Re: cannot believe the new TN regs All that law has done is basically made hunting off your ATV legal. That's it. The centerfire rule has been that way in AL for many years and as you can see, we don't have any less deer.

Re: Texas gun hunt IF someone knows of a ranch I can kill a 150" buck for $3500 or less, please let me know. I've been twice to Texas, going back next year but I've never seen anywhere I could do that but one place and it had to be an 8 or 9pt. Chances of that is slim.

Re: Realtree Roadtrips HUH? Sounds like some of the board members need to go with ya for more footage. LOL I do agree, Road Trips is the best on T.V., without a doubt. Keep up the good work.

Re: Truck Decals I don't think these are exactly the ones I'm looking for. Thanks for the help though. Much appreciated! ANymore?

Re: Bill Whitfield hunts I think he got the idea off of Realtree's website, not sure though. If this hunt is as good as he says the website looks, I may go back to Texas again myself. I'm looking for somewhere for me and my father to go.

I remember seeing somewhere a company that will custom make you decals of deer you actually killed. I believe you just send them some pictures and they do it on the computer. I saw one not long ago on a truck of his deer and the B&C score. It looked really cool. I have seen a website for this but can't find it anywhere. Help?

A friend was asking me about this outfitter. I told him I had heard good things but I figured I would see if any of you guys have visited him. I think he is specifically looking at the management hunts that is offered. Anyone know anything about this outfitter?

Re: Lonely In Lousiana !!!!!!!!! I went to Slidel (sp?) while I was overseeing cleanup crews in MS in February. Nice looking town. Most of LA I've seen was at night, driving through on my way to Texas deer hunting. I also slept in a Ramada Inn parking lot in Shreveport one night. We got real drunk playing in the casino and couldn't find a room and I sure wasn't driving.

Belly crawling/stalking (a civil discussion)
tennswamper replied to pointing_dogs_rule's topic in Turkey Hunting
Re: Belly crawling/stalking (a civil discussion) I don't like stalking them, only done it once. However, stalking and shooting a turkey is 100x harder than calling him in, that I know from experience. I do trust myself and I don't shoot at movement. I've let turkeys on a few occassions get away from me just because all I saw was movement. That being said, there is also a big difference in gobbling tubes and real turkeys and if anyone else might be on that bird, I would know. If they are tresspassing, they are in harms way regardless. -
Re: Nebraska success (pics & story) [ QUOTE ] [ QUOTE ] [/ QUOTE ] I was hunting near O'neill and Spencer, NE. [/ QUOTE ] Well, I was told in November that the nearest real hospital was in O'niell. LOL I think that is about 50 miles from where we were.

I've never been a member of this organization but have been thinking of joining. Any experience with them here?

Re: summer deer feed Trophyrock.com If you want something good for the deer and something that will draw them to the camera, look no further.

Re: Nebraska success (pics & story) Where were you hunting? We were near Springview two weeks ago. We drove from Florence, AL though. 18 hours. LOL

Re: Monster Bucks 14. It's well known that all T.V. shows hunt behind fences and Realtree is no different. Now, whether or not it's a "canned" hunt is a matter of opinion. I've hunted behind fences in Texas and the deer are no less tame than outside the fence, at least not where I hunted. So, yes, they hunt behind fences but "canned"? That's left up to your interpretation.

This is bird #1, shot on Thursday morning around 7am. This was bird #2, shot on Saturday around 2pm. This is my dad with his first turkey ever! He shot him the first morning around 6:30 I think. YOu can hear the shot on my video. This is pics of the area we were hunting. If you look at this pic on the far right, you can see where I shot my deer just to the right of them last November.

Re: Deadbeat Dads!!!!!!!! True MCH. Guys, I'm sorry if I brought up any bad feelings on this subject. That was not my intention at all. What gets me is the fact that they say he was a great dad until then. Always around, spending time with them. He had a great job, ect. Heck, he even took my girlfriend hunting with him all the time. I have wondered what I would do or say if I ever met him. I hope he's nice or it could get ugly, fast! I have no respect for those like him.

