Well not too many skeletons for me. Couple dumb mistakes that I was very upfront about and explained the situation(s). I agree that things are looking up and promising but I still don't want to get too optimistic yet. If I get a call from the chief none of you guys will have to look on here to know I got the job, cause you will all hear me screaming like a little girl!!! LOL

Sorry it took so long for the update. I went to Rantoul on Thursday at 10 am. I sat with a Lieutenant for 2 hours and at the end of it he offered to give me a tour of the police department. I took it and really liked what I saw. Then we went back to his office and he told me a little bit about PTI (Police Training Institute) and what the process will be from here. He said that if I pass the background check he will type everything up and pass it along to the chief. If the chief approves then I will get passed on to the board of fire and police commissioners. If they approve a conditional offer of employment is the next step. The offer is conditional based on the completion of a physical and psych test. After this he offered to set me up on a ride along for Thursday afternoon which of course I accepted. I got to see the city a little bit and meet a couple of the officers within the department. So that's where I am at now. Just waiting on the results of the background check, but things really do look promising.

Well Steve it's not a job offer yet. It's all part of their process. There are still other applicants that they could choose but this is definitely a step in the right direction and a good sign that they are very interested in me.

3 hours after an interview one of the lieutenants from your 2nd interview with a department calls you and says they thought you did a really good job and they want you to come back so they can do your background check in 2 days?? I sure as heck think so!!! Rantoul called me back 3 hours after I left there this morning to tell me those exact words and I was almost speechless. I'm hoping and praying this could be the job for me. Thank you to everyone here who has supported me. You guys have been awesome!! Will keep you updated!

Thanks Kyle! I have 2 suits and have been wearing them to all of my interviews. When I talked to the guy on the phone this morning he said that this interview will mostly be about them getting to know me.. my interests, activities, qualifications etc. It doesn't sound like there will be too many things from the first interview brought back up.

Well I hadn't heard anything from this department since I interviewed back in the spring but I just received a phone call and I made top 8. After the interview process I was 15th or 16th so that feels good just to move up those 8 spots. They want me to come up for a 2nd interview on the 22nd of Feb and they are looking to hire 2 out of this 8 and hoping to get them into a police academy class scheduled to start April 10. Thank you guys for all of your thoughts and prayers up to this point but a few more would be awesome to help me along through this phase as well.

That is awesome Chris. Keep fighting brother! We just had a High School basketball game here in my hometown where the players wore pink jerseys and shoes, all the fans wore pink shirts and the refs even had pink whistles. You could purchase either a pink balloon (for survivors) or a pink paw print (for those who lost the battle) and all of those names where read throughout the game. All of the proceeds went to support breast cancer research.

I liked the show, the audio was horrible though. I thought the performance of them and people who were off stage in the light up suits was very well done.

My favorite is STAG followed by Bud Light. The most exotic thing I have tried is while I was on my cruise last spring in the Bahamas I had a beer called Kalek. It was brewed in Nassau and tasted similar to Budweiser. It was really good.

Never had it happen to me either, but I have heard of it. I agree with Chris though, any taxidermist worth his salt will be able to put those antlers back on without a problem. That sucks that he lost his rack like that but congrats on a great buck!

I am so sorry Norm. I was so wrapped up in getting prepared for the test and getting everything done I needed to before the trip that I totally forgot. I drove right by you though!! And I waved!!! If I get this job we will definitely have to meet up!!! I'll even buy!

Well, I got the good news today that I passed the written test at Nashville, TN PD. Now I wait for my background check to be completed and see what the next step is from there!!

170-179" here in IL. I have seen it twice. Had a shot opportunity at 25 yards on a deer of that caliber back in 2006 and I blew it. Shot right over his back.. Talk about buck fever. The next year he was killed 400 yards away and grossed 192".

Mine is a 139" 10 pt. I killed back in 2002. I can't find a picture of it right now.. And Flint I think that is a mid to upper 120s kind of deer as well.

I voted for the 160+ category for me. I will shoot any deer over 140 but a monster to me is anything over 160

Well the testing went... ok I guess. The written test was definitely a lot different than I have ever taken anywhere in Illinois. Physical test wasn't bad at all though, so that's a good thing. I should know in about 10-12 days if I passed 2 parts of the written test, not sure when I will find out about the 3rd part. They said the whole process will take 3 to 4 months before I might get a conditional offer of employment there. That's still a heck of a lot shorter turn around than anywhere else I have applied/tested. As far as the vacation part of the trip.. I love that city!! I had never been before so it was an eye opening experience. I got to see part of the city, mostly downtown just walking around and seeing a lot of the different stuff. We went to the White Horse Saloon, Buck Wild Saloon, and several other places down on the strip as well as traveling out to Opryland and seeing the hotel and resort there and seeing the Ryman Auditorium downtown. I will definitely be making a trip back in the future. I will keep everyone updated and thanks for the well wishes!!

My route will be I55 to Route 4 to I64 to I57 to I24 down into Nashville. Wish I was coming closer Will, It would be awesome to meet up with you! Thanks for the well wishes everyone. This should be a fun trip as well as hopefully having a really good chance to get a job!

Well, I'm headed to Nashville TN to test for a job with the police department there. I'm leaving on Thursday to get some pre-test stuff taken care of and the physical test is Fri morning and the written test is Sat morning. I'm meeting up with a buddy from college that is also testing the same days and we are stay there Saturday night and enjoy ourselves while there. Heck I figured might as well make a mini-vacation out of it right?? LOL Wish me luck!!
