  1. im still here, not getting to hunt much now, did have a incounter sunday morning though. new the time went back, that wasnt the problume, just so happen not to remember with the time going back that day light would come earleir to, well i went to my hunting buddys house to get him. we went to the stands around 6 on sat, didnt get day light till 715, he said he wasnt sitting in the dark that long tomorrow so i went to get him at 545 sunday morning, told him it looked like it was already getting daylight. he said na it was just bright outside and he wasnt going today, so off to the lease i went. got there well after day light and as i was walking in about 50 yards from my stand a 6 point picked his head up from eating my corn, sees me and rans off only to my surprize about a minute gos by and i hear 2 shots. knowing our ml season just ended. i thought man there pouching over here. i just walked back to my truck and texed my sister to see how they were doing, and told her what had happened, she than informed me that youth season was this weekend, just as this truck pulls down the line beside my lease and theres. he stops i walk over to see them and behold theres a 6 point in the back. there inside the truck sits a boy id have to say is 10 with a smile fom ear to ear. after a brief visit, i walked away thinking god used me to make that boys day.couse had i been in my stand when i should have been i would have got it
  2. thats a lot of meat there congrates, i can give us 5 more points killed a button buck this morning, soon as i figure how to get the pics off my phone and on here il post it
  3. same here, mid to high 60 at nights, than getting back to the 80s during the day, took off monday to try to get a 3 day hunt in. but its going to rain again all 3 days. will be the second weekend to get rained out, well hopefuly it wont be like last weekend, i stayed to long in the stand and thought i would drown before getting back to camp. got it about figured out though, thunder, thunder thunder, than all is calm, then the wind, than time to bail and hope i get back to camp. but we will see what this weekend holds for sure.
  4. well the 2nd weekend has come to an end, 1st weekend seen nothing at all. this weekend seen a little more. got rained out sat morning, sun morning had 2 does come by about 80 yards wouldnt come any closer to the feeder, this evening had a doe and a baby fawn come in to the feeder, couldnt do any thing but watch them. the fawn must have been a late birth couse he still had all its spots. hopefuly cooler weather is on its way and will get them moving more.
  5. 2 more days left and than i'l be in the stand, going to pull the chip tomorrow to see whats happening. when you got 4 leases its hard to pick the one you want to go first
  6. nice doe. true about the points. our season opens the 28th, spent all weekend finishing up the hard work. put in 3 food plots, hung bow holders on all stand, filled up feeders, now it just a waiting game.

    Technology

yes technology is advancing, in almost all of hunting, my first set of camo looked like a pine tree, now look at all the patterns out there.we can see farther, shoot farther, my fisrt stand was only 8 ft off they ground now its 20 or better, but all the technlolgy cant make a peson a hunter, it takes time afiend and years of the ups and downs learning how to hunt to be a hunter. and i too mostly bow hunt, but do use what technolgy i can to help me, in stead of shooting flint i use a shwacker, instead of trying to guess what yardage its at i use a range finder, the good techonogy im for, the computer stuff im not,
  8. man good luck on that moose, that should get the freezer full.
  9. great post, so many hunters dont know how so very importantant it is to make sure your safe going up and coming down and when your in the stand, some of us are so lucky to be alive after falling from a stand, i can have imbathey with that hunter, i too fell from a stand at 20 ft breaking my wrist in 2 places and 3 ribs. that ended my season for the year also. being we are some of the fortunet ones that can tell about it, we should be the watch dogs on informing hunters on the importance of saftey.
  10. i would agree, the deer in the area are used to looking up at that tree, i think a ground blind brushed in might be the ticket on those deer. once they become educated i think they school all the other deer to look there. my rule of thumb is if i get busted in a stand or climber, if possable il try to take out the deer just to keep it from educating other deer.
  11. checking in also, hope we all have a good season.

  14. i just bought new arrows to hunt with this year there gold tip ultralight 500 at .5 grains per inch. i seem to be having a problume with the ones i have been using to pratice with. them seem to take a wagon wheel circle on the way to the target. they hit where im aming but looks weird the way they fly, i can take one out of the box that i will use to hunt with and the will fly fine and straight.
  15. me too on that matter, if he doesnt own the land and you both have permission to hunt it friendship or not id hunt it when i wanted to, and i can under stand the friendship thing, i have the same thing on some land i hunt, but theres another thing letting him bully you into thinking you cant hunt it, mine is becouse the friend would much rather kill a deer on it than allowing me too. one is becouse we are always in competion to see can kill the biggest deer
  16. i have used the corn coat, and the powder. like wtnhunt said mixed reviews. it works for some and not for others, all i know is my deer eat it.
  17. i have to agree with jeramie's reply, most of us that have hunted for years, knows to stay as sent free as we can and hunt the wind. its like the scent cloths on the market that clame to help hide our scent. nothing is going to completely hide the human scent, so to me its just something someone came up to make money.
  18. i have a few in mind, but im going to let my trail cameras tell me what one my best chances are.
  19. glad to be back, thank ya'l
  20. the same. smoked him. ive seen a number of shows where they say that, and clearly you can see what a bad shot it realy was, than they say we have reviewed the footage and seen where the shot was to far back ect. crap with some of the shots ive seen them make reviewing the footage shouldnt have been even considered. or making a great shot knowing the deer will expire with in a hour tops and than saying will back out and come back tomorrow.
