Oh boy, I cannot wait for that day to come when I get to officially hang up my tools. I have been doing electrical work for the last 23 years in NYC and I am planning on retiring to the Texas Hill country in about 11 years when I'm 55. I would say 35 years in ANY trade or business is just about enough, let alone construction. I will most likely take a hit(penalty) for retiring early at 55, they want us to work until we are 58 for a full pension(maybe I can tough it out). With the way our employment is here, I cannot wait to get out. Good Lord willing, I can retire at 55. So I have come to terms with this statement. I will find a way to live on less money, but I cannot live on less life. Do what you can, when you can. Life is short. Staying busy is important and sitting on a porch watching the grass grow is not my kind of retirement. I want to wish all of you that are close to retirement health and happiness. May all your plans come true.

The .20ga is more than adequate for knocking down a turkey. Just know where the gun patterns and use a good quality shell, like a Winchester Supreme or a Federal turkey load in 3" for the maximum amount of pellets to head their way. Get a full of a choke as you can and KNOW how your gun patterns! Good Luck.

I agree Doc. DEC has taken soo much money from license sales and spread it everywhere except in the woods,streams and lakes. I am not a Grannis fan either, I wrote many letters against his appointment by Spitzer. He is a political appointee who wishes to hold on to his job also. A robot with Manahttan roots who has NO clue about the woods and outdoors. But...all things being fair...Under Grannis' tutelage, We have a youth turkey season, opening day was switched to Saturday to allow involvement by youth and others. Antler restrictions were underway before Grannis. Many more WMU's have opened up to rifle hunting. Maybe these items were rolling before Grannis, I'm not sure. But it is suprising to learn, that DEC is comprised of only less than 400 employees. Just watch how expensive licenses will become.

Man that was fast...I have had to, do just that a few times in the last month or so getting to our hunting camp. The road collapsing never came into mind. All I thought about was how high my truck was... But now...Thanks...I will be driving fast instead of taking pics driving slow, through the deep water. About 1/4 of our 60 acres is swamp. We see this flood type often in the Catskills. It is a watershed area for the water supply of NYC.
