  2. I just finished applying online, just deer and elk muzzloader. Figure if I dont get the one I want I'll just get a leftover tag in augest.
  3. Since I can't go scouting or hunting yet because the snow is still too deep:(, I am lurking the boards and drooling every time one of you guys gets a bird:eek:. Both of those birds are great and will be the anchors for the team. Now all the rest of us have to do is get a bird and we should be sitting pretty.:D:D
  4. Awsome bird! And that is great for your son too, I have done that twice now and it is an awsome feeling to get two with one shot. That's a a perfect bird and hunt with you and your son. CONGRAGULATIONS:D:D.
  5. man that sounds awesome, "livin the dream man, livin the dream".
  6. Man you guys are killing me, I really want to get after those birds. Good luck to you all.
  7. I live just below Pikes Peak at 8500ft, and I work in Cripple Creek that is at 9500ft. I have been here a year and a half and came from southern oklahoma 600ft. I completely agree with you about the roller coaster I feel it every day but it seems to be letting off a little. When I went turkey hunting last april the temp was 0 and we were at 8500ft I got a severe infection in my lungs from sucking air so much. since then I have gotten in a lot better shape and elk season was not that bad at all, but I still feel the effects of no air.
  8. Hey Dale, I know what you mean. When I owned the Feed Store I would Pay 7 dollars an hour CASH and work right along side the person and not have them do anything that I wasn't doing. I rarely had anyone last more than two days and if they did last they only lasted about a week. That was one of the main reasons that I got out of business for myself. I just was killing myself 24-7 because I couldn't find any help.
  9. my season here in Colorado starts april 12th and goes untill may 25th, that sounds like a long time but these birds up above 8000 feet are hard to hunt, unless you are ready to run a triathelon which I am most definatly not going to be doing anytime soon. We are only alowed to get one bird a year here and I am gonna take the first one I see. Then I will take a few of my friends and try to help them.
  10. Hey guys just checkin in, Turkey Tales sounds good to me.

  14. Hey Guys, this is my first elk season and I am looking for any tips that will help. I am hunting a area that has a lot of elk and and two days ago I saw two bulls sparing and their horns were already clean. I live at 9000 ft so I am already use to the elevation. I drew first rifle season in unit 59 bull only. if anyone has any tips or info for this area it would be greatly appreciated. Thanks ahead of time for the help!
  15. I just bought the Stoeger 2000 turkey this year and it is great, yes it does use the Benelli chokes and I have had no problems with the gun.
  16. Well the last day of the season came and I had been outdone every weekend for the last month and a half. At 5:00pm I got off work on sunday and headed up the mountain to where I hunt. When I got out there a heavy thunderstorm had just blown over and everything was perfect there were deer and elk everywhere so I thought the birds ought to be gobbling. To get to the area that I had been seeing the birds come off of the roost I had to hike over two mountains wich equaled about a mile and a half in some very rough country. When I got into the area where I have been seeing the birds wich is about halfway up the third mountainI set up above the roost area and start calling and heard an immediate response about a mile away down the valley. Normally at this point I have been moving toward the turkeys that I could here and they would go the other way, so this time I just stayed there and waited and the turkey quit gobbling. About forty-five minutes later I heard a bird on top of the mountain let loose a gobble that sounded like it was about 200yds away so I repositioned to where I was looking up hill and let out a few yelps with my mouth call and the bird cut me off. It only took about three minutes from the first gobble till the bird was in range and to my suprise there was three birds coming toward me and the first one had a decent beard and the other two were jakes. When they got to 40yds the two jakes started putting and stoped so I thought now or never, BOOM!!! and ther lay my first merriams and only bird of the 2007 season. For some reason my pics won't download so I will e-mail them to strut.
  17. I scored!!!!!! Well guys on the last day with only one hour of daylight left I finally got my bird. He is 21.5lbs, 8 3/4 beard, 3/4in spurs. Not the biggest bird I ever got but I worked harder for this bird than any other. I will post pics tomorrow.
  18. well guys, Saturday is the last day that I will have a chance to get a bird. I got real close last weekend, but could not get a clear shot. In the morning I will shoot anything with a hint of a beard, I am not going to be picky. Good luck to all of you still hunting and wish me luck.
  19. I still have until the 27th. I plan on hunting tomorrow from 4:00pm till dark and saturday all day long. Hopefully I will be able to get a bird and add some points for the team. So everyone wish me luck.
