  1. nice...looks like a good body buck
  2. congrats...when you find him...throw up some pics.
  3. Fellas / Ladies, I bought a bottle of Tinks 69 new product - Scrape Activator. I saw it the other night while watching Buckmasters...read up on it on the Internet...and went and bought a bottle of it last night at Gander Mountain. Anyone else using this product to activate some scrape or mock scrape sites? Let me know...thanks.
  4. fellas / ladies, I live in Western, PA (30 mins from Pittsburgh) and haven't been seeing much in the form of activity yet. Anyone else seeing anything? I mean...I have found some rubs and early scrape sign...but no chasing or heavy daylight movement yet. Most of the "big boys" I have been seeing at night...with a spotlight...well after dark. Any insight from hunters in my area is welcome.
  5. real nice buck! congrats
  6. wow...the deer you have harvested look healthy as well. Good eatin'
  7. Fellas...when do you guys start putting out Code Blue or Tinks over scrapes or mock scrapes?
  8. I have a set of Scent lok and Scent Blocker...and I think at some level they work. I call other precautionary efforts as well...but I have had deer dead down wind...and they never spooked.
  9. fellas / gals I am heading out in a few weeks on an Elk bow hunt. For those of you that have hunted these majestic creatures, what type of carbon arrow would you recommend?
  10. I shoot what my state game laws allow me to shoot....which is 1 bucks and at least 2 doe (with purchases of tags). Additional doe tags can be purchased at the court houses. I am sure game laws are obviously different in different states, but in PA...you can't just freely blast does to correct your buck/doe ratio on your land...unless doing it illegally and not within the gaming laws. The only exception, that I know of, is if you are a farmer for a living. Even still, you have to have your farm in a "red tag" crop/land management program with the state...and the state sends the farmer a certain number of tags to provide to hunters...the harvest still has to be tagged and reported.

    New Land

nice...good luck with it. Share some of the harvest with the landowners so they let you keep coming back.
  12. both of those deer are young. I'd pass on them for a year or 2 for sure. I don't think either would score real well. Remember...deer look bigger in velvet.
  13. middle eastern countries have a significant amount of money invested in the US Stock Market and economy. Thus, unfortunately not doing business with these countries is never going to happen. When it comes to oil, yes the US could drill in other areas of tap into our own reserves. Just follow the all mightly dollar to the end of the crooked rainbow...there you will find an old white man in a business suit or a middle easterner in a white gown...both getting rich!
  14. Question: Do most of you have your stands already hung in the areas you are going to hunt or do you wait, scout for rubs and scrapes then start hanging stands?
  15. best investment you'll make!
  16. thanks for all the insight. I shoot Muzzy's now and have been since I started archery hunting years ago. By the sounds of it...I should stick with them for my elk hunt.
  17. thanks for all the insight. I was looking at some Leupold's the other day.
  18. fellas / gals I currently have my Remington 7 mm at a gunsmith being completely redone. I am looking to put a nice new scope on it for this coming deer season. What scope (brand / model) would you kind folks recommend for that caliber of gun?
  19. Fellas / gals I am heading out to Idaho on my first ever bow Elk hunt. Pretty pumped up! My question is this...should I stick with a fixed blade broad head or would a mechanical (like say a Rage 2 blade) be a good broad head to use? I know elk hide is thicker than a deer...that is why I am indecisive at this point. All input is welcome!
  20. Fellas / ladies, I am going on my first (of hopefully many) elk hunts next month in Idaho. I am really excited! I wanted to see if anyone had any recommendations on a high quality backpack that I should invest in for an elk hunt. Please let me know...
