning? Thanks. I feel for you. That would be tough to swallow.

    How much Money......

Nothing. Living close to family is priceless.
  11. Got a BPS flier today for the Hunting Classic at the St. Louis (St. Charles) location...August 6-22. Looks like we're going to have Kelsey from BPS Next Generation, Terry Drury & friends, Rick & Julie Kreuter, and David Hale in our neck of the woods. I like how they listed who was going to be at all of the BPS locations and when.
  12. No problems viewing so far. I've got a 15" monitor and do not have to scroll right or left to view anything. Looks good.
  13. I use Ford Motorcraft in my F150.
  14. SCOTUS voted 5-4 (again) to uphold the 2nd Amendment of the Constitution. That is pathetic.
  15. I've read on sites and have seen on TV that you should get the best that you can comfortably afford.

    MPG's

2004 F150 4x4 Super Crew w/ 5.4L V8 -summer mileage: 16-17.5 mpg -winter mileage: 13-14.5 mpg 2001 Honda Accord w/ V6 (wife's car) -32-35 mpg I used to have a 94 Ford Ranger with a 4.0L V6 and got 18-20 mpg the majority of the time. One trip I got 26 mpg, but I think that was an anomaly.
  17. We've had it here in IL for a couple years now and I think it's great. Enforcement in some places, particularly small town taverns, has been an issue.
  18. My wife goes deer hunting with me and carries the video camera. She'd carried a gun the last few years, but last year when the opportunity arose for her to pull the trigger, she couldn't do it. So she said she'll just go along with the video camera from now on. I give her a lot of credit for making the attempt to try and take a deer because you don't know if you can pull that trigger until the time comes. She has no ill feelings toward hunting at all and enjoys the meat from the deer and turkeys that we shoot.
  19. For me this year: hunting license - 12.50 habitat stamp - 5.50 state waterfowl - 15.50 federal waterfowl - 15.50 archery combo - 26.00 fall archery turkey - 5.50 firearm combo - 42.50 muzzleloader only - 25.00 spring turkey - 15.00 x2 total - $178.00 That gives me the opportunity to harvest 5 deer, 3 turkeys, a bunch of waterfowl, and basically as much small game as I'd like. I look at it this way, people will pay quite a bit for a ticket to go watch a professional sports game that lasts maybe 3 hours or a NASCAR race and not complain about the money they spent. I've done both and continue to do so. Comparitively, the money I spend for licenses & tags is a SMALL price to pay for the amount of time you can spend outdoors with friends & family, enjoy myself, bring home some meat for the freezer, and maybe even bring home a trophy animal.

  21. It was announced a couple months ago that prices were going to increase and the new prices were given, so it should come as no surprise.
  22. You could go over to Jo Daviess County...after the 2/9/10 drawing there were 286 left for 4th season and 433 left for 5th. After looking at the available permits left, there's still a lot of permits available in a lot of counties. I wonder if those counties are alotted a bunch more tags than others and why?
  23. My brother, dad, and I didn't have any problems with our tags. All three of us got our first choices for the first tags we applied for and the second tags we applied for. My brother has 2nd and 4th and my dad and I both have 3rd and 4th. They are both going to apply for a third tag for 5th season as our county still had permits left.
