Skeeter Killing Chili Here's my favorite. 3 lbs cubed sirloin or venison, cut in 1/2" cubes salt to taste 1 Tbs black pepper 1 lg onion, diced 3 cloves garlic, chopped 3 stalks celery, chopped 1 can beer 1 qt spicy vegetable juice 3 Tbs red chili powder 1 Tbs cayenne pepper 1 Tbs dried basil 3 Tbs cilantro 1 tsp fresh ground black pepper 1 12 oz can tomato soup 1 4 oz can chopped jalapeños 2 16 oz cans diced tomatoes with jalapeños 1 16 oz can red kidney beans 1 42 oz can spicy hot chili beans Garnish chopped onion shredded cheddar cheese sour cream sliced black olives corn chips

I think I just puked in my mouth a little... But, here's one. 3 rats 10 garlic bulbs (yes, the whole thing) 2 gallons of water (may as well get it from the same pond as the rats) Slice up about 3 lbs of onions (stronger the better) About 10 of the cattail roots (yep, same pond...) Mix all together and throw in your favorite pair of old wore out hunting boots. Simmer until the leather from your boots is soft and somewhat cutable. Throw the rats away. Serve over a bed of fresh cattail greens... enjoy!

I've been givener' for 6 1/2 straight days with little to show for it. I've seen a number of smaller bucks and a couple 2 1/2 year olds but no shooters yet. It seems like the rut just shut off or they are in "lockdown" here. I have a few more afternoon hunts but my mornings are just about gone. Back to work for me tomorrow... P.S. The fat lady ain't singin yet!!!
