Thanks Todd. Kansas City area.

Thanks MCH. Well, i hadn't found my second arrow yet and since i usually carry 3 you can guess i missed a big one the other night. LOL. Hadn't found anyone local that was carring the Rage 2 replacement blades so that is why i was down to 2.

Hey guys, Well i connected on a decent 10 pt this morning with my bow. It was the first frost we have had and it was great to be in the woods. Before daylight was even upon me i had a button buck walking all around my tree. It might have been the same one i decided to stalk up on the other day just playing around and got to 15ft from him before he seen me. He didn't get spooked, but just kept eating and looking at me trying to figure what i was. It was the closest i have ever been to a wild deer. At 7:15 i had an absolute giant come by me at 45 yrds but i just couldn't get myself to take that shot. He was a 12 pt with probably a good 20" of spread. 20 minutes later i look up along the creek and see this buck along with a smaller buck with him. Below is a pic from just after i seen him. He comes right along the edge of the field till he gets to a trail that is 35 yrds from my climber. I kept trying to decide if he is a shooter or not knowing some of the other bucks that i have seen. Once i seen he was going to take the lane and knowing that i only have 2 days left out here i decided to take the shot. Once i released i seen the arrow bury itself right behind the shoulder. Perfect Shot. Punched right through the center of the heart and the deer only went 40 yrds. Now it is time to get my butt to IL and see what the rut is doing there. Good luck all. Picture of buck coming ...... Picture of buck once he has gone.......

Good luck. Remember, when in doubt "back out". Don't know what the weather is there, but if you need to let him lay overnight i would. If he gets pushed that means you will need to give him another 6-7 hrs before you get on him. I have pushed some big deer in my life just to not be able to recover them later. Good luck and hope to see some pics tonight. -

Hey guys. Scored on a decent 10 pt this morning. Seen an ablsolute giant but he was at 45 yrds and i didn't want to take that shot. Debated on taking this guy, but he was just too good a buck to pass up. I will get him posted later this evening for points. Going to head to IL to hunt tomorrow. -
Congrats. Wasn't messing around were you. LOL.

Great pics and story

I have hunted MI for years and don't really know if i agree with the rule either. I just don't think you should be made to buy both tags at one time or you are out. I have always bought the combo, but that is only cause a friend was working the counter the year it started so he gave me all the info before i bought it. Something along the lines of maybe it costing more money if you buy them seperate may be better. Who knows?

During the rut ithe deer really don't care about the wind. It may make them move a little slower because of the things that might spook them, but they will still move. I did not go last night, but that was because it was 30+ mph and all my stands are pretty high up. In another week, i would have been out there no matter what. Weather looks pretty good here in KC for the rest of the week.

Hey Steve, I hunt mainly in Jefferson County on Rend Lake ground and we have a lease in Palasky County. How about you? Bobby -
Great buck. I would think he will go low to mid 140's. Very nice 8 pt though.
-
Had alot of deer showing up to the horns the last couple of days. Start now, but keep it short and sweet. Not to many going at it hard these days. If you see a buck that won't come in try a little sparing with the horns. Works good this time of year.

I would have to say in the mid 120's also. Nice buck. -
Keep at it. Sounds like you have him on the right track and will fill that tag just shortly. Be sure to keep us updated.

Well, as you guys read in my prior post i have just got permission to hunt some nice acreage. Well i was out last night and had to let probably the biggest deer i have ever let walk go at 15 yrds and closer. I got out at 4 and saw my first does around 5pm. Had them all around the bottom of my tree eating the leaves off the osage tree i was in. Below is a pic of the first doe that came in but i couldn't get my camera to quit blurring. Gotta get a better camera for in the field. About 40 minutes later i had a nice little 10pt come in at 15 yrds and closer and hung out around my tree for over a half hour. He finally walked away right at dusk along with a nice mature buck that stayed out to 60yrds. Couldn't get camera or binocs up to look at him since the buck in the pic was 5 yrds away from my tree. The best i could tell he was a great 9pt or he was a 10pt that was broken up. Hopefully get a closer look this evening. Going to sit same stand. Sorry the pics are a little blurry. Here is a look from my stand looking torward the bedding area and where all the deer had come from. The Doe at 10 ft from my tree. The 10pt buck at 15yrds from tree just passing shooting lane. He was broadside perfect a couple of times in the lane.

Great buck. Congrats. True trophy to be taken with a recurve.

Hey guys. Had an interesting sit last night. Hadn't had a good evening stand, but think i have found it. Got in the stand around 4pm and around 5 had 3 does work there way past me. Had a couple of the does right under my stand and could have shot all 3 of them at any time. Didn't want to take any does since i had been seeing all these good bucks. Well about 40 minutes later had the nice buck that is in the picture below walk past at at 15 yrds. He hung out around my stand for about 30 minutes and had numerous shots i could have taken. Since i had been seeing all these other mature bucks i decided to let him walk. Probably would have been in my top 3 of bucks i have ever taken and i decided to let him walk. Never thought i would have the option to let a 10 pt walk. Going back to the same stand tonight. I did see either a large 8 pt or a broken up 10pt that came by at 60 yrds. I couldn't get my binocs up to look at his rack since the buck in the pic was about 5 yrds away from me. Didn't want to get busted. Still looking good. -
If it werent for bad luck, Id have no luck at all...

Wow. Definately a good time to get down and call it a day. It's amazing how it always seems to be something that goes wrong when the big boys come out. Just give it a little break and i am sure it will pick up good for you. -
How My IL bow season is going so far (long story)

Hang in there man. Sounds like my year last year. I could put the does on the ground but something always happened on the big boys. -
Yeah. I already offered him money and a lunch and he said no to each. I did clean up some garbage that someone had dumped on one of his pieces of land and put it in our construction dumpster. The least i could do to help keep the land in good shape for him.

Nice job on your first. You will never forget it.
-
Awesome pics. I think the white velvet on the ones rack is cool looking.

Looks nice. Congrats
