    Oklahoma Brute

Re: Oklahoma Brute I have heard that OK has a bunch of big ones and a few have said that the next world record will come from North Central OK. Very nice deer, buck of a lifetime!
  4. Re: Rifle tag filled (pics)...... Very nice buck Todd, way to wait for the big boy. Nice Tikka also...is that a heavy barrel? Did you drag him to a plot for more pics? Way to go...that is what can happen to your bucks with proper nutrition and letting them get to maturity....Have you aged him yet?
  5. I have a retired guy up the street who likes to do woodwork. He made my first mounting board and it resembled a shield. The next looked like Missouri...boy, did he complain about the confluences of the Mississippi. I am looking for something else...looked at VanDykes displays and came up with a couple ideas, but you guys are really creative, so I thought I would throw the question out there. What looks good to you guys?
  6. Re: body size Late born fawns tend to be behind the eight ball when it comes to body size. They have less time to nurse and put on weight before their first winter...Studies show that these deer do catch up if given the chance to reach maturity. See what he looks like in two years, then make your harvest decision. I would bet that he will be a good deer!
  7. Re: Another successful weekend.pics How big is that deer, how much did he weigh? Just curious as to how big that spread really is. Ohh...very nice shooting too!! Hope you get your big one, also!!
  8. Re: 8-Point Very nice story Laura, 170lbs...what a giant!! As far as the rest of our scoring...I think we should hold our cards and see how they fall at the end of this contest...just kind of calling everyone else's hand at the end. What do you think...we already have one heck of a score...let's let some of the other teams worry about us!
  9. Re: 8-Point You have a better collection of game that I do...heck, maybe ever will. Glad to have you as part of the team!!!!
  10. Re: Dead or Alive- 11 pointer.. backstraps... yum yum! Very nice deer, Billygoat! I like his character also...it is always nice to have before and after pics. Congrats!!!
  11. Re: 8-Point That is an awesome deer! Congrats on the harvest...Very Nice Deer!!!
  12. 2nd Place!!! Well, the new scores are up and we are sitting pretty in second place. We would be in first if Sasksheds had his big boy entered, but I guess we have till next year to get him entered. Congrats guys and gals, what a team!!! What are the previous scores that win this thing?
  13. Re: Not Sure if you remember... Nice deer, but unless it folds out into a bed, my wife won't let me have a mount like that.
  14. Re: I AM GOING OUT OF MY MIND!!!! Share the harvest! Do your job to forward our heritage. You won't forget the feeling of being told Thank You! from a hungry person or facility that caters to helping the poor. Get your camera out and photo those bucks and learn how they move throughout the season, man, you have got to capture your opportunities!
  15. Re: Got my pics devlop. By the way...very nice deer!
  16. Re: Savage I have a 110 in 30-06, that is my deer killing weapon. Pillar bedded, action bedded, triggered and round developed...never will buy another deer killing weapon. Also have a 12 in .308 that I put a sniper stock in, triggered, and to date the best group at 100yds is .375. Have a 12vs in .243 that I have not found a round that will shoot out of MOA...Can't say enuf about savage...their forward thinking has put them on top of the low budget market....don't tell the browning guys or the rem guys that we can outshoot shoot them for about $500.00 less...retail. Here is the secret...button rifling, with very carefully watched machining standards..How you cut the rifling determines how it will shoot...Muzzle crown, bedding, trigger jobs, action bedding, round development...just sprinkles on the icecream!
  17. Re: Spring planning: what do I put in? For an early draw and a plot starter, buckwheat and sunflowers....after that the winter wheat, oats, cowpeas, and brassicas are very hard to beat...thanks DD...
  18. Re: Plot Management Suggestions Needed Plant you a white cedar groves in rows that you can set up a tower stand to see down all the rows. Wintering ground, sanctuary, and various shooting lanes. The does will grow to love it, they will draw the bucks, and you will tag your buck! Give them cover and quiet....they will come!
  19. Re: Buffalo County, Wisconsin Beast!!!! He is way over 300, the guy has to sit back due to the size of that beasty, no...I do not want a shot at something that big...noone would believe the story of the one that got away. Beautiful deer, I would like to know what it has been feeding on and how old it is.
  20. Re: Stealth Buck Bombers Congrats WGumz, can't wait to see him!
  21. Re: My gun buck! Should have asked earlier...what will he score? The right brow is 3".
  22. Re: question on shot placement? High shoulder or neck, you gotta deposit that bullet or slug enery into the spine. If you get a good broadside, take out the shoulders. If your shot is from some other position, take out as much vitals and backbone that you can. Spank that spine and it won't go a foot.
  23. Re: Stealth Buck Bombers http://www.realtree.com/forums/showflat.php?Cat=0&Number=813344&an=0&page=0#813344 Way too tired right now to get into more details. Please tell me what I have to do to get this counted officially in our team records.
  24. My story is not all that flashy, but here goes. I was hunting Sunday night when I took this boy. I hunt NE MO on a new lease, to me! I had passed on a couple of really small eight pointers and numerous other tag fillers until this guy walked into the zone. He was looking for the scent I laid down, doe estrous, and stood at a perfect broadside at fifty yards. I am so stoked about the lease and how the guys have managed the deer. If it would have been bow season, I would have freaked. Not so good at controlling the nerves at the string equipped stick thrower device. But I keep trying!! Hope all your hunting goes well.
