  1. Re: Nebraska deer Anyone that hunted North Central NE the week of gun season knows what I'm talking about. I'm sure the cold didn't bother the locals but I'm a southern boy. lol Hot then cold, then windy, then snow, then windy again. After I shot him, it was hot again, then cold again. GGRRRR. Glad I was done. Buddy hunted til Saturday morning.
  2. SOme of you gave me lots of confidence last month before I headed to Nebraska. The weather was screwy as heck and this buck was shot in -20 windchills on the 4th day. NOt what I went for but I'm happy all the same. Unofficial gross of 131"
  3. This is the group picture of our Texas hunt last week. Out of respect for the sponsors on here, I won't post the outfitter's name unless the moderators give me the OK. Anyone wanting info on them can PM me and I'll be more than happy to share it or anything else about the hunt with you. What I can say is this, these guys were absolutely first class and we all enjoyed every minute we were in Texas. This was my second trip to Texas and my second ranch and I will be back to this one. I can also honestly say that my buck wasn't the biggest one I saw either. Oh, did I mention they have plenty of deer and big ones at that and yes, it is all free ranging, no fences. In 5 days I saw over a dozen bucks over 140" and the guides put me into position to shoot them all. It was my choice to pass on the ones I passed on. Anyway, here's the picture. Bucks from left to right: 140" 10pt 136" 14pt 153" 13pt Me! 141" 8pt 152" 10pt
  4. Re: I CAN\'T BELIEVE I MISSED ANOTHER BIG BUCK I've shot at two does I swore I hit with a mzl and no blood or hair out of neither and I searched in big cirlces. Sometimes, they just flinch real bad. I would too!!!! lol
  5. Re: Anyone from Northern NE? I'm in the Keya Paha unit on a private ranch. THe deer where I hunt in TN are really starting to mess with the does but we are still 2 weeks away from peak chasing, estrous chasing anyway. I shot a doe saturday being followed by one yearling buck and missed one ealier that was being followed by 2 yearlings. Most of the people I've talked to says that the action can be hot and fast during the gun season but with all this warm weather, I'm just wondering what they are doing and what to expect with temps in the 50's.
  6. Re: Anyone from Northern NE? Hoyt, I'll be in the Springview area. I'm worried about the weather with highs in the 50's and lows in the 30's. Is this turn "off" or turn "on" weather for your neck of the woods. Looks like 50's will be a cool down from early this week.
  7. Just wondering. I'm headed there for the gun opener and was wondering what the deer were doing as far as pre-rut activity.
  8. Can someone tell me what is the most bucks one can kill with a bow in Connecticut. Someone was asking on another board. I read you can only take 2 on their website, is this right?
