I had a pretty good case of target panic myself. I did alot of the things mentioned above and it helped a lot!
This could be just my goofy head, but I switched from a single pin to a multi pin sight and that helped me even more....again all mental.
Just got back from checking a camera at the property, and had 3 different does (that were bedded in the shade) stand up and watch me walk by 100yds from them.
Isnt it funny how they know its not deer season yet!?
Wow only 66 days left till it opens here in WI??! Dang I better start gettin my stands moved..
A minor set back for me already this year, I just dropped my bow off at a local pro shop to get it fixed. I guess the new strings are only supposed to last 3 weeks:mad:...not really the strings fault, my guess is the knucklehead who set-up my bow put a knick in it and I didnt notice it:hammer2:.
Yeah, take a look in the photography room, lots of nice lookin critters in there so far including a few from my camera....Cant wait for Sept!!!
I also believe it has little or no effect on deer. I try not to, but have had to go from the stand, with no bad experiences. Its probably not something they smell often so one would think it would make them more alert, but it doesnt seem to.
I agree...if its on your property, do what you want with it. The person was trespassing and didnt belong there in the first place! Last season the neighbors had a wooden ladder stand on the property we have permission to hunt(and they dont). The ended up killing a deer from it and trespassing further in doing so. I told the landowner he said to tell them they have till the next day to get the stand out of there....well they didnt so I had a nice bonfire a few days later:D:D
Good luck with them stands..hope they turn out for you!!! I dont see a problem making your own stands as long as you do your homework.
Whether you make your own or use an expensive store bought one, a safety harness should always be worn...no ???'s asked!!
Yeah, but then she would have to fall out of the boat, fight with the electric motor, step on lures with bare feet, fall of the dock, and hook herself in the face just like Bill Dunce...I mean Dance. :D
I know alot of the farmers around here (which probably aint real far from you) have the same problem, we need a season on them dang Cranes!!
Strut, that really is too bad they ate it all already! I agree that is sounds like you have one or two too many deer around there. I didnt realize how easily deer can keep a plot mowed down until I fenced off a bit of my clover plot....it was 2x as tall as the rest last year. Good luck with whatever you decide is plan B!!
Had someone attempt to steal a stand, I think, not sure what they were trying to do. I got to a stand one afternoon, and it was hanging sideways on the tree. From the ground you could easily see it was chained on and padlocked, so why they would even attempt to take it without a bolt cutter is beyond me..??
Based on how you know what happens if you shoot a younger buck, and you say you got this one, Im guessing he was only 3.5y/o:D:D
Since I would have to play by the landowners rules, I think I would pass because he dont look over 3.5y/o to me.
Playing by MY rules....2nd red from bottom and let'r rip!!!
