Re: What is your opinion on hunting bedding areas? I always stay away from the bedding areas. I always hunt the outskirts and trails leading to a known bedding area and feeding area. I also pay attention to the trails with rubs on them leading to a bedding area. Big bucks don't get big by getting sloppy. They do so by using their nose and ears.

I always thought NJ had big racks. Several friends of mine hunt NJ and they always end up with nice deer every year. I think it would be a great idea if the state proposed food plots. Hope it works out and I hope NY would propose such a great idea.

Re: Scent lok ???????? I used my buddy's marine carbon lined clothing and it worked for me. Had a doe come 8 yds to me, and I was ground hunting.

Re: Riding Four Wheeler into woods I hunt where plenty of quads are used during the summer (come hunting season the kids with their quads have been warned to stay out) so I believe the deer get used to the noise where I hunt. I could drive my quad 100yds before my stand and the deer won't even blick as I go by. Guess they get used to them and don't associate them with danger. At least where I hunt.

What would you do if you arrowed a buck and never found it right away. A week later you find the buck. Would you tag the buck's antlers or would you just take the antlers and not tag them?

Re: This may suprise you Never really needed a compass. Never hunted any land bigger than 300 acres. After a few round a bouts pretty much know the property like the side of my hand. But it would have been handy the weekend I hunted the Adirondacks and the week I was in Maine. Both times I had a guide and pretty much dropped me off and picked me up. But it would have been nice to explore a little.
