im still here, sorry about not chatting to much, between work and spending the weekends at the leases. havent had much time. haveing a great season so far seeing lots of deer, just seems like things arent working out to hot for me, have had thee shots so far, 1 i hit a limb, 2 i missed judged the distance, 3 we carry i walkie talky with us so we can call on one another around the lease and sat night my sisters husband said something, the radio was in my pack at that time i had a doe coming in. than i hear my sister say i think he's[me] got it turned off. im franticly trying to get to it to turn it off. just than the radio gave out a loud peep peep. i turned my attention back to the doe and she has my blind peged, shes slighty qourtering to me at 30 yards i get drawn and know its now or never i let it fly. leasoned learned never shoot a aluma nock at a deer thats looking at you, never seen a deer get so low so fast, the arrow flew over her by a foot, but im haveing a good time and still have plenty of it to go. -
they will tell you and its in our lease papers that they are in the pine tree buisness and they can cut and spary or do what ever they feel they need to keep the pine trees healthy. when they arent messing with us we normaley have a good hunting season, one of my last leases was 129 acers, they cut all but 49 acres and the only reason they didnt cut it is becouse they cant cut 50 foot either side of a creek. besides they cut your lease you just find another.

a paper company, this morning there was a helicopter sitting in our camp site along with 2 tanker trucks. when we got to talk to the people they said that they were going to spray the lease with a chemical that would kill all the hard wood trees and other broad leaf plants, being we lease what can one say. when we told him that three hunters have food plots in verious places and asked him if it was possable to void them. you could tell by the grin on his face that they will get an extra dose and be wiped out. the con of leasing..

well team it started out horrable, 2 deer in three days. they arent coming to the food plots and they arent eating the corn. had a yearling come flying into the food plot on sat for about 1\2 a sec and ran out, knew she didnt smell me or see me and than about 30 sec or so a yote came flying threw hot on her heels. the 2nd deer i seen was after dark crossing the road as i was leaveing the lease. still early. -

well folks its getting close for me, if any of you love to hunt like me its getting like chrismas, visions of the buck running threw my head, restless nights thinking is all my stuff together. about 57 more hours and il be on stand. -
a guy on a few leases from me told me he puts out pears to attract his deer. never heard of it, but went on a pear hunting mission. around here i dont think many people have pear trees, but did find 2 places in ok that had a tree in each yard. i asked if he ate them and he said no. asked him if i could have a few and only the ones on the ground would do for what i needed them for. if gave me a walmart bag and told me to take a couple dozen. the next house had a tree loaded with them, he said take all that i wanted, filled a small box up. the thing that i was wondering is does any one use them and does the wasp and yellow jackets keep the deer from wanting them.

congrats, way to start the season. 15 days and ours starts. -
i have to agree. some times theres just no time to range.so being able to judge some distaces helps. but theres nothing like getting to practice on a living target, and if you have a few of these running around it makes praticing so real, you get to go threw all the motions that you would if you were deer hunting. and if you lucky you get to draw first blood before deer season. and make sure your fundamentals are working right. i shot this one sat evening.

sskybnd 51 sept 15th to feb 28th -
we get 2 extra weeks to hunt here in ark, season starts here sept 15 and runs till feb 28th, thats 166 days of hunting.
-
i'l be hunting what acorns fall this year first, than corn, rice bran and roasted soybeans, the trick is to get it while you can afford it and ton of bulk corn is going for 380.00 a ton, and will fill up 6 55 gal drums. rice bran and roasted soybeans run 9.75 a bag, its never been cheap to feed deer that ive found ive seen the price double last year on corn alone so my plain is spead what i have now out over the year.
-
sounds like your right on time, 7 weeks till your first frost, i could only hope it would cool off here than. were still in the 100's to the high 90's with very little rain. that and im still working on my last plot area, been working most of the summer cutting the trash trees out, carring them out, and just now got it to where its ready to put the lime down.
-
thats what i would do also, they might go back to check on them closer to the season, and seeing them gone gives them a chance to relocate them, if they want the stands and you a piece of mind that theres less of a chance of a confrontation when season starts.
-
it never left my mind. been working on new food plot areas, moving stands around, trying to get all the hard stuff done before we get in the 100's

we have the same here, 3 point rule, and one thing we dont worry about is to many deer. we do have a good deer herd. and let me say this if you get to see a good buck your lucky. couse most people shoot any buck thats leagle.and like the rest i wouldnt bash another hunter for killing a smaller buck. but i am a meat hunter first, opening day the first one that gives me a shot hopefuly gets to come home with me, but its one thing to have 4.5 to 5 year old bucks running around to where you could pick and choose than just to wish you did. As for the over population in the areas that are, i beleave in the earn a buck, but there are so many orgaizations out there like hunters for the hungery ect.. that more hunters could get involved and kill to birds with one stone. lesson the herd and feed a family at they same time. so wither it be in an over populated area or not or your prevrence is a mature buck we still try to manage the herd.

not yet this year, getting new arrows this year. every deer a shot last year broke my arrow. so im thinking on getting the victory 600 apc there 0.4 grains heavery than the ones im shooting now. and getting the vendeta bow range finder. and to be honest im not looking forward to the long process of resighting the sites
