Oh boy, I cannot wait for that day to come when I get to officially hang up my tools.
I have been doing electrical work for the last 23 years in NYC and I am planning on retiring to the Texas Hill country in about 11 years when I'm 55. I would say 35 years in ANY trade or business is just about enough, let alone construction. I will most likely take a hit(penalty) for retiring early at 55, they want us to work until we are 58 for a full pension(maybe I can tough it out). With the way our employment is here, I cannot wait to get out.
Good Lord willing, I can retire at 55.
So I have come to terms with this statement.
I will find a way to live on less money, but I cannot live on less life. Do what you can, when you can. Life is short.
Staying busy is important and sitting on a porch watching the grass grow is not my kind of retirement.
I want to wish all of you that are close to retirement health and happiness. May all your plans come true.
