I have 3 pear trees in my back yard, before I got a dog they would eat them on a daily basis. When I lived in town my neighbor had a tree and they would eat them at night.

I sure do,I was 10 years old.My dad and I were messin around the woods, and we jumped a small spike. It ran off about 30 yrds and turned broadside. My dad was carrying a sXs Fox Model B 12 gauge. He broke it open and slid in 2 loads of buckshot. He handed me the gun and told me to shoot it.I raised up the old gun and KABOOM!!!!!The little deer fell one way and I went the other. It bruised my entire shoulder and gave me a black eye,but I also got my first deer.I still have the gun.

I like Realtree Hardwoods green .I have had alot of close encounters with deer and turkery.I am on the ground alot just dont like sittin still.Got a ground blind now so it really dont matter. All camo probably works if u break your outline and sit still.

I might b wrong but a rub and a the rut are 2 different things.A rub or rub line is a way of marking his territory. They will run from a bedding area to a feeding area or from feeding to bedding.I usually see tree rubs in the begining of the season then ground scraps. When the rut occurs I dont think the bucks are worried about rubbin a tree. The smaller deer in my area like to rub pines for some reason. The buck I killed the other day was rubbin a large fir tree and a few oak.Like I said I might b totally wrong.A small deer will rub a big tree, but a big deer prefers a bigger tree.

What caliber does everyone use for whitetail deer?
HeviShot replied to just-an-illusion's topic in Deer Hunting
I shoot my dads old 788 Remington in 308cal.It is VERY accurate.I shoot Fed 150 grain ballistic tips or Remington Core loc ultra 150 grain. -
I bought a cheap (90.00 bucks) Ameristep blind that has room for 2 people. The fabric is a little shiny but a little dust and brush take care of that.I really like it.Set it up last Thurs killed by buck the next Monday.

After all the close calls with my bow and the goof up by my girlfriend,I shot the deer I was after 10/20/09.My daughter was with me which made it even better. He is not a giant by any means, but he nice for GA.I was in a hurry tryin to get him caped. He is a main frame 8 with 3 kickers on the right side. He was around 17 or 18 inside spread and his left beam was 23 and a few inches. He came out just like he always did from the right side of the field followin his doe.I shot him about 150 yrds and dropped him right there.I uploaded a pic in the albums.

Is It REAL?I got the same text and the same pic.

Re: Wats the best choke for new MossBg 835ulti 20\"barr My brotherinlaw shoots a HS undertaker and a Jelly head with good results from 3 inch #6 Hevisot and Winchester Supreme.Always remember no gun shoots the same. -
Re: Realtree Turkey Team #13 We got to the turkey woods this am and the birds were hammerin!!!We sat up about 100 yards from the loudest 1.My brother-inlaw was with me and he was calling. We had 3 or 4 Toms come in,it was awsome. When they got about 60 yards they made a sharp left turn and took my shot away behind some tree's.Mybrother in-law has never killed a mature bird. They were right on us and I had no shot but he did.I gave him the go ahead and BOOOM!!!His 835 and a load of hevi #6 layed the ole boy out.He had a 9 inch rope but was only 16 pounds. He was Whooping ang yelling I've never seen someone so happy.I just got back from my land and located 2 more birds!!!I not going to be able to sleep tonight.Hopefully I will score us a bird tomorrow.Man this is fun!!!!

Re: Realtree Turkey Team #13 To sum it up short all henned up.In the morning will be actually the 1st day I have been before fly down.I am very tired.I work 12 hrs at night and take my daughter to school.I have not been to the woods before 8:15 but 1 morning and it was 34 degrees.I have several good birds in my area. This is my weekend off. It's going to be good in the am.

Re: 2 Live Hen Questions (Poll) 1)tree yelps, almost every time.2)I hear the fly down cackle about half the time.If I hear a gobbler in a tree close to the hens I try to make the hens mad,so they usually cackle when they fly down. They come looking for a fight and the tom will soon follow.I hunt easterns.

Re: What turkey vest do you all use? Mine is brand newand ready to go.It has padded shoulder straps. It has the fold down water proof seat and a padded backrest.I've already have her loaded up.When i'm walking the decoy fits perfect between my back and the cushion concealed. It also has a flo orange saftey flag in 1 pocket.I think i will like it.

Re: Realtree Turkey Team #13 Well guys it is a little cool down here but the birds are starting to rock.We have already seen a few signs of birds strutting.I've located a few just a matter of time now.I have to work this weekend.I work from 6pm to 6 am.A person is going to come in 30 min early so I can be in the woods before day.Hopefully about 30min after sun up I'll roll 1 with the ole Benelli.I just don't know how they are going to react to cooler temps.
