  1. Re: Which one should I get? I'm an old flint lock guy but I purchase a T/C Omega and can only rave about it. I've tested it out to 200 yards and had great accuracy with it. CVA had a huge recall a few years ago. Most of the gunsmiths I know don't think they'll handle a magnum load very well. Good luck with whichever way you go.
  2. Re: Gander Mountain! I worked part time at a Gander Mountain for a while. You can count on people having good knowledge of the product they are selling. I had to take a knowledge test first. Not the cheapest place in town but usually a the best selection.
  3. Re: On-Line Petition Against The WHA! Please Sign!!! I am happy to sign this and I was number 450. This is the king of all bad ideas.
  4. Re: food plots in indiana? I am in Indiana and food plots are legal. What's illegal is baiting a spot for 10 before you hunt. Baiting would be any attractent or lick. No problems with food plots though. Are you planting just for deer. The NWTF has a program were they will provide seed for food plots on land. There are a few restrictions but not many. Mainly min. acres and such. If you get with your regional DNR biologist he or she can give you tips on what grows best in your area. Don't forget to test your soil. Bad soil can cost you good money. Good luck and happy hunting
  5. Re: P&Y takes stand on WHA This would only fuel the anti's cries against us. This is the kind of thing they are looking for. Hunting is a magestic sport that means way more then killing for contest.
  6. Re: rangefinders?? I have a bushnell and love it. That thing works anytime anywhere. My hunting buddy has a Nikon and does ok with it. He's not had any problems with it at all. I, myself, am a Bushnell guy.
  7. I have been looking at GPS's. Anyone know anything about the Garmin 60c, 60cs, or 60csx. They seem to be pretty close in what they offer. Look to be a good unit too.
  8. Re: 2006 deer contest???? I am a newby and would like to hear more about this contest. I should be able to meet the min. you all are looking for by hunting season but how can I learn more about the contest you were talking about. By the way, I love the forum. To this point everyone has been great.
  9. Re: hunting land I would be very interested in talking to you. I'm very new to the forum but is it possible to send a private message. I would be happy to send you my contact information and if we can work something out I can provide information on people who will vouch for my character. I wouldn't expect you to just take my word on it. What's the layout of your land? If I could ask
  10. Re: Nice Buck In My Backyard Today I have one living in a park about 250 yards from my house. Would probably score in the 170's but of course it's a no hunting zone. One of the prettiest typical spreads I've seen ever. Also in full velvet right now
  11. Re: hunting land I live in Marion county but don't mind driving. I'm sorry but I don't know where Jay County is? Can you give me some towns near by.
  12. Re: If you had a grand to spend... The new Pro Hunter from Thompson Center is under a grand and has numerous riffle barrels that can be added to it. I shot one two weeks ago with a 50 cal muzzleloader barrel on it and it was amazing. They have about 14 barrels in different riffle calibers that can be purschase for it. All purpose gun with all the extras
  13. Re: I am now the proud owner of.... I have one and I have a very bad back. I am able to sit in mine for up to 8 hours without needing to stretch. If you are looking to stay up all day you made a good choice. The stand will last you many years if you take care of it. Inspect it every time before you take it out though. Congrats on a good pick
  14. I am in central Indiana and am looking for a place anywhere in Indiana to hunt. My son is only about 2 years away from coming with me and I'm not excited to take him to public land. I would be willing to trade manual labor for hunting permission. Don't have the money to lease but I do have good work a strong back and common sense. Anyone know of someone needed some help on the farm or hunting land. That would probably make a good website. People willing to work for hunting permission. Kind of a trade community.
  15. Where can I find a place to make a trade. I have four trail camera's I received from Field and Stream for the Readers test poll and I don't need four. I would like to find somewhere I can post a trade for one of two of them for a decent GPS. They are all digital and I have a Bushnell, Stealth Cam, Leaf River, and Moultrie. Any one have any advice
  16. Re: grunt calls Thanks for the advice everyone. I will give that one a shot. It's good to be on board here

  19. Never used a grunt call before. I would like to start this year and there are about 80 million on the market. Anyone have any good experiences with some. I would like to hear which ones work before I buy any.
