  8. Well boys and girls it's been a while since I've been able to surf thru here. The last couple of months have been busy. I got the orders for this little trip the day before Valentines (That sure made for an interesting dinner with the wife, but that's another story.) Spent the next 10 days clearing and moving Mama and the boys back home. After that, 45 days of train up, then what seemed like a weeks worth of travel to Baghdad. Life here is not too bad. I've landed a pretty good billet working with the Police Transition Teams trying to get the infrastructue and services up to par so we can transition this back to the Iraqis. The work is interesting and I can acually already see results of what the people before me have done. Despite what the press puts out on a daily basis, the Iraqis I'm working with really do appreciate us being here and are working diligently (for Iraqis) to get the job done. Looks like I've missed most of Turkey season, the Crappie runs, and will miss Deer and Duck season also. Leave me at least one big one running and a few fish in the water. I'll pop in from time to time to update. God Bless

Do you remember the Career builder commercials from the superbowl. Here's something I found while surfing their site. I've had a lot of fun with this, hope you do too. http://www.careerbuilder.com/monk

    tanning hides ?

Re: tanning hides ? Sorry for the confusion, by 'soft' I mean one that is pliable. Guess I got thrown off by the post that said someone tans hides so that they can be mounted. I was thinking that someone tanned the hides and then mounted them on a form. I was just trying to point out how tanning and 'mounting' are two totally different processes that achieve totally different results. I get confused alot, comes from spending too much time in the woods. I hope you don't mind but I've saved a hard copy of your article and with some luck in the next couple of days will be putting it to use on the deer I'm planning to shoot. Merry Christmas (late) and Happy New Year.

    tanning hides ?

Re: tanning hides ? Tanning and Mounting are two totally different processes. When mounting an animal, you want the hide to get hard. It helps it adhere to the form. Although some people want their tanned hides to be hard, especially if they are making wall hangings or rugs out of them. The artilce that RTF linked to is dead on for making a 'soft' hide. Dad was a taxidermist and I wish I had a dollar for every hide we tanned.
  17. Re: USC or Texas? TT, I will be pulling for someone who won this year... USC After Four (plus) years at A&M, I'm too brainwashed to ever pull for the 'sips. Tell you what, next time I'm in H-Town, we'll link up and have a beer. 'sips win, I'll buy. Have a Merry Christmas & Gig 'Em.
  18. Re: USC or Texas? glad you enjoyed my little rant TT. My blood runs too Maroon to ever pull for the 'sips. Should be a great game though. Gig 'Em
  19. Re: USC or Texas? My money is on the Trojans. Bush is going to rush for at least 200 and Leinart will be out to show that he should be the Heisman runner up, not Vince. Besides t.u. always chokes in the big game. They didn't beat Ohio State, Ohio State beat themselves. Beat the He** outta t.u. Gig 'Em

  22. Re: Michigan Buck Stolen *REWARD FOR ITS RETURN* Hope the catch the pukes who did this. Poachers and Thieves, there is a special place for all of them. What I don't get is how could someone in good faith, conscious, or out of common friggin' sense and decency just walk (snowmobile) off with a deer they know isn't theirs. Obviously if they were any kind of hunter, sportsman, decent human being they would have seen the tracks to and from the animal. Man I hope they fry this guy (guys) like they did those poachers.

    .......

Re: ....... hey Life... That tweezer thing really sucks. Especially trying to pick up that crud that forms in the corners of the bathroom, kinda over behind the toilet, head, john, or whatever that thing is called.
  24. Re: Death Pentalty You'd love Huntsville, TX. The band tunes up on average of once a week. Since I'm out of the area now, It's harder to keep track of the number who have 'paid their debt' but I'm pretty sure it's still about once a week.
  25. Re: 4 Men, 12 Deer, Big Fines Should have been more. Poachers are one of the lowest forms of scum. These idiots deprived at least three hunters of possibly shooting the buck of a lifetime. I hope they rot.
