  1. Re: anyone hunt with a pse firestormlite I'd say its a good all around bow. If I were you, I'd use one bow and stick to it so you know it back and front instead of two different bows. But thats just me. I'd say that it would work well for the ground too. Kyle
  2. Re: Grain question This is when you just "Accidently" order in a shipment of the 4 blade 100 grains and take advantage of it. But seriously, i really don't know whether 90 or 100 grains will make much of a difference. I guess you could alway try them out. The 3 blade 100 grains do work well though, although I'm in the same boat as you and want to try the 4 blades out. Good luck. Kyle
  3. Re: anyone hunt with a pse firestormlite I've owned my PSE Firestorm lite for 4 years now and love it. I've shot a deer every year with it. It's fast and quiet and pretty darn accurate and it's small which is REALLY nice for tree stand hunting and manuevering around. Like bowhunter said it's really easy to pull back and yet has plenty of speed and power. I think you'll like it a lot. Kyle
  4. Re: New Muzzy Broadheads Thanks for all the input guys. I guess the best way to find a broadhead I like is to try them and see how well they fly. I think this year I'll either give the original 4 blade muzzys a try or ill try the MXs. Either way, I think both BHs will do a great job. Thanks again. Kyle
  5. I'm going to be getting new broadheads this year and was wondering if anyone has tried the new 4 blade MXs from Muzzy. Id like a fixed blade that flies straight but if not I think Im going to try the Grim Reaper Expandables. So please let me know how you guys feel about the new Muzzys. Thanks. kyle
  6. Re: What\'s your favorite scent I would have to agree with Jeramie here. I believe we have the same problem here because no one shoots does no matter what...they're waiting for the big buck to show up and it's stupid. Rattling also doesn't work much at all here. Your best bet around my area is to use dominant buck urine over a scrape. The doe in estrus scents are a waste of money..just my 2 cents. Kyle
  7. Re: When to Fertilize? Alright thanks for the help guys. My neighbor who is a farmer said it might "burn" the seed but I'll trust the food plot experts here haha. Plus, it'save me some time if i just do it when I broadcast the seed. Thanks again. Kyle
  8. Dad picked some fertlizer up for me the other day and i was just wondering when the best time time to fertlize it would be. So far I've disced the plot once, so now im just waiting til August to plant it. Would it be ok to fertlize the same time as planting or would that "burn" the seed. I think Im going to plant Whitetail Institiute's Alfa Rack Plus. Thanks in advance. Kyle
  9. Went to where Im going to be bowhunt this year and checked the alfalfa field (which is about 50 yards from my stand) to see what kind of deer were out there. 9 deer total, group of 5 bucks and the rest were does from what I could tell. Im just wondering how long these deer will be feeding in the alfalfa field before moving on to corn or soybeans. Theres also a soybean field on the other side of my stand a couple hundred yards away. SO basically, Im all set. Just wondering where I should except the deer to be feeding, especially when primerut is around, which is usually early November here. Thanks guys. Kyle
  10. Re: How high should my peep be? I think they say about 5 or 6 inches above where you nock your arrow. Thats what I THINK anyway haha. Hope it helps. Kyle
  11. I've been curious as to whether or not the flash from trail cameras scare deer or not? I've read that they do, and I've also read that they don't. So really, I don't know what to think. Give me your opinions, guys. Thanks! Kyle
  12. Re: hey wi deer hunters Basically if you shoot a doe with your bow you can use the tag you get for a bow-buck or a gun-buck. But if you kill a buck then with your bow you need to shoot another doe before you can kill a gun-buck. A lot of people complain about EAB but the number of bigger bucks killed the next season is a HUGE increase..at least that's what we noticed over here. Seems to help a lot. Kyle
  13. Re: 1st plot tilled, smoothed and planted... Thanks for the info VT...never heard of one of them. Im just hoping my seed bed will look anything like that. Nice job! Kyle
  14. Re: 1st plot tilled, smoothed and planted... Vt, what'd your neighbor use to disc the ground? Looks like it was sod...tough to break up or not? Kyle
  15. Re: Tiller attached to Fourwheeler? Yea, I was considering something similiar to that as well but then the tiller died on me so I said screw it. If only I could get my hands on a decent tiller... Kyle
  16. Re: Tiller attached to Fourwheeler? Haha i was considering taking some pics..but when my tiller crapped out on me i got pretty PO'd and took it apart right away. Plus we had a storm coming and it was starting to rain. If i can get the tiller running again I'll take some pics.
