Congrats on a Great bird!!

Went and hunted a ranch this weekend with people from the nwtf. I called one in for a buddy. When it was my turn to be the shooter all that would come in was 31 jakes and the 1 tom that I couldn't get a shot off.

Congrats on the Texas hunt!! Sounds like you guys had a blast.

I got a last minute invite to go hunt with some guys from the nwtf at the Niobrara River Ranch for the weekend. I got to take a buddy along with me. When we got to the road to the ranch there was 6 elk standing on the road. I think I spent more time looking for elk sheds than looking for turkeys but didn't find any. On Sat morning we went the unit we would be hunting and had turkeys gobbling everywhere. I called in a tom shortly after 8am and my buddy got him with a 20ga at 25yrds. He was 20lbs 8 1/16 beard and 7/16 spurs. http://www.hunt101.com/img/489086-big.jpg Than I found a tom that I wanted. No matter how I sat up on him he would always go the other way. I hunted him Sat night, all day on Sun and Mon morning. On Sun afternoon I sat up 100yrds from his roost tree. About 45mins until sunset he showed up at 15yrds while I was daydreaming. And was never able to get the shot off due to being busted. So I came home without a bird but had a blast. In the 2 1/2 days of hunting I called in 31 jakes and 3 toms. Congrats on your first bird

I like to bow hunt them much more than with a gun. But I got a Tk2000 a couple yrs ago. I got a couple birds with that and really starting to like shooting a smokepole.

Re: TEAM #21: Full Fan Fanatics Sounds like you're having a good season Rhino. Things here have been cold, wet and windy. Temps at night have been in the teens maybe getting to 40 the last 3-4 days. Sounds like its going to warmup by next week but with a chance of snow this weekend. Good luck in Texas rhino. I hope to make it back down there someday again.
