  1. Re: Team 18 I was able to harvest a doe fawn last Sunday, but I did not take a camera....duh! I will be back at it this weekend and during our muzzleloading after that, along with bow season till Jan 15th...all is not lost. Great job guys...just not seeing the big boys...lots of 10pt 1 1/2's though, and one decent 10 2 1/2 yo..he needs another year on him. Good luck and be safe.
  2. Re: Team 18 Looks like the rut is really getting geared up in MO now...looks like we missed the bigger movements by about a half week.
  3. Re: Team 18 The rut hasn't kicked in yet here in MO... But I did get an opportunity to pass on a very nice 1 1/2 year old...can't wait till he is 3 1/2! I should be able to connect on something here real shortly.
  4. Re: Nice buck (score???) mid 130"'s and 3.5 or more....hard to tell. Looks a bit thick in the shoulders.
  5. Re: World Series Picks!!!! [ QUOTE ] Tigers in 4... Cards don't stand a chance [/ QUOTE ] Yep, no chance at all... Game 1 Cardinals!!

  7. Re: That\'s a WINNER!!!!!!!Cardinals WORLD SERIES BOUND Cards win game 1....kinda made Detroit look silly. Way to go Reyes! Now if we can get a rain out...that will put our pitchers on full rest.... Go Cardinals!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  8. Re: Team 18 Backstrap Fever Gettin out in the morning...hope to tag a doe!
  9. Re: Team 18 I will get to hunt this weekend with my 6yo daughter...last year she call up a good 8 pointer before I was ready...I know now not to give her the grunt and bleat call before I am ready. Good luck to you all!
  10. Re: Taking a doe with twin fawns. Part 2. Whack her...if your area is holding does, and this one is having healthy twins...then she is probably very educated on hunting in the area and she will pass on this avoidance behavior to her offspring and others....and old educated doe is a bad thing for a hunter...whack the old doe, maintain your habitat, and look for bucks to cruise your area in search of does. These younger does might get confused and confine themselves to your area, even when spooked, due to not being led by the older doe. Just speculation, but I have to add another point of view...
  11. Re: Team 18 Congrats on the honeymoon...good luck in the future years of marriage. I went out last night and could have taken a heck of a buck grey squirrel...that was all...good weather and wind...just don't know where them deer were.
  12. Re: wyo bags a whitetail Where did you get that stock? Oh yeah...nice deer!
  13. Re: Planting Wheat Question Defcon, you are describing a good way to get clover or similar small seed to take...it takes a bit more prep to get the wheat to germinate well...but if you were to prep it like that and then get a good rain, you could have some good success. Now, does your road get 4-6 hours of sun?
  14. Re: Team 18 Congrats on the harvest... Here is huntinsanobsession's email... mailto:[email protected] Let's get him active on the team... I don't know about the other guy.
  15. Re: buck growl If nothing else, it makes a great grunt sound...can't wait to use it at the end of October.
  16. Re: HAS ANYONE TRYED THIS? homemade scent killer [ QUOTE ] [ QUOTE ] [ QUOTE ] yep---i've used it for 3 years now. [/ QUOTE ] No wonder you ain't killed nuthin!! [/ QUOTE ] BITE ME SPIKE KILLER [/ QUOTE ] Now that is funny!

  18. Re: Team 18 I was on the winning team...this ole boy helped out alot in the points...
  19. Re: Team 18 Backstrap Fever is good! I travel down to Cape every now and then...I have some family in Perryville and plan to hunt a couple different spots there too. I took a 150" 10 point last year and I have a minimum of a 8 point 130" or a 10 point 140" for my own standards.... The area in NE MO has had lots of rain and the crops and food plots were outstanding...I would not be surprised if a 160" was taken from our area...maybe two. But Missouri doesn't have any big deer...stay away! Unless you are a member of Backstrap Fever!
  20. Re: Team 18 Hey all!! Our bow season has been open since Sept 15...haven't had a shot yet. I hunt in the infamous region of NE Missouri. Hope to help this team win. Team name??? 13 or more Realtree Racks Bone Seers
  21. Re: im worryed everyone Hey Hunting Boy...we have had lots of blue tongue in Missouri and nearby Illinois in 2006. Look in your nearby water sources for deer carcasses and call your MDC official.
  22. Re: 2006 Huge CA Blacktail (pics) You are looking at a record book blacktail folks! Great job...where's the story?
  23. Re: ethics question If those fawns have spots, you need to do a better job of doe harvesting. Late born fawns are way behind in body weights and antler growth for buck fawns. Result--Spike bucks! The main reason you have fawns with spots close to the hunting season is an out of balance herd. Way too many does getting bred way too late in the season, BAD THING!....if you see a doe with a spotted fawn, you should really concentrate your efforts on taking lots of does. It is better for you fawning efforts in the future...not just an opinion, a proven fact. But your management efforts can be different than others, so the choice is always yours. Good Hunting!

  25. Re: imperial whitetail brand CLOVER help? Stick to winter wheat...you don't need to bother with clover. Takes a few years for a spike to become a 30 pointer... Also...use roundup at 2 quarts/acre and use a minimum of 15 gallons of water with that...I would also recommend a surfactant, or crop oil, to be in the roundup mix...helps it do it's job.
