Re: Dead Kansas Buck... Man, it's a shame he died before you could get a shot off at him... such a beautiful rack! Hopefully he passed some of those great genes on before killing over. Much luck on killing his sons in the future.

In the past few months I have been tossing around the idea of going into taxidermy. I've been glancing through websites upon websites looking into this field of work. I consider myself to be a decent artist (not bragging!) and love to hunt and fish, so I figured that this might be a great job for me. My first question would have to be, what kind of person does it take to go into this type of work? Which school would be the best to attend? I've been looking into the Pennsylvania Institute of Taxidermy in Ebensburg, PA. Does anyone happen to know if this school is good or would you suggest anoter school over this one? All suggestions and advice will be greatly appreciated. Anyone willing to talk to me about this subject then feel free to PM me or IM me on AOL instant messenger - my name is neonhiyo. Thanks in advance!

Re: Do you believe in ghosts? Oh my god.... LOL I seriously almost jumped out of my skin. I was kinda close to the computer screen looking for whatever I was supposed to see that was out of the ordinary and that thing popped up. I flew back in my chair and said a few curse words. I thought my heart was gonna burst out of my chest it was beating so hard. LOL Thanks for scaring the poop outta me...

Re: Mom\'s B-day... any gift ideas?? Well, if your mom is anything like mine - she'll appreciate anything you get her! Last year I bought mom one of those Snowbabies (not sure if you've heard of those?) and 2 bouquets of Alstromeria. Roses and a card always works though.. Get me some while you're at it! LOL

Re: Bunnies & Beagles After the dog looked up at you, did she completely give up on the trail and come over to you? If so, I would have taken her back to where she left off to see if she could pick it back up again. Sometimes when they're young and just starting out, they're easily distracted by things. Try to take her out every weekend or so just to let her "practice" and if she doesn't get the hang of it by herself then try to get ahold of someone with a more experienced beagle or a group of beagles that she can run with(like suggested above)! Have you ever heard the saying, monkey see, monkey do? Well, beagle see (or in this case smell!), beagle do! Corny I know, but so true! By the way - I PM'd you.

Re: Anyone from Virginia ? Morning! I just so happen to live in Raleigh county which is in the southern part of West Virginia! Considering you were looking for a place in this county I would highly suggest looking in the Shady Spring or Grandview area! Living in either place would put you about 20-30 minutes from Beckley which is where the Walmart, Sams, and all that crap is, but also by living there you're out in the country away from it all! Also, I live near the Shady Spring area, which is only about 35 minutes from the Virginia state line. If you were looking a little further South than that, but still in West Virginia... I'd take a look at either the Princeton or Bluefield areas. Anyway, if you would like anymore information, I'll do my best to help ya.

Re: Bunnies & Beagles We just had to put one of our beagles down last month on the 25th so this thread is bringing back lots of good memories of when we used to take them out. He would have been 15 come August 12th this year. We still have his brother who is going strong but also growing fat in his old age! There's nothing like going out and listening to a couple of beagles run! I agree with too pointer - the best experience for a young dog is to take it out with an older dog or dogs that have been known to run rabbits and not deer! I remember the only time Jake (the one we had put to sleep) ever ran a deer, we saw him high tailing it back across the field below the road we were on with a big doe right on his heels! LOL Never again did he run another one... lesson learned eh?! Tominator - sounds like you had a fun trip! Take that 12 gauge next time.... and carry along some glue to keep your friends wife in place!

Re: for all of those out there with daughters The 2nd time my b/f came to our house my dad stepped out on the front porch with his shotgun and as he stepped out of his truck onto our driveway dad proceeded to load the gun. LOL Of course Dad was only kidding (I think!?) but you should have seen the look on his face! Priceless!

Re: Quitting smoking............Help!!! Don't give in! My dad and I made a deal in Nov. 2003 to where if I'd give up drinking pop then he'd stop smoking. Shortly after we made that deal, dad went to the doctor to get checked out and they found a cancerous tumor in the lower lobe of his left lung. March 2004 the doctors removed half of his left lung and now he has over a foot long scar on his back (left shoulder). He said that whenever he gets a craving for a cigarette all he has to do is pull his shirt up in the back and take a look at that scar. He's even gone as far as showing people that are willing to look at it in hopes that they would quit smoking as well. Back on topic, I really commend you for trying to quit.. please don't give up! Stuff like this really hits home with me so I'm constantly encouraging people to kick the habit! You can do it!
