  4. My dad, sister, brother, and me did some bowhunting this weekend and Sat. afternoon it was like 20-25 mile and hour winds so we didn't see a thing but Sun. morning it was like 45 degrees and just got done raining at dusk and the deer were moving a little. I saw two deer cross on a trail about a 100 yards away through the timber both with their heads down and movin', the one was a big bodied deer more than likely a buck, and my dad saw a buck chasin' a doe, and my brother also saw a buck. Seein' some bucks and some chasin' and trailin' action, nothin' too crazy but they are startin' to look for those does!
  5. Re: Check him out smal l6 or 8 good lookin' young buck, gotta love those trail cams!
  6. Re: What are your opinions on this shot angle? I feel comfortable enought to take the shot but I only take it with in 20 yards, I have one pin for all shots under 20 yards and I can hit a quarter every time, I have a lot of confidence in my short distance shots and I know just where to place it. I have the confidence to take that shot, just me personally.
  7. Re: Quick question I would clean it and sharpen it, never can hurt to be safe!

  21. It was the first day of the IA youth pheasant season and my dad and I took my younger sister out to get her her first bird, she is only 13! The first one got up right at her feet and she just watched it fly off! We had a good laugh, then she missed the next 3 singles and only would shoot once at them, my dad told her if she misses the first shot to shoot again... then we were walking through a little piece of cover and I was on one side and she was on the other with my dad and the dogs were working the middle and I heard my dad yell "ROOSTER", she shot once, missed, then shot again and dropped it! She was so excited! When the bird got up I just layed on the ground so she would have safe shooting all around, it turned out the bird flew right over my head and i seen the whole thing happen right above me, when she shot the bird I could have caught it on the way down but let the dogs do the work! I don't know who had more fun, me, my dad, or her! I got some pictures but no clue how to post them, I'll work on that later
  22. Re: October Buck nice lookin buck
  23. Re: Question for you guys! I would try a grass herbicide like grass-be-gone, never tried it but we are gonna spray for grass in our plots next year and this is the stuff we are gonna try
  24. this spring we planted a few seed blends, these were Tecomate Chicory, Tecomate Deer Grazer Alfalfa, and Imerial Clover. This stuff grew great, we had fertilized the land, did an alright job on weed control, and the plot looked great for its first year. One question of mine was that the deer were eating it all summer but when Oct. 1st came around and the first real cold weather hit the deer just hammered the plot, this plot is around 1 acre and is just eaten to nothing. There is minimal green left and the deer have eaten it all, my question is will these plants grow back next year?
  25. Re: More Iowa Poaching. The farmers who rent and work our land say that they have believe there has been some poaching problems going on, on our neighbors land but we haven't caught them yet, boy will they be sorry when we do........i don't know what to say about poaching...really a bad subject for me.....I guess those poachers are lucky I don't make the rules is all I can say
