I'm using the HSS Pro. I love it. It's really comfortable and it's three quick easy buckles to get into it and once I have it on, I don't even know that I'm wearing it.

Hey everybody!!! It's been a long time since I've been on here. I hope all of you are doing great! I've been really busy with my new job as a police officer. I graduated the academy on June 30th at the top of my class and started my job on July 1. I'm having a great time in all my training and learning so much stuff it's absolutely crazy! I haven't had much time to do much anything else but work and sleep while I'm trying to get used to the new schedule and the new job and get oriented with everything in the new apartment and the new town. I am absolutely loving my job and am so happy that I got hired where I did. It's a town that is small enough that it's not terribly hard to learn my way around but big enough that I get to do the job and help people which is why I got into this field in the first place. I hope all of you had a great turkey season and that you all are seeing big deer and getting geared up for deer season this fall. I can't wait to see all the big deer I know everybody is going to harvest this fall! Again, just wanted to check in and say hi and hopefully now that I've been working a month I will be able to check in more often!

I have one absolutely love it. I'm in law enforcement and at training right now and we have done some stuff at night and I can light up the interior of a vehicle with tinted windows like it's daylight in there. Even in daylight they are extremely effective. From what I have used mine, it has a really long battery life too. I would highly recommend it. I know a lot of cops that carry these lights and absolutely love them.

"The Badge" He starts his shift each day To respond to calls unknown. He drives a marked patrol car. A police officer he is known. He's paid by the citizens' taxes To make it safe on the streets. But he usually has a second job 'Cause a waitress has his salary beat. Now he doesn't know a holiday 'Cause he works all year round. And when Thanksgiving and Christmas finally arrive At his home he cannot be found. He's cursed and assaulted often, The one whos blood runs blue. He seldom ever gets a thanks, To some he's just a fool. His friends are always other cops 'Cause people just don't understand That underneath his badge and gun, He's just another man. He knows there might not be a tomorrow In this world of drugs and crime. And he gets so mad at the court system 'Cause the crooks don't get any time. And each day when he leaves for work, He prays to God above. Please bring me home after my shift So I can see the ones I love. But tonight he stops a speeding car, He's alone down this ole' highway. It's just a little traffic infraction. He does it everyday. Well, he walks up to the driver's window, And his badge is shining bright. He asked the guy for a driver's license, When a shot rang through the night. Yes, the bullet hit its mark, Striking the officer in the chest. But the Department's budget didn't buy Each officer a bullet-proof vest. So he lay on the ground bleeding. His blood wasn't blue - His blood was red. And briefly he thought of his loved ones 'Cause in a moment the officer was dead. In the news they told the story Of how this officer had died. And some who listened cared less, But those who loved him cried. Well, they buried him in uniform With his badge pinned on his chest. He even had his revolver, He died doing his best. -- Sgt. David Bell

Well, on last Friday I signed a lease for my first real place. I lived on my own in college in an apartment, but that didn't really feel like I had moved out from home. This will be my own place in the town I got hired as a police officer in. I can pick up my keys on the 28th and start moving things in any time after that. I will be done with the academy on June 30th and from there start my new job on the streets. Definitely an exciting time in my life and once again I want to thank all of you for keeping me in your thoughts and prayers throughout this entire process from the time I graduated college until I got hired. It has been a tough road filled with a lot of ups and downs along the way and all of you have supported me throughout the process and I really cannot put into words how much that means to me.

No I haven't been tased yet. That won't be for another couple of weeks. Everybody I have talked to said they would rather be tased than sprayed though lol

Well, as most of you know, I'm at police training and have 7 weeks left after tomorrow. Today was OC (Oleoresin Capiscum) spray day. Essentially pepper spray. The stuff we got sprayed with was 2,000,000 Scovill Heat Units (SHU's).. Jalapeno peppers are 2500 SHU's. We had to get sprayed, do 30 pushups, run 15 yards, crawl through a hole, do 3 knee kicks to a person holding a punching bag, order somebody into proper cuffing position, handcuff them properly, and shoot a target with a laser gun at approximately 5 yards. I survived, but it sucked. I got splash up into both eyes and hope that I never have to be hit with this stuff again. On the upside, it's 3 hours later and the pain is almost over until I shower and it reactives.. lol Gotta love this job!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I was never a big fan of George from the beginning either due to his cockiness. Glad to see a good ole boy in Chris won it. He definitely deserved it. Jamie definitely deserved to be there, he produced in several of the challenges and did well in all the elimination challenges. Not too sure what I think about George doing what he did in the end though. I mean, it's awesome that he evened the field for Chris who wanted the money for his kids' college but at the same time, if was Chris, I don't know if I would have wanted George to throw it like that. I guess to each his own...

Me too brad... conflicting stories on whether he was killed by a bomb or ground forces...

