Steve-yours is the most unique of all. Mine is from my racing days (mini-sprints)- BR=Blue Ridge Racing Components, side business to fund the program, 44=car #.
  2. Keep an eye on the scraps, the bucks check them closer instead of just downwind and also to freshen them up because of the rain. Has worked for me a few times.
  3. Just had a chance to catch up on things-NICE ONE hoosierhunter!! Congrats!! Report from me- 1st day out=Nov 1st/am=2 doe. /pm out of the stand at sundown, seen some feeding in the field between me & truck, so I held up not to spook them. The one was heading in my direction, once it was silohuetted seen nice tall perfect 8pt. Had time where I could have pulled the string, but, don't like to push my luck,(distance 50yd) especially on this nice boy. We'll cross pathes again. 2nd outing- Nov 8th/am Windy!! Seen nothing. /pm, in stand at 2, around 3:30, decided to get to the ground, to much tree sway to try to do a shot. As I'm getting ready, guess what-MR8 appears out of nowhere 50 yds away. To far, to much wind, he trots away & back into the woods. 3rd outing-Nov 9th/pm-Seen nothing moving. Thought that since it was windy again, just set up a ground blind. (would have only been 25 yd shot on MR8 if he showed at the same spot=NO LUCK. Might get out Thursday pm, if not, looks like Saturday for firearms.

    H A P P Y B I R T H D A Y !!! To one & all!!
  5. Glad to hear everyone had a good time and got back safely. Like I always say, "If you meet all your expectatons/goals, that leaves you with nothing to do". For me, just getting away from society for just an hour or so, does the spirit good, and being in God's county for a week cleans it up real good.

I still say to check on the equipment used to process also, there could be some particals coming off them, especially the grinders.

  8. They put up 86 of them here a year ago, I can look out my back window & see them. There's another 300+ going up to the southeast in the next county. From what I heard, all the electricity from the 86 has been sold and goes to Texas. Someone asked awhile back what I thought about them, I said,"it's real nice in the summer, they put off a nice breeze, keeps things cool."
  9. Went out in search of stand placement Saturday (25th). To windy Sunday to try to hang anything. Got back out Wednesday to start. Just in that short period, several rubs have been made. Went out this morning, had 1 doe close (35yds) & another down a ways in the field. Finally had to get down for the morning, kept nodding off (late night at work), better safe than sorry. Might do a afternooner.

  18. It was a wonderful trip & experience. Beautiful country & people. The guide spotted a cow, calf, & bull on a mountain side about 2 miles away, so I dressed down so not to get over heated and off we went. We worked our way along a river (brook), then turned upward thru the tucks. BOY!! that stuff is thick! At one point while PULLING myself thru, my rifle sling snapped in two. Now, I have to work my way thru, plus carry my rifle. We snuck on to an open area, seeing a cow & calf eating, but no bull. After afew minutes, they noticed us and started moving back up the hillside. My guide was like "good, the bull might notice them moving & follow". Nope,,, so he said, I'll move around to the right to see if I can spot him, he might be bedded down, if he shows, shoot. I had my rifle propted on the safari sticks in the direction that me might take (route cow & calf went). All at once there was crashing of brush straight out in front of me, I see it's a bull but I check to see where my guide is first=well off to my right, look back for the moose, can't pick him up in the scope, dial back the power, there he is, quartering away, pick a spot & squeeze. He lunges, turns goes about 15 yds and stops full broadside. I'd followed him thru the scope & actions the rifle so when he stopped I fired again seeing him lurch + hearing the impact. As I actioned another round, he swayed then fell backwards. I yelled to the guide that he was down, he had to make his way thru the tucks over to the bull where he gave me a big thumbs up. Only thing, it wasn't the original bull we has spotted, it was somewhat bigger. But,,,all in all, it was a blast of a hunt, I got meat in the freezer, and have made super friends.
  19. I think that could be the one my uncle's (actually married to my 2nd cousin) brother was lost in. I know they've talked about it a few times, he was around 10 yrs old when they came up missing. I'll have to check further on the story.
  20. Gave it up, only caught cubes.
