  1. I live in the Omaha area, and this buck was taken in Butler county.
  2. Havent been here too much lately, but every now and then I still like to pop in and see what others have successfully killed. I shot this buck during our firearms season, and was the first deer I had killed in a couple of years so it felt good to finally get the monkey off of my back so to speak. Didnt get out too much during our archery season prior to this due to work committments, so this was a welcome sight to see just after sunrise after a few long days of hunting. Passing on a hearty congrats to everyone else who has been successful this season, no matter the size of the animal, be proud of yourselves. Have a safe and happy holiday season also! Thanks for looking!
  3. Congrats to you and all the others who have had a successful season so far!
  4. ttt with a pic of him and some buddies. Thanks for looking.
  5. Brought home on Sunday, 03-28-10. From 09 firearm season. Here is a field pic in this thread. http://www.realtree.com/forums/showthread.php?t=93219
  6. According to The B & C trophy watch, there still is not a definitive location of the kill, but has been confirmed to have been taken in an enclosure, therefore wouldn't qualify for B & C records. http://www.boone-crockett.org/news/trophyWatch.asp?area=news#watch5F2AA79E-2058-41C7-BBC6-32D0EC7324B3
  7. Taken on Wednesday 11-18-09 @ 720am. 55 yard shot. Congrats to everyone on all the fine deer taken!
  8. Saturday and Sunday my brother and I saw a LOT of bucks cruising for does at all times of the day. It'll be in full swing here very soon. If you can get out this week do it.
  9. Nice. What part of the state were you at?
  10. Mine was supposed to be in my account on the 9th, but still haven't got it yet...
  11. Ya know, I thought it was just me too. I almost always get gas whenever I eat something with venison in it. Another reason to love deer meat!:D
  12. Had some sloppy joes made with venison burger and fries.:)
  13. Good thing you did'nt shoot a monster, would've been even more expensive with the mount! Congrats!
  14. Good advice from everyone. If you aren't able to brush up your blind or get it where it can't be relatively hidden, try leaving it up for a few days if possible. That way deer can get used to seeing it and not get spooked by it every time they come by. Good luck!
  15. Shot this doe at about 6pm this last evening out of a ground blind. A 15 yard shot and she ran maybe 20 yards before expiring. Gonna be some good eats.
  16. Yep they are thick around here. Just last night I had another 15 or so come by the exact same place where I shot these two. -DW
  17. Went out Sunday afternoon/evening deer hunting and decided to sit in my blind which sits on a fenceline. On our side we have soybeans and on the other is alfalfa. I'm really a deer hunter and don't get too excited about turkeys, but the last few days of sitting in this general area I have seen tons of them. They would come from the alfalfa side to the beans side and at only 15- 20 yards away from where the blind was at. So after my brother zinged one on Fri. I decided what the heck I've got to break in this new bow and what better way than to get some gobblers. Bought a permit Saturday night and then figured that I probably jinxed myself for the rest of the season, but I decided to just put it out of my mind and focus on deer. Whatever happens will happen. Around 5pm, I'm sitting in the blind, listening to the Chargers pound the crap out of Denver, and I hear a cluck-cluck sound. Look to my right and only see one head appear but it looks like he/she's going back to the other property. Go back to the game and maybe 5 minutes later I just look back to my right and there are turkeys just streaming over the fenceline into the beans (my side). Maybe 20-30 total, couldn't count em all. So I hurry up get my bow, and get situated. Turkeys weren't spooked, just milling around at 15-20 yards away. So I lock onto a group and wait for one to get clear and stop walking. One stops- Dead! Perfect shot-only fluttered around for a few yards. The others wonder whats going on and spread out but not out of my range and I get another to come into the clear. She stops-Dead! Another perfect shot. Both at 15-yards and both young birds. I was pretty happy how things turned out- a double my first attempt. So now I got the bug and will definately be looking forward to spring when I hope to get a couple good Tom's. Anyways, thanks for reading this far and good luck to rest of you!
  18. Great buck! What state did you hunt in? Congrats again! -DW