I just need to vent a little here. I have been dating a girl for almost 2 years. We are planning on getting married next summer. She had done well for herself, being a teacher and all and is a very, very good person. However, in the 2 years we've been dating, I've never once met her father. He left them about 8 years ago. She was around 17 when it happened. It started sooner than that but that is when they finally had to leave the house because he wouldn't. Anyway, he has had nothing to do with them since, NONE!!!!!!!!!! He is 10's of 1000's of $$$ behind on child support (don't have to pay now of course for her but her sister is still in college) and even spent all of her and her sister's inheritance from her grandfather, that was in a trust fund for them. Lucily, a lean on his house forced him to pay it back when he sold it. Smart move on her mother's part. Now, I don't know the hole story but I know the last straw was him cheating on her mother, who happens to be one of the nicest people I have ever met. This family is one in a million, same for her grandparents and her stepfather is 100% real and as good as it gets. I just don't understand people like her father. I can see the hurt in her eyes when she talks about him. Her sister is getting married saturday and sadly, her father, who was a great dad according to them til 8 years ago, probably won't show up and frankly, they don't want him there. I've been put in charge of escorting him out if he does. How can anyone do this to their kids???????????????? Sorry, I just can't understand it. I don't have any kids yet but 26 years of having great parents just blinds me to reality on this matter I guess.

Re: Bunny hotel right out my patio door..... Just leave them if you can. Rabbits grow and mature quick. They will be on their own soon if left alone. Or, you could raise them and at the right time, fry them up with some gravy.

Re: Whats the best food plot? Save yourself money and mix your own blend at a seed store. Although I do use a few Biologic (Green Patch and Clover Plus) and Tecomate products (mostly chicory), it is much cheaper to mix your own. If you can grow clover, then grow clover. Any type of broad leaf will work for both attractiveness and nutrition. Our deer love Buck Forage Oats also.

Re: 2005 Results You want to see real time, accurate numbers, go look at Tennessee's results. They are hands down the very best with their check stations. Their new electronic check in is very nice. You can actually see total numbers for counties every day as it is updated.

Re: Getting a bird to my taxidermist RTF, considering I've never once "gutted" a turkey, is there a good website to show where the cuts are to be made. Like I said, every single turkey I've ever killed, we have simply filleted the breast out so there was no need for gutting. With the exception of the one this year that is to be mounted from here. He went whole to the Taxi, the next day.

Re: 2005 Results NO! Ridiculous! They say they have a survey but I've been buying my license here (I actually live in Alabama) since I was able (16 y/r old) and I've never seen one and neither has anyone else I know. I do not know of a club that kills anywhere near 1/4 of their deer herd down here, not one. I'll even go as far as saying that even if we did, how in the world do they know the numbers? I've heard all the ways they use to come up with them but without tags or checking stations, it is impossible to know. Heck, most clubs don't even know how many they kill.
-
Re: 2005 Results ROFL!!!!!!!!! Alabama has absolutely 0 statistics to prove they killed that many deer, 0, 0, 0. No tags, no checking system whatsoever. This state does not know what is being killed. I doubt that is even close. Do you think we killed 1/4 of our estimated population? ROFL, ridiculous. States need to take some lessons from the TWRA (Tennessee). Now they know what is going on.

Re: How many Deer have you taken?? I think my total is 53 +- 1 or 2. I killed my first on November 6, 1992 at age 12. DIdn't kill my second til age 15 with lots of misses. lol My biggest bucks are the 152" 13pt, 130" 8pt and another 131" 9pt. Got some smaller 8pts, 7pts and one nice 6pt. My girlfriend says I have to many mounts but I guess she'll have to get over it since I've got 2 more coming. I guess 7 will be enough of them for another year or so. LOL

Re: Getting a bird to my taxidermist Sorry guys, it will be turkeys! I know keeping it dry is very, very important. Dry and cool, dry and cool, dry and cool. I need to plant that deep in my mind. LOL
