Re: Steel Targets We shoot steel here all the time. Mostly head sized targets 8" at 7-10 meters and large heads 12" at 10-20 meters with 9mm. They don't hold up so well to the AK but that's what paper is for. I've also got a few specialty racks (square, triangle, bowling pin, and two rectangles) as well as a "Texas" Star. We shoot standard issue 9mm ball and have few problems with riccochet. Shrapnel, every now and again... Eye Pro is manditory for a reason. The plates hang with a slight downward angle so that deflects most of it to the ground. I'll dig around and see if I still have photos of the Star. That thing is a lot of fun. It begins to rotate as you knock the plates off.

Just walked out of the chow hall with a friend of mine and the conversation turned to hunting. (Go Figure) Anyway, my friend just bought a house in Bethlehem and was asking me about the requirements to hunt there. I told him I have no clue, other than a HSC was probably manditiory, but know some folks who might. His main questions were license costs, where to get the HSC and it's cost, and if there were any good hunting spots near his home. Thanks.

Re: Ant farms?? HG it was a setup EXACTLY like the one shown above. Those little plastic caps are no match for a 3 year old who is determined to set them free. I actually mis-spoke earler, it was only one can of RAID and 20 to 30 minutes of fun with the vacuum cleaner.

And if the AC can stand it, you can hang meat in there. My roomie and I have had that discussion more than once.

Re: How the media portrays our troops This is entirely my opinion and can in no way be construed as an official statement. The view from my foxhole isn't much different. The guys on the ground, I won't say hate, but have some severe dislike for most of the media. Some are reporting the good things going on here. However, far more are not. The job I'm in now is fairly high profile. Can't really get into it but I do run across reporters from time to time. Stuff that should be "good news" stories get buried under other things. I guess it falls back on what sells better "A school gets rebuilt" or "GI's rape and kill civilians" It's frustrating. But, the fact is, good things are happening here whether the media reports it or not.
