  1. I will say one thing. If you are going to pay the money to go see a race and you only have one to choose from, Dega is the one i would choose (So Far). We are planning on going to Bristol next year. Anyone ever been? Seat Suggestions?
  2. Jr fan here. I like Tony, but rules are rules. I guess i haven't seen an article that didn't say he wasn't below the yellow line before he got there. Everyone knows the pass was illegal, but they are going off the rule that they thought it was ok on the last lap. Now i do agree that there was a NASCAR worker that did say it on past show about a truck race and that is where most of the confusion has come from. I guess we will just need to disagree on this one. LOL. I am not saying i agree with NASCAR on most of there choices. I just think they got this one right. Now if you put a big name in second and Smith in first and i will not say that NASCAR will not make a different decision. I am sure if Jr was in second i would have a total different opinion on this. LOL. JK. I also think that if Tony was trying to block Smith and he would have gotten spun then he deserved it. That is a chance you take when trying to block someone.
  3. My family has you in there prayers Mike and we wish the only best for you and a good recovery. It shows that even in tough times you need to make your family and friends first. Todd, I will be sending you out a check ASAP.
  4. I was just following the track of the hat and read the past couple of posts. I was laughing when i seen the question for what the money was for. Looks like Tominator missed out the chance for a cold beverage of his choice. LOL. Steve, Be sure to get us a pic of the hat once you get it. Bobby
  5. You are correct. He does say that he purposely blocked him coming out of the turn. I did not see anywhere in the column that it said that he " ran " Smith below the line. Talladega, like many tracks, is a track where if you are in the lead you don't have the run coming off the corner due to the air pushing on your car like the guy behind you using your vehicle cutting through the air. Your only choice is to block whoever is the driver trying to make a run on you with the bump draft of whoever might be behind him. The rule says nothing about when blocking someone if they go below the yellow line then you will be black flagged, it say if you force someone below the yellow line you will be black flagged. I say we take out the pavement from below the yellow line and see if he could make that pass in the grass. That area is there for the safety of the drivers and not as a racing surface. Tony had all the right to try and block for the lead and if Smith was not such a rookie he would have realized that he needed to make his pass at the top and that a experienced driver was not going to give up the bottom. As for what videos i have been wathching.... I was sitting in turn 2 and watched the whole thing happening. Here is a column that you might want to read. It pretty well sums up everything i have been saying since the " illegal " move was made. http://www.nascar.com/2008/news/opinion/10/07/cross.words.talladega/index.html
  6. When me and my brother went on our guided whitetail hunt last year we became good friends with one of the other guides at the ranch. We actually spent evenings hanging out with him a couple of the nights. We discussed this with him and he said that he usually likes to see 10%, but also knows that some people save there money for a long time to be able to afford the hunt and a $20 tip means alot from those people also. We ended up tipping 15% because we had the best time of our lives.
  7. Great pics. I went to Dega this weekend for the first time and it was a blast. Been to a few other races in the past and we are actually talking about going to the Kansas race next year along with Bristol.
  8. I will have to agree with smoke.14 here. You can clearly see that Smith had his right side tires below the yellow line before he even got up to Tony. I keep hearing everyone saying that Tony forced Smith below the yellow line and that is totally false. Tony did put and keep his car on the bottom of the " LEGAL " part of the race track to hold off Smith's run. Is that forcing anyone below the line? NO. Smith forced himself below the line when he did not make the decision to go high or to back off the throttle. If he wants to make that decision to just drive up the rear end of Tony and wreck him, like a few others have said, well lets see what happens when those guys get to bristol and wonder why they are spun out of the way.
  9. I may be in the minority here, but if you go onto NASCAR's web site and look at the still photos from where Stewart was when Smith was coming up on him to where he was when he was under him he is in almost the same spot off the yellow line. Does this mean that he came down a little before Smith got there to block his run, well probably, isn't that what racing at Dega is about. You will also notice that Smith had his right side tires below the line before he even got to Tony. I was at the race and our seats were in turn 2 so we had a pretty good view of the situation. Smith could have tried to pass on the outside, but knew that pass could not be pulled off with the conditions that day. He could have also decided to lift and take his second place, but decided to continue his run. That is why he tried to go under Tony hoping he would come up the track a little and he wouldn't have to stay below the yellow line throughout the pass. There were a few guys out there that thought it was ok to pass below the line, but Smith didn't say anything about that until after he tried to plead his case that he was forced below the line by Tony. Now, i don't know if i agree that he was moved all the way back to 18th, but rules are rules and they are there for a reason. In my opinion it was a good race. Didn't like Edwards getting a little to aggresive in the middle of a turn and taking out Jr, but i don't think it was on purpose. Edwards appologized and said he may have been a little aggresive.
  10. I was at Talladega and got a call about it. Couldn't believe it. I have watched the video a couple of times and still can't believe the guy did it. I think he will be back though. It looks like it was more Kimbo coming in that the guy hitting hard. Have seen him take alot worse hits than that.

