  1. Re: I CAN\'T BELIEVE I MISSED ANOTHER BIG BUCK i had a deer to the same thing one year while i was shotgun hunting. My slug dropped so low it actually hit just in front of the deers leg on the ground and it stumbled. I know this because there was another guy there watching me do it. That could possibly be what happened.
  2. Re: what a disappointement this morning Well it is a dissapointing morning because I didn't get one. I see 4 or 5 deer everytime I am out so it is nothing new to me. To many deer around here and always see them.
  3. Re: Balancing College and Bow Hunting... Used to but then i found some land around my college and it worked well. Also bowhunted alot of public land. Here anyway I am suprised on how many people don't hunt private land. There were six of us hunting a public land that was 1500 acres.
  4. Re: Do you hunt with a stabilizer? I bought one of the new limb saver stablizers. Had a cobra one on my bow that has gone through every bow i have ever used. I think they work well and they do reduce vibration which in return reduses noise.
  5. Re: what a disappointement this morning Tonight was a different story though. Didn't get home till about 430 from work so had about a good hour of light. Went out to the field and watch a 150 class eight point head towards the stand that my dad was sitting in. Well he never made it there and took another trail. But still got to see he is in the area. With the amount of does we have in the area i believe he will be sticking around.
  6. Re: what a disappointement this morning You can't hunt on sundays?????????? That is weird. I think they let us hunt everyday to get as many deer out of here as we can. I would go crazy not being able to hunt on sunday as well.
  7. Re: One Bummed Out Hunter...Pics... Sorry to hear that, I have had a jennings split limb airmaster 2000 for 4 years and nothing like that has happened. Maybe look into buying one of them. They are half the price of a hoyt and matthew and mine is alot quieter than my buddies mathews. Just a thought.
  8. Got to the stand this morning. Temp wasn't to bad in the upper 40's NE breeze about 10 to 15 mph. Within the first 20 min. had 4 does walk right under the stand thought to myself good now the buck will come by. Waited and waited and waited. Got down at 9am and called it good without seeing the buck. Saw a total of 8 does. Oh well there is always this evening. Just needed to post this to see if anyone elses morning hunt was like this.
  9. Re: need help with details of this guy Take the pic to the sheriff's dept. They can have it sent in to the state and they can enhance it to look at the tattoo for sure, then they can run a check of all the arrest records and look for a description of someone in your area if he has ever been arrested with a tatoo on his right arm. At least here we do that when they get arrested all scars and tattoos get written down about them.
  10. Re: someone has to know????? Not sure. I have been told they can and can't see colors by so many that I have given up trying to figure it out. I wear all blaze orange during shotgun season here and i haven't had a problem with it. Just don't wash your clothes and then they won't glow as much in the treestand.
  11. Re: Scent-lok i do once in a while. Seems to be about 3 times a hunting season and I don't have a single problem.
  12. Re: Hot Weather Ruins The SC Rut Again Don't worry we are in the 70's here until tomorrow then low 50's for the next week. Going to be out every morning and night next week for sure.
  13. Re: MT Muley and Pronghorn wow someday i will get to kill them. Looks fun to me. Congrats.
  14. Re: doe decoy?? thanks for the info. cutter. will try it. Our rut is starting pretty well now and thought it would be the time to use it.
  15. Re: What would YOU do about this girl?? I would give it a try and see what happens. Never know it could work out have to give most things a chance. Live and learn.
  16. Re: Rattling Patterns don't really have any certain pattern but i rub mine on a tree and then rattle them together. Nothing special but it seems to bring in the bucks.
  17. Re: I am out of here .......... good luck kill a big one.
  18. Re: Don\'t practice in the house I practice down in my basement. Plenty of room. House is 60 foot long.

    NE Iowa deer

Re: NE Iowa deer I will second that. I know there are big deer in NE iowa. Have shot 2 bc bucks and my dad has shot 4 bc bucks out of NE iowa. Nice to have 2000 acres of privated land to hunt.
  20. Re: my 1st turkey with the bow! Can't see the pic but congrats with the bow kill. Never have killed one yet with the bow. It will happen someday though when i have more time. I just still use the ol smoke pole.
  21. Re: Got my 1st bow kill (PIC) congrats. it is great getting the first one under your belt.
  22. Just curious on anyones info on using one. This is my first year at using a doe decoy and was wondering if anyone had any tips on location for it by your stand or what. I just got a inexpensive silohoute one to see if they really work or not.
  23. Re: MY FIRST BUCK AND HES A BRUTE! nice bucks looks like a shooter for sure.
  24. Re: What would you seasoned hunters do? Looks pretty good. I would build a blind there for sure then if the ducks go into the flooded timber you can always be portable and hunt them. Should would well though with a wind out of every direction except for south.
  25. Re: Short Reed I have been using short reeds for 5 years now and love them. Had a long honker before that worked very well but the short reed is alot easier to use and needs less air. I have on my lanyard, a sr-1 paralyser, a half breed, the hammer buck buck gardner and the hammer from HS. All work very well.
