Re: Taxes--how much did you pay? I hear that...all of you lol. I actualy like the PA system... Tax form Gross income from all sources?____________ Send us 13% a flat tax would eliminate loopholes...forcingthe ultra rich and corperations to actualy pay taxes rather than abusing shelters. It would significantly lower the taxes on the middle class...too poor to shelter it too rich to slide under it in the current system... And it would hardly effect the poor so long as there was a minimum earnings clause(something PA doesn't have) The actual ammount of taxes collected would not change much...as the increases and decreasses of actual payment would even out. However 80%+ of the IRS could be eliminated...raising the net gain potentialy into the billions....

Re: Outsourcing strikes again. [ QUOTE ] IMO, the people of this factory should have tried to get some form of higher education and training so they could go into a skilled position. [/ QUOTE ] You gonna pay their tuition and living expenses while they attend school.... This is a tough issue since both sides have a good point...and anyone who tries to make it simple and one sided(on either side) isn't looking close enough at the issue. Sluggo is right about the local economy being based on the factory..it will affect a much larger work force than the 700 that technicaly loose their jobs directly. Something is likely to replace it at some point but who knows what or when... Hoping the best for you and your town Sluggo!

Well we keep trying to compare Leupold vs ... no constraints what does everyone use? Ive got a BSA 4x on my 22LR and a Leupold 2-7x carbine M8 i think it is on my 30-06 The Luepold came with the rifle and the BSA i got because it is just a plinking gun and I didn't have the cash for anything better.... Thinking about upgrading the scope on the '06 with a VX I 4-12x and moving the M8 to the 22...once I can save up $250... I will admit I like Leupold primarily because I have almost no experince with anything else...

As a disclaimer I do not fully agree with this quote. However, I think it is a good one to spark thought within yourself and discussion here....so here it goes: "If a hypocrite is between you and God, Guess who is closer to God."

Re: Why go to church? I would have to agree that this Thread could even be termed as a form of church. The point in church is to provide balance and perspective to everyone. To provoke thought and self examination. I agree that I feel very close to God in nature...after all God created nature so that we can see his wonder in his creation. Church cannot replace this alone time but to my mind this alone time cannot replace the felloship and teaching in church. That being said...not just any church is apropriate. TSB and Wtnhunt, In my opinion you need to find a church that believes the same basic core beliefs you do, and one that loves people. If I can attend a church even one month and not make friends and mentors..I am in the wrong place, If I go to a church whos basic beliefs contradict what I see in the bible (such as TSB's problem with accepting Homosexuality) then it is also time to move on. One comment on debates here in the forum or dissagreements about a churches beliefs or a persons life choices: Accept the person no matter what...debate the issue not the person. You can't change anyone but yourself...but you can seek to influence them through your example....

Re: Spouse Vs Kids [ QUOTE ] I would die for both without hesitation. I love neither more than the other. But I love them differently, the same. Yea, I love them differently, the same. [/ QUOTE ] As much as it makes no sense...I agree completely! This is a very good thought topic but hard to put in words... Let me put it this way... My wife completes me. My kids fulfill me. But they are both a part of me. Not sure if that makes sense to you but its the best I can say it.

Re: Religous post. Not for the Squeemish [ QUOTE ] Salvation is indeed both a process and a moment. I've heard it summed up this way: When I accepted Christ I was freed from the PENALTY of sin. As I follow him on earth I am being freed from the POWER of sin. When I die and go to be with Him I'll be free from the PRESENCE of sin. [/ QUOTE ] Excelent summary to my mind! Belief and trust(faith) in christ for salvation from your sin and the penalty it should bring, is the one and only requirement for salvation. Someone may Backslide...but who are we to say wether they messed up or were never saved...only God knows that. If backsliding condemmed us we would ALL be in trouble.

Re: Ethics Question/Test Now that was a good one Sluggo!

Re: Religious question This is a facinating question and I truly believe that we will not know for sure till we stand before him ourselves... However, my thoughts are this: Salvation is a condition of the spirit. There is no magic words or potion etc to give us salvation. I believe that if you have heard the message of christ and rejected it then you are lost(but can always change your mind and accept him untill the day you die) If you have never heard however I believe that God juges you based on your spirit. There are documented case where missionaries have come into remote areas that worshiped one God. When the missionaries began to preach they people were excited because they already knew the God the Christians spoke of, just didn't know his name. I believe that those of that tribe that died prior to the missionaries coming still go to heaven as they did know God and worshiped and accepted him but did not know his earthly name. As a disclaimer this is not to say I believe that all religions that believe in one God are the same...only those that recognize one God and follow biblical principles but have no name for God..as in that one example I gave. If the religion names its God or follows Prophet's not in line with the bible then it is at best a cult of Christianity.

Re: Faith or Works. [ QUOTE ] I truly believe that any requirement stated by man for salvation is ridiculous and contrary to the gospel. Though I would suppose good works done because of your faith are God-pleasing, nothing more than accepting Christ as your Savior is required to receive the FREE gift of salvation. And good works without acceptance of Christ will be futile when we meet the Father. [/ QUOTE ] I totaly agree with that. Couldn't have said it better. I once heard a definition of faith that I realy like: Faith: A trust in something unseen. You can't trust something you don't believe but belief is not sufficient to produce trust. And to reiterate what was already said...I agree that works will grow out of genuine faith but works are not required for salvation... One more thought LOL Salvation is one heck of a gift...what rewards could be waiting in heaven for works that can top salvation itself??? stunning thought...

Re: treestand heights.... [ QUOTE ] nope there isnt, a fall would suck, it would suck bad.....QUESTION~ would you rather fall out of a stand and hit the ground, or dangle by your harness for hours waiting for someine to find you? [/ QUOTE ] If your harness is adjusted right you shouldn't fall far enough to be totaly off the stand and should climb back in it...if it is long enough you just dangle you are taking a big risk of breaking something when you fall...either on you or your harness...
