  1. Almost didn't go out Saturday because of the 15-25mph winds. Glad I did.
  2. Nice bird hg- I finally got my first one Saturday. Was trying to set up a pix on here but not having much luck.
  3. "This thing bucked so hard I just fbit the aend of fmy thongue!"
  4. I trying to get things lined up for my 1st trip out of the US (Newfoundland), and am needing to know exactly what forms & permits are needed to get any meat back into the US. I have obtained some info off the internet but am asking upon my fellow experienced hunters for further. 1. I'll be flying. 2. According to Air Canada, it can no longer go as excess baggage, will have to go Air Cargo. 3. If it is coming in via Air Cargo, (my understanding), you will have to do a Prior Notice to obtain a permit number for entry (no more than 5 days & no less than 4 hrs prior). Any added information will be greatly appreciated!
  5. Well, finally the RCM ammo is available from Hornady and suppost to be available from Midway tomorrow, so hopefully, I can have some type of report soon. Did shoot the "African" the other day, REAL NICE, true safari style, off handed-open sights, did OK (I'll take it).
  6. Will be picking up a African Saturday, couldn't pass it up for the price ($700). It's for the next adventure (safari) hopefully 2010.
  7. Set up a Newfoundland moose hunt for October this week, can't wait for this trip, 1st time for moose!
  8. Went out the other day and bought one of the new Ruger Hawkeye's in 338 RCM. Going to give her a try on a Newfoundland moose hunt in October. Nice and short, sights real quick and easy to manuever.
  9. For Sale- 1 (one) Super Elite turkey vest, size XL-2XL. Hasn't had much use (had since 2004), used twice 2004, 3x 2005, 0x 2006 & 2007. $45 tyd.
  10. Seems to be quite a few people interested in the 5mm again. I have a couple guys asking bout mine (591). Stout little cartridge, they were used alot with the fox hunters, not much pelt damage. Like strut said, more umph than the 22 mag.
  11. Hey Strut, thanks for the thread! I'm still trying to get the camera back from the boy so I can get some pix to post. I haven't been sittin' around getting stir crazy this winter though. Got the BIG itches for a trip(s). Started with the idea of going on an African safari, she's a calling, but I think it's seeing the new Ruger 375 that's out that started the craving. Will have to have one of those for that trip. Then, all of a sudden, I got the rekindled hankerings for a Canadian moose hunt, OH, I'll have to get & try out one of the new Ruger 338rcm's for that trip. Hardest thing was deciding which one first. Of course, will have to get both rifles to practice first! Pretty certain the moose hunt will be the first trip, and probably next year. I will update on the shooting tests once I get things up & going.
  12. Hey muggs, what area ya at? Can't beat a day of winter steelheadin'! tying up some extra flies now for a trip in near future, glos, meths, spawns, wooleys, kilowats, & ripple crush. Can't wait.
  13. Where in blue blazes is all this taking place? I might have to go visit this area !
  14. Man, I love catching northern, that must have been ONE fun battle! What is it , about 45"+?
  15. Might also try mckenziesp.com, they are actual suppliers.
  16. Super Pix=those will last ya a life time!! Congrats!
  17. Have a jacket and a vest, they haven't fallen apart or faded. Haven't put them thru any tough paces though.
  18. I've used Hornaday XTP 240gr hp, taken deer out to 50 yds no problem. Have also used Win silvertip hp but in 357 & on coyote, they also work real good. Which ever works best and you feel comfortable with. GOOD LUCK !
  19. I used Tink's once, the deer would spook when they got close. Best results was with Code Blue, had a buck following the trail (used a drag) right up to our ground blind.

    What a crock!!!!

If you have a tracking # and have tracked it to a certain point, there is proof right there that they have lost them. Print a copy of the tracking info and go (by TX) to the highest person you can with the complaint. Hint= you might have to hang on the phone for a couple hours. And don't back down!!
  21. Congrats grizz!! That's how I always looked at it at the end of a season without getting something=will have to try again next year. Sort of keeps a person going.
  22. My thoughts, 300 WSM should cover all 3 bases (deer, elk, and should moose). Pretty much the same energy as 300 mag, recoil like 30-06. It will reach out to 400yd easy. Make sure you put a decent scope on it also, and USE premium loads when hunting. Hope this helps. GOOD LUCK!!
  23. Midwayusa.com has them in their catalog pg.290, also on their website. $4.19. Also, sometimes these parts are interchangeable with other brands.
  24. Hey hangunnr! Picked an Encore up bout a month ago. Mounted a scope on it, took it to the range, and the scope would adjust vertically. Got another scope and gave her a shot. Not bad! Alittle more kick than a 44. Learned one thing, grabbed a pair of shotgun shooting gloves to wear, they're not tight fitting, and at one point I didn't have a good grip when I fired and instead of the gun pushing back into the crook on the hand, came back more into my thumb. Yeeeaaa to say the least, joint and tendon of thumb hurt for awhile. Next time=no gloves or tight leathers! Other than that, lookin' forward to deer season !! You got the 458 tuned & ready for the season? One of these days we'll have to get together! Catch ya later!
