    soft mast

my friend has 2 pear trees loaded down with them, think if they make it from the birds and squerrls might be worth thowing some on the ground,
  2. should have listen to you wnthunt, when you told me to plant beans, i planted 2 plots 1 in exstream, and the other in no plow, both are doing well but not a deer track in any of them, think i wasted my money with those seeds. still have 3 to go but i think i'l wait till fall on them
  3. that sucks, but i guess if it had to fall i would much rather it happen long before season started, and i had time to adjust the area . than fall during season, might make for a good ground blind location now.

    soft mast

i was reading an artical in the whitetail wisdom book, and they were talking about early season hunting deer around the soft mast, ive never hunt but the acorn mast, i dont think we have any soft mast still around by oct, just wondering if any one hunts the soft mast and what they hunt by, if you live in the south and you do, maybe you can tell me what to look for in the area of soft mast, we have very few apple trees around here.

    one year here

congrats bud, now they will just fly by.
  9. i shoot the 3 blade 100 grain muzzy, and think im going to shoot the swhacker broad head this year, i seen a show the other day on the prusute channle that matched up other broadheads on three diffrent tests, one they shot threw a metal barrel, many of them lost there blades going threw, the 2nd test was they imbedded a deers shoulder into balstic gel some didnt make it threw the shoulder, the rage broke off a blade going threw the gel, but did however go threw the shoulder, the 3rd was they set up a plywood board at an agle of 60 deg's many just glanced off the board and broke blades, In no way am i promoting any broad head, i was just shocked at the results that they were ubtaining threw the tests,
  10. im thinking about trying to film my bow hunts this year, have been looking at bow mounted camreas, quite a few on the market, but not sure what one would be best, any one use one or could point me in some what of a direction,
  11. great pics john. you do have the touch buckee.
  12. was at the lease today finishing up the box blind we just put up, i walked around looking for another place to put up another stand, was thinking trypod or a lock on, but realy want to put up another box blind, well as i was coming home i ran past a truss plant, and out side were 3 stacks of 2-6's they were 10ft,16ft, and 20ft all had 50 boards per bundle, so what the heck i thought ,stoped in and asked them what they wanted for the 20 ft's, i was only looking for around 10. but they wouldnt sell them board by board and said if i wanted them i would have to buy the whole bundle. how much i asked and they said $3.00 a piece, not bad i got 50 20ft 2-6's for $162.50. now i can build a few more box blinds this year.
  13. i have to agree, there are people that need help but they have agancy's that can help them, some just want to fool the crap out of you makeing you feel that they are in real need, i seen one , and his sign said will work for food. i told him i would pay him to help me clean my yard, mow, rake and weed eat, thought i what the heck i get some help and he gets some money for food, he told me no thanks and moved to the other side of the street. people like that makes you want to beat the crap out of him with his own sign. every now and than i still give knowing im realy not helping but makes one still feel nice evry now and than
  14. i have 5 food plot areas, one is already planted in extrem. I want to plant something for the spring and than for winter. looking for some kind of suggestion, that might carry me till the fall planting, or plant part of it for spring and the other half with something that might carry me threw the season,
  15. always nice to see a big boy make threw the season, he'l be bigger next year

    Pointing fingers

i have to agree, it was alot more interesting when you could take a friendly jab at some one with out the fear of some one yelling foul. when i got in there seemed to be way more people willing to help someone out with advice, and was like one big hunting family. maybe we need to get back to the realtree moto, family, friends and the great outdoors. and stop being so PC and start having fun again.
  18. for the past 6 weekends ive been getting things ready for this year, i put this foodplot in by hand chain saw, cutters and rakes, right now this plot has extrem planted.its just now starting to come up. but being it took so long i thought i had better get some help, i did. made things so much faster and now i have 3 plot sights in one area, looking out from my new stand. and being i had some free time and not so much hard work to do thought this would be a good place for a box blind. this is the before look and the i'm almost done look except for the windows and getting the roof on.
  19. nice looking mount, for sure
  20. around here a 120 to 130 would be a monster, but like texan til i die said if you have big deer around you you can hold out for the big boys, if not you take what the area has to offer.
  21. congrats on the buck, folks dont count me out yet still after it, have till feb 28th to get it done, should have had a doe sat but sting hit my jacket couseing a bad flight just nicked her leg,
  22. i would give myself a 3 on entry, i never worry about the exit, ive only shot one deer quartering to me, a quartering shot is not a shot i feel comfortable taking, a broadside shot is my shot, as long as i can put it behind the shoulder a few inches, i know i'l find it.
  23. im so glad for you, with all that tinastity you have, it was sure to come, i hope you get that buck now
