  1. Re: One more ? on trail cams... I have the Moultrie 2.1 and used it last year just once for a couple of days. (Got it for Christmas). It worked good, the pictures were pretty clear. The trigger is a little slow so corn(where legal) or salt will be needed to slow them down and keep them around for a minute or so. I was able to get a picture of the doe I shot in muzzleloader season minutes before I shot her! True, you get what you pay for but you still have to buy within your bedget! I'd recommend it!
  2. Re: MOVIE SUGGESTIONS End of the Spear was awesome! Went to see it twice when it came out and we brought it to church back in January! Bring your tissues! Intensely moving!
  3. Re: opinoin on camoflauge I like the Hardwoods HD the best. I used to wear Mossy Oak but I thought it was a little dark and didn't break up the outline enough. It's good stuff because a lot of people wear it and it is effective, but Hardwoods is my personal favorite. The new AP looks good because at a distance, it should make you not look blotchy. Just my opinion. Whatever you wear, you have to have confidence in that when a deer looks at you, you have to believe he's looking through you!
  4. Re: THEY\'RE STRUTTN\' NOW (pics) I'm here in Western Maryland and we open April 18th. Saw some strutting across from work yesterday in a large fields along with some hens. Can't wait but I've never taken a turkey yet. Go out with my buddy and we hear a lot and call but can't get them to come in. I love the challenge so maybe this year!

    cabelas/bass pro

Re: cabelas/bass pro You are right! And I didn't mean to say that Cabela's or Bvass Pro doesn't have good, knowledgeable and personable people to work on your bow. A downside of the local pro shop is that if you do have a problem and can't resolve it, it ends there and you're stuck. The Bass Pros and Cabela's have a reputation and they didn't get it by not treating all of their customers right, including bowhunters! My apologies!!

    cabelas/bass pro

Re: cabelas/bass pro I got my bow set up at the local bow shop and you get to know the owner and he gets to know you. You get to feel comfortable talking to him about what the bow is doing or not doing (or me!). It's just nice seeing the same person everytime and you and your bow get a history with him. I'd feel comfortable at Gander or Cabela's but nothing beats the personal touch!

    BH target

Re: BH target I just finished shooting some fieldpoints at the YellowJacket BH target. Boy, are they ever hard to get out! The YJ really puts a squeeze on the fieldpoints! Switched back to the Block for fp and they came out smooth!
  8. Re: Questions regarding Scent I use HS Deodorant, shampoo, scent spray, clothes wash and keep my clothes in a sealed bag with the HS Earth Scent Wafer. Seems to work, gets me in close to deer (15 ft stand) and they don't pick up my scent. As far as snacks, fig newtons (quiet) and I put them in a sandwich baggie. (also quiet). If I do take snacks in noisy wrappers, it they will be in my pocket, I repack them in baggies before I take them in the field. Also, spray down with the HS Scents spray once I get on stand.

    BH target

Re: BH target I have The Block and my Muzzy's chewed it up pretty bad. I was surprised with all the publicuty about the Block. Switched to the Yellow Jacket BH target and it really holds up good to the broadheads. The Block is great for fieldpoints but I don't recommend it for bh's. The YJ did give up some foam but not nearly the same as the Block.
  10. Re: Room for Christian Outdoorsmen and women Great idea! A great place to honor the Lord. He is the One that created the woods and the deer, etc. and has given us this passion to enjoy it all!
  11. Re: Christsavedme\'s Daily Devotions! I am a newcomer to the Realtree forum but I love the Lord and hunting and fishing! I wanted to share some books that I have read recently that really relate to us hunters. They are written by Steve Chapman and they are "A Look at Life from a Deer Stand" and "A Hunter Sets His SIghts". They really help you to reflect on what is really important in life. He also has two daily devotionals, one is called "With God on a Deer Hunt", I have read that and it is really good and he has a great way to relate things he has seen and experienced in the woods to our spiritual life. He has another one called "Reel Time with God" geared to fishermen and I'm looking forward to reading that one. Just wanted to share some things that will help us to grow in the Lord and really get our attention because of the way he presents them. Blessings!

    Deer Insense

Re: Deer Insense Just got back from my local bow pro shop and he said he uses them and they work great for him. Like other products, others say they didn't work for them. They also have a ThermaCell product out that heats up your favorite deer scent using some type of odorless fuel cartridge.
  14. Re: Gander Mountain! I've always been a Cabela's fan and have ordered from their catalog but the nearest one is nearly 3 hours away! I've been to several Gander Mountain stores out of state and have found some good quality camo clothes at pretty good prices. The archery depts. seem well stocked but I haven't had any interaction with the personnel yet. We have one about 1 1/2 hours away and I''ll be visiting them soon. Hard to compare with Cabela's though!
