  5. here in illinois we are in the hunting to fishing transition period, hunting season for most is done except snows, but cant wait for the temps to start climbing to make them small male LM to come up on the banks, get the prespawn underway, cant wait boys
  6. Re: need some help with fishing line!?!?!? if your gonna be fishing some heavy nast cover, yeah i would go with power pro, go get your self a 100 yards of 20lb 6lb diameter bought 15 bucks, recommend a baitcaster, then spool yourself bout 5 to 10 yards of mono on it and then attach power pro to the mono with a uni to uni not then fish it, if fishing very clear water i would go with a three foot mono leader to cut down on visibility , what i do works awesome
  7. Re: how many rod\'s & reel\'s do you have i got bout 25, everything from my 4 foot micro lite pole for pans, man them are fun, to my 8 ft st croix avid for catching them beautiful rainbows and browns out in colorado
  8. Re: Do you filet fish alive? sure do, dont have time to wait for em to die, gotta eat

  10. Re: carp baits i live on the fox river in illinois and i used to fish it for carp and cats off my dock when i didnt feel like leaving the house, all my life for carp the best bait i have ever used is a piece of a bread rolled into a ball just so it covers the bend and tip of the hook, really not the rest of the hook, over the years i have landed some big carp biggest being bout 30 pounds and a lot of 20s and so on, so if ya aint tried just plain old bread do it, and if ya get hungry you can eat adn its cheap, also if your gonna use bread keep the extra sealed, dont let it get hard and crumbly otherwise it wont stay on the hook as well keep it moist
  11. anyone killing any snows in illinois or anywhere, aint doing much killing here in illinois, not many here
  12. 13. Re: Muzzy why does....? go to walmart and buy a 3 pack, and inside it will have a set of practice blades, try shooting the practice blade and see if ya like em, if you do keep em, and if ya dont take em back cause walmart will take anything back

  16. Re: greenhead gear full bodies the decoys look awesome but my buddies i hunt and myself have them and after a season the heads get beat up real bad, and we called avery about them and complained and they told us the decoys they make are for looks mainly they cant take a beating and they are made for the hunter who takes care of his decoys, but i know im always on the move while hunting and decoys getting put in the boat get beat up a little from rubbing, but they do look good and you can replace the flocked heads for 15 bucks a dozen, but i sure wish they lasted longer

    snows

out at murphysboro state park today, southern illinois, out for tree ID class, and me and my buddys heard snows and looked up and seen about 500 of them, thought to myself isnt it to warm for them to be down here already, 83 degrees yesterday and its nov. 9 today pretty bad, but going home this weekend up north hoping to put a hurting on the ducks hopefully
  21. Re: Windy Weather Whitetails been hunting here in illinois with the wind, friday and saturday went out with 25 + mph winds, figured why not cant hurt nothing saw nothing both nights went out sunday night dead calm took a doe and my buddy took an 8 pt with a kicker of hes g2, then went out tonight (wednesday night) to watch my roomate hunt didint even take my bow just starting him out wanting to get him a deer and it was windy tonight saw nothing, 3 windy days seen no deer 1 calm day saw 15 deer, gotta get rid of this wind, they say in the wind go against it and stalk towards the bedding areas, dont like to do that, but heard success stories about it, good hunting guys
  22. Re: bowhunting movies go get all the realtree monster bucks, monster bucks 13 this year was an awesome video
  23. Re: Poor broadhead performance i would go with the muzzy 100 grain 3 or 4 blade broadheads, then up above someone talked about the crimson talons, supposedly when they came out they were the talk of the crowd, ive seen them shot, they shoot very true and straight but i had 5 buddys switched to em when they came out and loved them when practicing with them, well after each one of them shot a deer with one they noticed the blades got really got banged up or even cracked or broke off completely, heard they arent too strong with contact
  24. Re: what kind of broadheads does everone shoot? use muzzy 4 blade 100g broadheads here
  25. Re: pre rut? well ive been waiting and getting ready for the duck season which was a crappy opener, but the reason i havent been out is ive been helping my roomate, im getting him into bowhunting this year and ive been working with him for a while and hes doing pretty good hopefully get him his first deer on friday, and school cuts down on hunting time too
