I was just thinking. In the middle of winter when everything is froze up, and there is very little green feed left for the deer, where do deer get water? Do they survive off the water contained in twigs and evergreen needles?

I need to replace a few older hang-on stands. Are there any stands on the market that do not have padded seats? The squirrels seem to love them and I hate sitting on a wet seat as I leave them up for the season.

Re: getting started I'd suggest you hire a good, quality guide. If you tell them that you are new to the sport and want to learn, most of the guides will understand and help you. Ask lots of questions. Waterfowling can be an expensive hobby. The list of gadgets, decoys, calls, goes on and on. A couple hundred bucks hiring a quality guide may just be the best money you can spend. Good luck!!
