  1. Re: what kind of broadheads does everone shoot? Rocky Mountain Snyper 125, great mechanical Brother shoots G5 Montec 125 fixed broadhead and those are amazing, little tough to get razor sharp though Either head when placed well will put down a deer quickly, we have proven that!

  4. Anyone else in College and trying to get a good year of bow hunting in? I like almost 4 hours from our land and drive back every weekend from the last weekend in Oct. to the 3rd weekend in Dec. to go bowhunting, really puts a dampen on the time I got for school work but I make it work, just curious if anyone else is trying to fit college and bow hunting in the same schedule?

Don't know if it is something with the flash or what?

  14. What is everyone's reason or excuse for missing? I would to say the only time i missed was when I was younger and didn't have a judgement for distances, I was bad, also didn't have a range finder, now no excuse with those rangefinders! I would have to say the only time i missed was cause I didn't know the proper range.
  15. This weekend was a dream! I shot a 147.5" typical 10 pt. with a few kickers off his bases! I am so pumped still! We have been wathcing this deer for the past 3 years now and I finally got him! Here is the story... 2.5 years old - we get 2 trail cam pics of him this year BUT his left side of his rack isn't growing, turned out to just be velvet damage. Later in Feb. I found the right side of him, a nice 5 point shed, my first shed ever! 3.5 years old - We finally got sign that he was still alive when we got another trail cam pic of him during the rut, he really did some growing! Later that year in March I happened to pick up his right side antler as well, another great 5 point shed! Oh ya, he grew a great looking matched left side this year. 4.5 years old - We got another trail cam pic of him but this was a one in a million pic, actually you can see the turkeys set off the camera sensor and when it took the pic you can just see him walking away (he is on the right center edge of the pic, real lucky pic!), then we got another GREAT lookin' pic of him on our Leaf Rivers but I accidentally deleted the whole memory card so that pic is gone, oh well. Then came this past Sat...... THE HUNT...I walked in that morning and had a tough time getting in quite but I made it to the tree I had hunted turkey's by this past spring. I set out my scent bombs that were just freshened with doe estrus. Had them set out at 35 yards, well 9:00 AM rolled around and I had seen a few deer and we were doing our 9 o'clock radio check on the walkie-talkies and I was in the middle of talking and just said "...I gotta go!" I put the radio in my pocket and at first thought it was a turkey I saw coming at me through the timber. Then this big boy stepped out, at first I thought it was a different buck we had on film that I wasn't gonna shoot but once he turned his head I knew right away he was the buck we had watched grow up for the past 3 years! He crossed the fence and stepped out in the CRP field 35 yards away, walked right past my scent bombs, i grunted once and he didn't stop, then I grunted as loud as I could and he lazily turned and looked at me. I had the pin dead steady and right behind the shoulder! WHACK! I let it fly and seen it the whole way, i knew he wouldn't go far, I could see the arrow sticking out of him as he ran off. I waited 1 hour before tracking him and had my dad go the the ravine he ran in while I tried to find first blood, needless to say we didn't need to blood trail him cause I could almost pin point where he died and told my dad over the radio, we found him only 100 yards away! I did find my arrow back but the part of the arrow with my vanes on it was missing? Turns out when we were gutting it dad pulled the lungs out and there was the rest of my arrow right in the lungs! This was just an awesome experience not only for me but for the rest of my family, just to watch this buck grown up I found his right side sheds for the last 2 years, have pics of him the last 3 years and finally get him @ 4.5 years old! I think someone was helping me out cause anyone else in my family could have just as easily found one of the sheds or have sat in that spot that morning but I found each shed and shot the deer, someone was watching over me! Well, here is what you have been waiting for, here are some of the pics, don't have any with me and it yet, still gotta get the film developed these are some quick pics with the digital before we freezed it. Oh ya, I am gonna mount him myself! Just adds a little personal touch to it, we just started doing our own taxidermy and it really gives everything a little more meaning I think! Here ya go... These are the sheds, the lighter colored one is the 2.5 year old one and the other one is his 3.5 year old one... This is one pic when he was 2.5 years old... This pic is when he was 3.5 years old... This pic is one taken this year when he was 4.5 years old, he is in the right center of the pic walking off, really lucky pic!!! Here he is, sorry I can't get better pics, these were just quick ones, I'll try to get the other ones up later...you can kinda see the kickers off his right base, hard to see with the cement back ground...
