  2. Re: Wis, Rut Since thursday evening Ive had 3 little bucks (2 1/2 yo) out wandering around but no big bucks. Im going out tomorrow morning again so hopefully I can somehow get lucky and get a hot doe to come by my stand. Kyle
  3. Re: Shooting Hours or Seeing Hours??? not gonna lie, if i can see through my peep clearly im going to take the shot. Kyle
  4. Re: How big is a bucks home range depends on a lot of different factors. Out west where its more open they cover a lot of groun but here in Wisconsin and probably Kentucky too they dont cover nearly as much ground. When shining in our area Ive seen the same bucks up to 2 miles apart, but I doubt they cover that much on a normal basis. As far as the rut goes, depends on how many does are in a certain bucks area. If there arent many he will travel longer distances to find an estrous doe. As far as exact numbers I really have no idea, im far from an expert so this info prolly doesnt even help you that much haha. Im curious as to "exact numbers" as well if theres even such a thing for a buck territory. Kyle
  5. Re: Big Daddy is Home!! Congrats Randy, glad to hear someone in Wisconsin is having some luck. Didnt see much at all this weekend for bucks in Southwestern part of the state. Where are you located? How was the buck acting when you shot him? They chasing around your part? Again, congrats, sound like one heck of a buck. Kyle

    Wind Question

Re: Wind Question Is your stand up on a ridge or is it in some type of bottom where the wind will swirl?
  7. Re: Very Interesting morning in the woods yea me neither, she was doing a little calling too. sounds like some type of "honk" i guess is the best way to describe it.
  8. Went out early this morning and only saw 2 deer running through thick cover so I couldnt really tell, maybe a buck chasing a doe? who knows. After seeing those I look hear what sounds like deer coming from behind me so I slowly turn my head to see a group of turkeys coming right at me followed by a big white bird mixed right in the middle. Funny story is, is that my mom has a male and female peacock that run loose outside the house along with her chickens. About a month ago a couple of wild dogs came and killed a bunch of chickens and we thought they killed the female peacock as well. So back to this morning, Im sitting in my stand and see a large white bird. you guessed it, it was our friggen peacock hanging out with the turkeys as if she thought she was a turkey herself. Maybe because we used to have turkeys around also until we butchered them for thanksgiving she was used to them I guess. The wild turkeys seemed to treat her as one of their own so i guess all is well. Dont know if we'll be getting our peacock back anytime soon. Thought this was very interesting. Should of seen the look on my moms face when I told her what I saw...priceless. Kyle
  9. Re: few leaf river pics nice pics, that 7 point is definately a 1 1/2 so id say he has great potential Kyle
  10. Re: Pre-Rut is in full swing in Wisconsin! what type of rattling was your friend doing? sparring or fullout fighting? good luckk this weekend fellow wisconsinites! Kyle
  11. Re: Human urine scent maybe they smelled you also and put two and two together. The only way a deer is going to spook from smelling human urine is if he knew you were in the area or actually saw you pee in that certain spot.
  12. Re: Hope I can get this buck! *pic* hes moving during daylight so id definately say you have a chance at him, great buck. good luck Kyle
  13. Re: RUT REPORT My weekend basically sucked..kind of warm here so maybe that had an effect. Hows everyone else doing? Kyle
  14. Re: 140\" or better.. How many have U seen in your one, and I killed him. Scored 158
  15. Re: Worst luck ever Man that does suck, but thats the way it seems to always work. Stick it out and youll get a shot at your deer. ****, the best time is yet to come these next two weeks anyway. Good luck and stick with it. Kyle
  16. Re: Rub on my mock scrape it was about a 2" diameter tree, so nothing huge but decent sized. Im going to get out again in the morning and see if I can fill my tag. Supposed to get pretty windy tomorrow unfortunately but hopefully theyll be moving anyway. Kyle
  17. Went out and made a mock scrape on the edge of my food plot. Made it under a tree with about a 2" diameter. Came back this weekend to find a buck rubbed the tree that i made the scrape under. Im guessing the buck that did this must have some serious balls so hopefully he's a mature deer. What do you guys think? Think a young buck would do this? Im going to refresh the scrape tomorrow so we'll see what happens. Kyle
  18. Re: Mock scrapes are working well Do you just hang the scent dripper on the overhanging licking branch? Thanks for the info! Kyle
  19. Re: Mock scrapes are working well thanks for the information Tony, Im definately going to give it a try this weekend I think. One more question though...how often do you "refresh" thee scrapes with more scent if it all? Thanks again! kyle
  20. Re: big spike I agree, nothing wrong with shooting a spike but this time if year you never know whats going to come by. If I were you, Id hold out for that big boy as well. Its that time of year buddy, never know whats going to happen! Good luck tho!
  21. Re: Mock scrapes are working well Sounds awesome Tony, glad you had luck with them. IF you dont mind me asking, what steps do you take and what scents do you use while making mock scrapes? Im very interested in trying this around here to see what kind of reactions I will get. Good job, and I hope that 180" comes by..**** its Iowa, it might just happen! Kyle
  22. Re: RUT REPORT Haven't been out in two weeks so i have no clue whats going on. Ill be going home this weekend though from college and hunting so I'll let you know what Im seeing Jay. I think ill give rattling a try in the mornings if its not too windy just to see what happens. Kyle

    Bow..

Re: Bow.. if your price range for just the bow is 500-700 you might as well go with a mathews or hoyt. without a doubt they are the best bows out there. JMHO Kyle
  25. Re: Evolved Harvest Shot Plot Great looking turnips there. Have your deer been hitting them at all yet? Mine seem to have avoided them so far, just wondering if everyone else is having the same results. maybe its still a little too early for them to be hitting the turnips. Kyle
