  1. So far it has been a pretty hard hunting here in N.N.Y. . The toms have been with hens and have not seperated untill very late in the day so Saturday I changed it up a bit. Instead of soft tree yelps first thing in the morning I let the toms gobble a few times then I did a fly down sound with my hat and started yelping right off. When I did this it drove the hens insane. They started cutting and yelping like mad so I made a challenge with aggressive yelping and cutting with my Williams glass call. Not 60 seconds later 9 hens flew down 80 yds from me followed by 4 long beards. After 30 minutes of a strutting show, a hen being bred and the tom I shot being beat up by two other birds, I took the first bird that came into range. It was a 41 yard shot and man those #5's did the job. Here are a couple pics. Marc
  2. The Bird Blasters Born2Hunt Here is my entry for 2007 The form says the beard is 8 7/8 inches but it is 8 15/16 inches after looking at the photo.
  3. Well team we got another bird to add to the score board. 19 1/2 lbs 7/8 inch spurs and a 8 7/8 inch beard. I will post a pic tonight. Marc
  4. Re: Low light food plots Whitetail institute has a blend called No-Plow and it only needs 3 - 4 hours of direct, broken or filtered sun per day and is recomended for log trails.
  5. Re: it finally happened..... [ QUOTE ] My prediction on this thread. Not much sympathy from the adults. Tons of sympathy from the younger crowd. I'm afraid I'd have to go along with the Police officer on this one. I know I would not appreciate a youngster doing wheelies and showing off a new exhaust in my neighborhood. Then again, I'm an old fart, and I like peace and quiet. [/ QUOTE ]I'm 32 but still love to ride like that. I think I am much safer riding like that in my yard than in the road but hey, the law is the law I guess. Here in N.Y. you can get a DWI riding almost anything on your property even a lawnmower. The law is the law weather we agree or not.
  6. Re: it finally happened..... Thats a load of crap! I sure am glad that the fuzz don't come around my house. I would be able to wall paper my house with tickets like that. Sometimes you just got to let your hair down and have fun thats why I bought a Raptor.
  7. Re: Would this Work? Like everyone else said,it will work!

  9. Re: Question of the month I have always chewed it. It drives my wife nuts!
  10. Re: Food plot help... Do not skip over the lime and fertilizer! This is as important as the seed itself. 1) Mow it. 2) spray the plot w/ round up. 3) wait a week and weed wack it to the dirt. 4)clear the debris w/ a rake. 5)spread fert and lime and work it into the soil with the rake. 6) broadcast the seed just before a nice rain and roll it in if at all possible. ( I think you would have the best results with a no-till type seed) Marc
  11. Re: Oil Filter changing tip: [ QUOTE ] popgun. I'm guessing it has the 3.1 v6. If so, you have to loosen the front engine mounts and rotate the engine forward using a turnbuckle to gain access to the spark plugs. Have fun!!! Cool tip for the oil clean-up. Like Onieda man said, I usually just wipe it off quick to get the most of it. A lil oil just helps keep salt at bay for that, you know, half a square foot of frame... [/ QUOTE ]Bingo on the plug issue!
  12. Re: Power Plant??? It is going in front of my stand within 20 yds for bow hunting. I would hunt over it untill it is gone.
  13. Re: Power Plant??? We tried Evolved Habitat Maximize with sorgum, beans and sunflowers. It was the best stand of rag weed I have ever seen! As letmgrow said we are going with power plant this year.
  14. Re: Biggest Biceps! I won't measure because I may be a lot smaller than most of you and don't want to be picked on. I throw car and tractor engine blocks and cylinder heads around all day long at work so I do have a bit of mass to me. 250 5'10" 32yrs old
  15. Re: imperial clover antler food [ QUOTE ] does anyone use this stuff???? if so, does it need full sun to grow or will it grow in the woods as long as there is good moisture?? also, how do i go about planting it, when, where, how deep, etc..???? thx [/ QUOTE ]Go to the Whitetail Institute web site and look at the Imperial clover. It will tell you everything you need to know about planting clover. I believe they recomend 6 hrs of sunlight per day.
  16. Re: TURKEY TEAM #17 6 Toms behind my house this am. Can,t wait!
  17. Re: Equipment Help!! First question: How many acres do you want to plant? Many farmers will not want the clover and chicory because it will turn into slime so the bailing may be out. All the seed you have listed can be broadcasted so there is no need for a grain drill. As for used farm equipment it can be found everywhere outside city limits. Tractorhouse.com is a favorite site of mine.
