i grew up right in there my friend....great area..... deer, pheasant, turkey, geese, ducks.....lots of stuff to hunt in the state....even elk..... lots of public ground to hunt....depending on what you hunt with you can find private. my experience is that if you bowhunt it's pretty easy to get in.... it's small town blue collar living in that area...everyone know everything about everybody...

not sure if this has ever been a post or not......but what's the most hair raising or scariest event that has ever happened to one of you while in the outdoors? something that made your heart stop or the hair on the back of your neck stand up!!!
-
that 2nd photo is not one i personally like to judge. views from the back with ears back can be deceiving.....130"

i am going with a small cougar. i saw a bobcat while hunting in so dak last year....it looked nothing like that.....was smaller and spotted....cool picture regardless of what it is
-
selling crew cab 09s here lariat for 20,999, with sticker prices of almost 40k........bad timing for me...but heck of a deal.
-
dakota, i am from se south dakota too, and i don't know anyone shooting the monster. only the reezen. i have a switchback, and will probably wait for a couple years to get a new one....too comfortable with this to change. but any mathews is worthy. we all know that

put $50 a month away for a year and it's paid for. then it does not seem like such a hit. you have the cash. lock it in a safe or take it to the bank. thats what i do... i live in NE, which is where i have to be to further my career....i hunt in SD, why, because i hunt with my dad and uncle. it's about who i am with, and the experience. not the $$.... that's only temporary.....the experience is worth every dollar....its a nice get away for me...the old man and i just discussed opening day today i ask myself whats important everyday....and being 26.... it's not going out and partying..... or having the best of the best of. it's about being ME......i spend about $300 on the tags.....but driving back every weekend....it's worth every minute and penny. goood luck to you!

i used to work with a pretty big REI. are you lookin to buy or sell? i have always been a fan of FSBO. Especially with the way things are now. If you are looking to buy, I have a wealth of knowledge. Cash permitting a guy could take the current situation and set himself well.

yes it is, i do not live there anymore......omaha now....not much opportunity in SD for what i do. so i had to move on to somewhere bigger, but close. so this works. i will pay the out of state fees to hunt. that doesn't bother me.
-
hahha trust me, i have entertained the thought of moving in

it is in SD dakota, thats where I hunt. I grew up right on that river i LOVE IT!
-
it's actually on the missouri.......man all the scouting we have done for the last 4 years we are within 350 yards for rifle shots. numerous trails for archery within 30 yards.....i went up with my dad the day after his birthday turkey hunting and it was just plain awesome. what happens in the shack stays in the shack. his turkey he got was 10 1/2" it was interesting getting that thing up. got the posts secured. then used a dyna lift since we pre assembled it. little nerve racking trying not to put tracks in the alfala and not have it fall off and go tumbling down the hill
-
sure makes hunting in the blistering cold more bareable. a little propane heater, chairs and an amazing view. 3 deer last year out of it and one turkey this year so far.
-
here's some pictures of the shack my dad, uncle, and i made last fall. pretty awesome i must say. it's already been through 70mph winds and not a scratch on her!
-
hopefully it's on, im making a three hour trip up to lewis and clark lake and the missouri river to hunt some big bucks the next two days. going to be a good time, i know they are rutting on the other side of the river/lake in south dakota, lots of buddies seeing deer and some nice ones being taken already. was going to head up tonight, but roads are not supposed to be good......going to take off early in the morning, get back about ten, stop by the local archery shop and pick up a few things, meet with the landowner and hopefully be out by noon or so....i only have tues and wed so i have to make it worth it.......
-
dang, heck of a deer bud.......157 is my guess. he sure has some mass, and looks pretty thick in the neck and well fed. great job........!!!!
-
ha, ha i know i tried uploading them on my computer, but for some reason it keeps freezing, i am currently researching other options......dad and uncle went out the other day at noon and there were deer out in the field feeding, small bucks chasing does and deer under the shack......they do not seem to mind it one bit. pics on there way asap.

well this weekend i made a quick trip home to help out and put up a new hunting shack that my dad and uncle have been building in the garage for the last month.....i need to get the pictures uploaded, but it is SWEEEET!!! my old man is a construction foreman so this thing is top quality....8x6, big enough for 2 people and a camera....3 windows. rubber roof....all green treated wood.....sitting on four 4x4 posts that are 12ft out of the ground...it's all braced up and even with a wicked NW wind this thing is sturdy as EVER! it over looks about a 100 acre alfalfa field, and the nice thing is, that we can get a food good looks at some little pockets where bucks have been coming out and get down and sneak down the fence and ambush them....no shot longer than 300 yards to any trail....and we have trails 20 yards away on both sides of it and in front of it.....it took us all day sunday to put it up. had to use a dynalift and there were only three of us...little nerve racking at times, but its UP!! scoute that night and the deer are coming out all around it and don't seem to notice it that much....next step is to get it all brushed in. this is something that has been in the works for a good 3 years and it's nice to have it done even after some headaches. pics coming soon.
-
thats probably true....but we don't drive ours to where we hunt whitetail....we leave it parked and use it for retrieval and other things.......and when we go antelope hunting and camp for days it's nice to have something gas opereated.....im sure they are great in their own way.....but it's not going to stop crunching leaves, breaking sticks, and even though it's electric it's still not totally silent....i've been with farmers who pull up hunting in their diesel trucks and deer don't spook they think it's a tractor or farm machinery......i wouldn't buy electric....

hahah how are the wolverines looking this year??? i dislike the huskers...... don't tell anyone down here though ok??!?! had a buddy that played at michigan state but got in some trouble there...how come it seems like trouble always follows bigtime college football players?

its not about a pill or a drug....im against pills and drugs.....and against the doctors behind them that reap the benefits from the manufacturers by selling them....there are a significant amount of people in my life that i deal with that have had negative and horrific experiences from drugs and pills...the pH of your body is a science, and drug manufacturers and pharmacutical companies don't take that into account.......treating the symptom and not the SOURCE.......you don't have to believe anything i say....and i could really care less if you do....i believe in what i do and the science behind it and the people i work with, that i'd be willing to get banned from this site forever....it's a passion....so go steal someone elses dream.....you fuel the fire.....i probably owe you.

no claims made partner, just sayin it's helped me personally, lots of people i am surrounded by and thousands across the world......and if ingesting water and green vegetables and things natural to your body is something that concerns you.....then you might want to look into it....some comments people make on here make me want to never post again, you try and help by giving good advice....putting people in contact with professionals.....and get ridiculed for it...for simply trying to help with someones' way of life....i guess those are the people too ignorant to help themselves....
-
hey everyone, need to check out this band if you like blues, southern rock, rock, and country...is a combination of all. my cousin is the founder of the band, and they are from sioux falls, sd and just got done touring....they are definetly coming up on the stage.......reminds me a little bit of the Zac Brown Band that waddell has on his myspace page.... their name is their web address and they have some sample songs, check em out!! i enjoy them and they put on one heck of a show.