I was home from my first week at PTI and ready to get in the woods. A huge storm that was spawning tornadoes, high winds, and hail had passed through Friday afternoon/evening and when I got up at 4:40 it was still spitting rain. I decided to head to the woods anyway. I get all my clothes on, load everything in my truck and head for Rockhouse. I get there and walk across the big bottom to the place I have affectionately dubbed “The Point.” Up to this day, I had killed 3 turkeys from there, 1 jake and 2 longbeards. I did not have a lot of anticipation for this hunt because of the storms the night before. The first bird gobbled around 5:55 and then I didn’t hear another gobble until about 6:10. Then I heard 3 down in the big bottom to my left. I began working one of the birds and he seemed interested and I worked him for about 15 minutes then I heard a hen and he got quiet. I tried to call to the hen but she didn’t really want anything to do with me. While I was working the gobbler, I heard what I thought was a gobble to my northeast. At the next call there are 4 turkeys in the field at 50 yards and closing fast. They were jakes though. I let them pass and they went down into the bottom to join the gobbler and his hen. They would all gobble periodically at my calls then everything went silent around 6:30. I made a couple more calls, just to let that gobbler know I was still there and on the second one I heard a gobble come from due north and this bird was on the ground and within 100 yards. I never heard him gobble on the roost. I called again and he gobbled again, and I still couldn’t see him. I gave it a couple minutes and called again and he boomed a response right back and this time I could see him strutting out in the field. I saw a full tail fan and knew this was a longbeard. He came strutting in, zig-zagging and taking his time like turkeys always do and made me so nervous!! He finally closed the distance to 40 yards and stepped out from behind some brush and I laid the hammer down on him. He was a 2 yr old bird with ¾” spurs, a 9” beard, and he weighed 27 lbs!!!!! My heaviest turkey to date!

Thanks Matthews... let the coffee and donut jokes begin LOL

Well it definitely did yesterday... We went to an outfitter for police and I got all of my gear!!! From my boots through uniforms through duty belt and everything to put on it. It took me awhile to get figured out how I wanted to arrange everything on it, but got it all figured out eventually. It was a labor of love for sure LOL

Awesome pics!!!! I hope to go to a final four sometime. Looks like you guys had an awesome time!

It's a police job here in IL mike... and Steve, it's not the paperwork that is stressing me out, it's the fact that I don't understand a lot of what it is about.
-
Well, it was somewhat stressful to say the least. I'm definitely new to all of the insurance and everything having just worked on the farm and still being on mom and dad's insurance policies. But I'm trying to work through all of the paperwork and get it all figured out. Tomorrow should definitely be more fun with us going to a supplier and picking out the rest of my gear!! Still exciting to finally realize my dream just trying to figure all this administrative crap out lol

I know a lot of law enforcement personnel that swear by this light. Mag-Lites are good, but I personally don't think that they have the same light power as these do. Streamlight also makes a smaller light, but I can't find a link to it right now. This will be one of my essential pieces of equipment very soon. Stinger® Series - UltraStinger® | Streamlight

Well, my psychiatric evaluation is tomorrow and my medical physical is Thursday as part of the hiring process for my offer of employment with a police department. I have never been through a psych eval so I am a little nervous about what to expect. I know they are definitely different than anything I have ever been through before. The good news is that if I pass both of these, I should receive a final offer and be on my way to training April 10. I would appreciate a few thoughts and prayers from everyone.. Thanks!!!

Thanks everybody!!!! Like I said, I'm really excited that this is finally happening. This department is near Champaign IL, so if any of you are traveling through that area after July of this year look me up!!! -
Well I got the call today from the PD that has been conducting my background check and they gave me the conditional offer of employment. The next step is to pass the psych evaluation and medical physical and I'm hired. I am so excited that this has finally happened!!!! It has been almost a year in the making and i'm finally going to fulfill my lifelong dream!!!!!!!!!!!!! Thank you to everyone here who has supported me throughout this entire process. You guys have been the ones, along with my family, who I have turned to for advice and just to listen to me rant and complain and sob at times and I cannot thank you all enough. This truly is a great place to be a member of.

Guys I was the one who took the pictures. I think they screwed up on their scoring. I agree it's a solid 180s, low 190s class buck with the antler that's there. He busted off 2 tines: the G5 on the right side and a kicker off the G3 on that same side. Regardless they are some monster sheds and whitey... I feel for ya buddy. I know you have had some crappy luck over the years. Kyle, basically whitey went out looking for sheds on Sunday and stopped about 30 yards away from where these bad boys were laying. The kid that found that apparently had permission to be on the property and found them the same day whitey was there. He said they were laying about 25 yards away from each other. Not to mention, the kid that found these had never found an antler before this year and has found 2 matched sets plus a couple other antlers this year. Talk about beginner's luck.