    Poison Ivy

I will get my little brother to get on here and let you know what the doctor prescribed for him. He gets it bad every year and he just started going to a new dr and the good thing is his new dr is a hunter. He prescribed him a cream that worked faster than anything i have ever seen. Surprised he hasn't been on here.
  12. Nice looking buck. Those antlers stick up pretty high. Bet he looked good coming in. Be sure to post a pic of the euro mount once you have it done. Congrats.
  13. I grunt ever time i am in the stand. This time of the year i use a young buck grunt with a little higher pitch to it and usually blow it 3 times pausing each time like a deer would to see if anything would respond to it. Make the grunts short. Probably like you were counting to one thousand one. It seems to work good for me every year and had a 140"+ class buck come straight to me at 12 yrds last night, look around, and then walk back to where it come from. Bad thing was the old wise one was able to stay behind a layed over tree and then walk away using some branches as a guard. Amazing how they can do that. I don't rattle this time of year. You will probably only get some young bucks that are wanting to play. Hope it helps.
  14. Thanks guys. I don't know about those ground blinds Flintlock. The area where i am hunting is pretty thick and i would have to cut some shooting lanes to be able to see. It also gets dark inside those things so early. LOL. I hunted with my dad in one last year hoping to get a shot on video, plus just to spend some fun time with him, and when we got out of the ground blind when it was too dark to shoot it felt like daylights. I kinda like my tree stands, plus i am usually pretty high up and don't get busted very much. Like i said, i made some shots last year that were not the best shots and my goal this year is to only take a shot that i "know" is a fatal shot.
  15. Well i seen my first mature buck of the season tonight. Had a 140"+ 10 pt 12 yrds from my tree. It was so tempting to take any of the numerous ok shots that i had, but i was waiting for a good shot before i let a arrow go at him. He came in walking directly at me and then left following a tree and its limbs like he knew exactly where to walk. I made a couple bad shots on mature deer last year and i didn't want that feeling again. It is amazing that they can come so close to you and walk away and never present himself for a shot. I felt pretty good that i had the nerves to pay attention to my shot placement and not just trying to stick a arrow in the animal. I am going out again tomorrow and with the cold front coming hopefully he is up and around again.
  16. Well guys i got out tonight after the rain and wind all day. I was 13 yrds from a 140 - 150 inch 10 pt and couldn't get off a shot. He was a awesome buck and just came in directly at me, stopped on the other side of the tree and walked off the only way i could not get a shot. Made me sick to just watch him walk away. I could have taken a couple of possible shots, but i was playing it smart and didn't want to just wound a awesome buck like that. He never knew i was there so hopefully he will come back tomorrow night. Anybody else seeing anything?
  17. Congrats WI. Glad to see we are on the board. I went out a couple days last week and didn't see very many deer. There is still so much corn up that it is crazy. Seen a few does and a couple small bucks. I may try and fill a doe tag this week after work. Walking out of the wood on Wednesday evening my little brother did notice a group of bucks hanging out on the edge of a corn field. Said there were 2 bucks in there that were 130" plus deer. I was a little busy this weekend in Talladega watching the race so i didn't get in any hunting. It was worth it though. I will post some pics on here this week to show our seats. Good luck guys.

    IL Lease

It truely all depends on what the land has. Fields, Woods, Pasture. I would say if you could get it for $10-$15 a acre i would probably jump on it. That is if it looks like a good piece of land. We lease a piece of land in Southwester IL and we pay right at $10 per acre. Don't be surprised if it is much more though.
  19. Nice sick day. I plan on taking a couple of my own later this week. Congrats.....
  20. Well guys. It's almost D day. IL opener in 2 days and i am ready. It will be a little different since most of the corn is still up. Usually it is has been cut for a couple of weeks already. We have seen a couple nice bucks and have a pretty good plan set up for opening morning. Looks like we will be getting a nice little cold snap for opening day also. I have a hard decision to make for the weekend though. Either hunt or go the Talladega race. Still haven't made up my mind. Well, good luck to everyone and hopefully we can get one on the board.
  21. That was the first thing i thought about saying. LOL. I would say 105" - 110". He has decent tine length along with good main beam length. A little more mass and he will be a dandy.
  22. I would have to say in the 155 range net.
