  1. Thanks guys. We were thinking 4-5 as well.
  2. I'd try some type of sealant..Thompson Water Seal should do the trick.
  3. Finally got a better pic of the buck I previously posted. Not too worried about the score, but need to know the age. Thanks, Dave
  4. Rossi .223. Some will say it is not enough gun for deer, but we shot three this year at our deer camp and none took another step. I like the 69 grain bullets from Black Hills. Shooting less than 1" groups at 100 yards with the little Rossi.
  5. Set out the cams to see what all made it through. This is the first guy to show up. I know the pics aren't that great, but was hoping you guys would at least guess on the age and score. We are thinking 3.5-4.5 and around 140, but not sure. Thanks, Dave
  6. Was able to harvest this buck last Sunday evening as the storms rolled into Eastern Oklahoma. There was a break in the rain from 4:00 to 4:45 on our lease, and this 10 point was up on his feet during that time chasing...acorns. Was happy to take this buck, especially given that I was only able to hunt a total of 4 days this year...total with bow, muzzleloader, and rifle.
  7. Totally agree with that statement. How two-faced is that. While I agree the kid probably needs chemo, the government should not have a say. Where will this end? Who's to say that the government won't intrude in other aspect's of your parental rights...start telling you what to feed your kids, what activities your kids can/can't do..etc. The list could go on forever.
  8. congrats...he sure was sneaky....glad you finally got him
  9. i'll second Quaker Boy calls...my favorite was the Ol' Boss Hen....easy to use and very versatile.
  10. been following your progress in the turkey forum....looks like you are getting him patterned pretty well....hopefully the rain lets you get in close....dang pesky hens.
  11. Good luck in the am Ruth....can't wait to see pictures of that ol' gobbler in the clear cut.
  12. Not 100% homemade but pretty close. I had an older molded head jake decoy that looked really rough. So after I got my turkey this year, I decided to skin it and attach the skin to the old deek. Spray foam insulation was used to fill the cavity and the skin was attached with vinyl adhesive. Taped an old jake beard to a nail and pushed it into the foam for the beard. The tail is that of the decoy. The decoy's legs are 3/4 pvc. I used a pvc "T" to attach the legs to a square piece of plywood. I then attached the plywood to a "lazy susan" for motion. There is about 20 yards of string attached so I can control when the deek moves. We are going to give "TK" (tom killer) a try this weekend. Hopefully I can provide pics of the victims... on to the deek. Deek Day of kill: date on damera is wrong. Killed on 4/6/09
  13. and I am expecting to see your pics in 2 1/2 days...better make it 3 days to give you time to post the pics...you gotta be getting pumped....tick..tick..tick...
  14. I have quite a bit of luck getting the birds to cross those types of obstructions later in the day. Once all the hens are gone, your odds are greatly increased. Anywhere from 2:00 to 5:00 would be a good time to try and get them to cross.
  15. got my vote too...not sure why...just love watching him..
  16. Rio Down 3whunt smoked turkey: team 10 not sure why the camera is showing two days early...have to get that fixed...
  17. I sure did. Looks even better on the wall.
  18. looks great.... and we are on the board....got a 21.8 lb rio yesterday at noon. 9 inch beard and 1.25 inch hooks...what a day...the temp was 37 degrees as was the wind..I can't beleive he could hear the calls. anyways, I'll get pics up in a day or two....
  19. All three of the below bucks were shot within 8 hours of each other during the 2006 Oklahoma Rifle season in Push county. I am in the middle, my father is on the right, and family friend is on the left. Mine scores just over 130" and dressed 135 lbs. Just found the old Kodak and decided to scan it in and share with everyone.
  20. lynch's fool proof or K&H ol' yelper
  21. knight and hale guy here....I use the ol' yeller slate and the ol' yelper box. the few times a year I use mouth calls, it is always the Ol' Boss Hen by Quaker boy....have used that mouth call loyally for the past 15+ years. I use a haydel crow call and the hoot flute owl call....
