    ILLINOIS

Re: ILLINOIS I would say their hungry with it being so cold and snowy.I have killed way more dogs in the daylight then after dark expecaily in the winter.
  2. Re: Michael Waddell Left ? I truly believe that if most of us had the spotts that Michael hunted all over the U.S we could be just as sucsessfull as him or any other so called pro hunters.Don't get me wrong I like the guy and respect him but these people are not hunting gods.
  3. Re: ILLINOIS hunters..has anyone heard about the n I to think it should be a right to shoot state and even after you get a doe then a buck you should have to shoot another doe and so on. As far as the rifle season it is way to easy, in my area there is alot of open area with small patches of timber and the deer wouldn't stand a chance. realy a bad Idea. As for the millitary give them what ever they want.
  4. Re: Farmers & hunter 2gether I have no problem paying for it but it has to be realy good ground and I want to be able to plant food plots as well. For now I have a couple of spotts that I hunt for free and have killed nice bucks of them. The one spot I have all I had to do to hunt it was teach the land owners son to hunt and help him get deer every year wich gives me just as much satisfaction as it does the son.The one thing is these spots are not big timber and thats what I would love to hunt.
  5. Re: ILLINOIS hunters..has anyone heard about the new I haven't heard any thing about it. I don't think it is a good idea just my opinion.
  6. Re: Farmers & hunter 2gether I grew up on a farm and also woked for many of the farmers in my area. They allowed me to hunt all there land it was great I eventualy got a realy good paying job that took up all my time so I stoped hunting their land for a few years. When I went back to ask again they said no because other people that hunted it when I wasn't were leaving litter every were and they were sick of them ruting up their feilds and farm roads.
  7. Re: ANYONE WHO KNOWS SHED HUNTING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Starte at the feeding area. after you have coverd that find the trails to the bedding areas and walk them untiil you have coverd them all. And while your walking toward the bedding area watch to see if you jump any deer to see if any have racks yet. Search those bedding areas real good also. I find most of mine between the bedding and feeding areas. Good luck.
  8. Re: Sheds & snow It depends on the zize. I like a heavy wet snow about 4 or 5 inches deep. This helps to cover some of the sticks and ther things that would apear to look like sheds. The bigger shedds will stick out well above that snow line. All I look for is the top 2or 3 inches of a shedd but if it's a small one it will get coverd up.
  9. Re: trail camera pictures I have had three different bushnells and no two are alike. first one took great picks and was fast trigger but it leaked water. Second one was alittle slower and took blurry pics all the time. The one I have now is alot slower, flash isn't very good, and the background in the pic is blochey.
  10. Re: top deer countys in ILL Big numbers mean you have alot of out of towners hunting your local deer. I like our numbers to stay right were there at.I feel bad for those local hunters in pike county with all those outfitters leasing up all the good ground.
  11. Re: have you ever, found sheds......... I have used same pair fo 10 years and have had alot of sucess. Now you guys got me wondering if I could have done better if I would have swiched to a new set.
  12. Re: which ones fall first I am no expert but I do a lot of home work in my area and this is what I have experanced. Bucks that are old and sick drop early. The old bucks are hard to find simply because they don't exist in every location due to heavy hunting in some areas. I once thought all big mature bucks droped first but was prooved wrong due to many hours spent looking and finding small ones as well as big ones at the same time of year. I have also seen monster bucks carying antlers into April. One year I found a large set of an 11pt in early Dec, but my buddy shot this buck threw the nose due to arrow deflection in November.I truly beleave that you will find a mixed bag when they do drop. Some say that the bucks that rut early will shed first, we all know that mature bucks don't eat much during the rut.On the other hand young bucks seem to come into rut way before the mature bucks do at least in my area they do. The area I hunt still has alot of bucks carying antlers but a friend of mine that lives 20 miles away has seen several half racked bucks. I hope I didn't confuse any one with all this like I said I'am no expert but this has beed my experance in my area.
  13. Re: Whent spotten last night I don't use a spottlight I was using a spotter scope just before dark when the deer come out to feed. This was in grundy county.
  14. I saw 29 deer in one 80ac field and 7 of those were racked deer 3 were 140 and up. No early drop here at least in my hunting area.I don't like to push my heard to much this time of year so spotting helps me judge when to go look.
  15. Re: killer arrows I use spittfires and alot of times the blades are slitely bent after spining into the deer. I don't see any thing wrong with sharpening fixed blades I just don't use them myself.
  16. Have any of you found sheds in your food plots and if so what type of plot was it.
  17. Re: Tecomate or Whitetail Institute I planted tecomte monster mix last spring and it diid very well. The area has beans and corn also and the deer especialy the bucks spent alot of time in the monster mix. This is my first plot so I don't know much about whitetail institute.
  18. Re: unreal touchdown I never said I did. I have a brother that is a packer fan and I swear he was droped on his head when he was a baby.
  19. Re: Will Rex ever win a Superbowl as a Starting QB??? He learned alot this year and lets not forget this was his first full season. I bet he does alot better next year.
  20. Re: unreal touchdown I knew that packers comment would stike a nerve.
  21. Re: superbowl champs congrats to ya from a sad bears fan.
  22. Re: unreal touchdown First of all packer fans can't talk they stunk all year.Ya they beet the bears one time this year. Do ya realy think the were going to risk injury just to take pride in pounding them one more tiime. Second if the bears didn't even start a qb they would have made it to the superbowl come on.They just got out played and out coached. The hole team is to blame missed tackles the corners giving to much cousion the coaching for not ajusting to the drop pass to the runnig back that they burnned us on to many times to count. The bears as a hole gave use one heck of a year and I can't wait to see them go after it next season. Congrats to the colts and their fans the earned it.
  23. Re: Public Land Monster I would give him another year. on each wall!!!!!!!!
  24. Re: trail camera pictures Watch those fence crossings that is probably the best spot to find those antlers. I also have a bushnell. How do you like yours?
  25. Re: killer arrows I never reuse my broadheads I would'n want to risk wounding any deer. However I am thinking of retiring my arrows this year.