  17. Re: Tiller attached to Fourwheeler? Dude im from Wisconsin...of course im a freaking redneck haha. I think I get my creative "talents" from my grandpa for sure. But hey it would of worked if the tiller wasnt such junk. Kyle
  18. Well I had a pretty good idea the other nite so I conjured it up this morning. I have an old tiller that hasnt been used in forever and got it running (not too smoothly though) I took the wheelers and the drag bar off of it. I then tied the handle bars to the back rack of my fourwheeler and tied the bottom part of the tiller to the hitch on my fourwheeler. It actually worked awesome for about 5 minutes before the darn thing quit on me. Doing it this way you dont have to hold the tiller back either. This worked great for me, if only my tiller wasnt so crappy haha. Guess Ill just go rent that disc for $50 a day.
  19. I've been having some problems trying to till up the plot that im going to be planting soon. I can get a fourwheeler back there and a John Deer 400 Mower type thing. We tried using an old horse drawn cultivator behind both the 4 wheeler and john deer but the ground is pure sod so if the blades get too far down the machines wont go any farther. I was just wondering if a 6 foot disc would work better for tilling the ground up the first time. I dont have one, but i can rent one at the local dealer for $50 a day. Im wondering if its worth it, because I dont want to spend the money and then it wont get the job done. Any information you guys could give me would be awesome, thanks!
  20. Planning on planting some clover in August and was wondering how much ground i should dig up. I'm using a rotitiller (spelling?) so I dont really wanna do more work than i have to haha. My dad says I'll probably only have to dig about 4 inches down at the most, if its anything like alfalfa. Thanks guys.
  21. Alright guys here's where I am so far. I sprayed the area with roundup about 2 weeks ago and checked it today and its looking pretty brown. I plan on planting Imperial Clover sometime in August but was just wondering whether or not you think I should dig the ground up now and then let it sit to see what kind of weeds will grow in. And if the weeds do grow back, should I then spray it with roundup again? Any info you guys could provide would be awesome, thanks. Kyle
  22. Re: Broadhead Recommendations Thanks for all the input guys. Ill try tuning my bow this summer with the Muzzys then see what happens from there. I guess you can always learn something new in bowhunting and choosing a BH is definately one those learning opportunities. Thanks again guys. Kyle
  23. Hey guys. I've been using Muzzy 100 g. 3 blade BHs for a while now. They seem to be pretty good but Im a little worried about the accuracy. Im thinking about trying a mechanical BH this season and am curious as to what the best ones out there are. I've been looking at the Grim Reapers and am considering them. If anyone could provide me with any info on them or on any other BH you recommend Id like to hear what you have to say. If you've used Grim Reapers before please respond to this. Im looking for an accurate BH that won't fail on me when it hits the mark. Thanks guys! Kyle
  24. Re: Pic of \'05 buck Yea, they want to reduce the herd around here where I live so you basically get 4 free tags a day..its nuts. It runs from the end of regular gun-deer season til Jan. 3. I shot the buck on Dec. 27th so it was getting pretty close to the end there.
  25. Re: What are you getting new for next year? Scent Lok Whitetail mask, Scent Lok Cap, Insolated Rubber boots, Grim Reaper Broadheads...and whatever else is on sale in the Bargain Cave at Cabelas I guess.
