Hang in there Dan...good gobblers do not come easy.

Sheesh Chris...I did not know you had a heath issue:o. Good news on the test results and I hope you improve soon. I will definitely keep you in my prayers...stay strong. I popped in here because I was looking for info on disabled sportsmen. I will be helping out at a rehab hospital in a few weeks at Sports Expo for the disabled. This hospital is close to the house, so when I saw they were having a sports expo, I thought it would be a good opportunity to promote Archery for the disabled. I contacted my region rep for NY Bowhunters, got the ball rolling and we will have a group of members promoting archery as a activity for disabled people. NY does not have any crossbow provisions for any disabled people who can pull a trigger. So basically one would have to be a quadriplegic to get a crossbow permit in NYS. That should change. Hopefully it will.

Hmmm sticky situation. I'd be very suspicious also about his reasons for trying to stick you with the ferry bill:mad:. BUT...they did come to your home and make a service call. Now whether or not we agree with the value of that service call, is a whole 'nother issue. Most service repair guys get $65 just for stepping foot in the house. If they had a lot of calls on your island, then there is no reason I cannot see you work it out with them. Stand tall, squeaky wheel gets the grease.

Fred Eichler is one of my favorite hunters. Does it all with a stick n string;). Great pics, thanks for sharing them.

Thanks for the concern folks. Yeah I was shaken up, maybe not as near as my youngest. He was very quiet and introverted. Maybe because his side was the one that brushed against the telephone pole. I was mistaken in saying that no summonses were issued. Sean was issued a moving violation for passing on the right on a 2 lane road and a summons for driving at a high rate of speed. Sean was speechless and didn't even want to look at me at the scene. I was more grateful that everyone was OK then being angry. Yeah...definite close one for sure. Funny thing...Joe has been buggin' me to get a car on the road for him so he could get a better job with better pay away from town. Now this...ahh...little kids little problems...big kids...big problems. Yup, we were all kids once and I gave my folks a few heart attacks I'm sure. My turn to get them back. Thank you again everyone for your concern.

We had good weather out yesterday, so my 3 sons and some of their friends go off to the local elementary school to play some baseball. They finish up and my son Joe and his girlfriend get in her car to come home, and my son Joes friend, Sean takes my other two sons AJ & Mike in his car(subaru WRX). Joe leaves first and Sean a few seconds later. Joe is right down the road from the house and his friend Sean comes speeding up(confirmed by wittness') and tried to pass Joe on his right(2 lane street), hits a depression in the street, threw his car off track. Runs partially up on a lawn(losing control), missing a hydrant, side swipes a telephone pole(loses the door mirror), just misses t boning Joe driving his girlfriends car. Comes off the lawn skidding sideways, does a 180, takes out a stop sign across on the corner and the house accross the street hedges stopped the car completely. No one hurt. All 3 of my sons could have been hurt seriously in the same accident in different cars. 2 of them were in the back seat of the car that just narrowly missed the pole, skidded out and came to a halt on the hedges. Joe came close to getting hit on the passenger side dead center. My wife and I got the call and we went flying down the road to the scene. I made sure that all the kids were OK and then it hit me what a HUGE tragedy I could have had on my hands. I had to be alone a minute or two to regain my composure. My eyes swelled up with tears and I realized how close my life, my wife's life and my sons lives could have changed forever. I have been hugging them every 5 minutes since. The biggest scare I have ever had with my sons all at once! I have seen them crash on dirt bikes, get hit by walking into kids swinging bats playing ball by not paying attention, fall into thorn bushes, even minor surguries...but NOTHING compared to the feeling we went through yesterday. I had to share this because I am still somewhat shaken up. Some of you guys may have already been through this stuff, kids driving, and accidents. But my baptism on this one was by fire and I never want to feel that way again. I know it could have gotten very ugly and I am so thankful to God for protecting my boys. I can only imagine what parents that didn't get such a ending must go through. No tickets were issued and the home owners were very caring and cooperative regarding the incident. The boys will go back to the homes today and fix the lawns and clip the hedges of what they damaged. The highway supervisor lives on our road and he was heading home too. He said he'll take care of the stop sign and the town will not file suit. These kids dodged some big bullets yesterday and I hope they know how lucky there were. Oh boy how fast life can change... Now as far as the kid that was speeding...

Hope he gets back to feeling better and well in no time. Nothing like kids going for med procedures to scare the crap out of the parents.

Very cool original mount. You need some space for that one. Thanks for sharing it.

Steve, what weekend is good for you? I'm sure we can set something up. I plan on hunting the whole month of May. Still have my #? I think I still have yours. Anthony -
Something I think you have earned with all your years in those camps. Congratulations, and I know you will do well on the state boards;).
-
I have full confidence that you will, over all; do great Ruth. Keep swinging.

That is funny Joe:D. Thanks for thinking of me. I think about my Realtree buds all the time. But yes, we did have Easter dinner out yesterday, but at my cousins home down in the city. In Staten Italy...Oops, I meant Staten Island . No restaurants We gave thanks and gorged ourselves very well;). I know you want to hear the menu... Starting off with a anti pasto( cheeses, dry sausages, olives, peppers, sun dried tomatoes, pizza grain(grain pie), pizza rustica( pie with eggs, meat cheese and peppers),Olive bread.Then..., 30 minutes later. Out came the home made Manicotti,( we are only allowed 2 each:mad:) that my Mom made and stuffed herself. She is getting old(82) and I think this is the last year for her to do it:(. Then...15 minutes later... Out came the intermezzo...whats that you ask? Home made lemon ice, to clean the palate so the next course can be appreciated for the full taste that it will deliver. That next course is a full roasted ham on the bone, cooked with ginger ale and pineapple juice. With all the trimmings, broccoli, candied yams, cauliflower, carrots, arugula salad, string bean salad, breaded asparugus and stuffed mushrooms. Oh I cannot even mention the amount of cakes, pastries and cookies that were brought out for dessert. After all that, it is time to find a spot to sit down on the couch, undo the belt, let out a BIG sigh...suck the teeth a bit and go into Al Bundy mode( hand in the waist of the pants and head back on the couch). Then the ride home... with all the boys letting out some really NOXIOUS smells while we were all stuck in the van driving:eek:. My wife offered to ride on the roof back home:D Hope everyone had a Happy Easter..I know I did:)

Glad the event went well Kathleen:). The Eichlers look like real down to earth folk and I think it is great what they are doing for the youth of Alaska. Looking forward to more pics.
