  1. I had a pretty good year. Non hunting wise My wife and I welcomed our new twin girls Jan 2007. Took a great trip up to Canada fishing with my Grandfather, Dad, and uncle. Caught the biggest bass I think I've ever caught and several nice norther pike. All and all had a great time. Graduated college (better late than never I guess) Got a nice raise in pay. Hunting wise. Season started out slow. The property next door (I used to hunt until it sold two seasons ago) is now hunted hard. Had not had one deer in bow range. Gun season started and I decided to take my shotgun (I normaly bowhunt) Shot my biggest buck to date 153" 10 point 20 inch inside spread, near 250lbs dressed. Took a 16 year old to the same stand the a few days later. He had a buck at 35 yards. Buck feaver got him though and he never got the gun up. Just watched it walk away. Took the same boy out for Muzzle Loader season. Nothing in range but saw plenty. We also had 30+ turkey walk beind us (40-50 yards) Got some on video. Very cool!! Took my oldest daughter out during ML season (last day actually) I heard a buck grunt and then heard them moving our way. Saw the deer at 25 yards. 2 does told my daugter to take the lead one and then saw the buck. A nice 8 point around 100" She was up and ready and had her sights one him. Unfortunatly the design of the ML saftey was a bit hard for her to take off. When I moved to do it for her the does (now at 10 yards) spooked. The buck was only at 15 yards. Bow range. It was and awesome hunt even though no shots were fired. That was it. I didn't head out again that I can remember. I know I had a blast and can't wait for bow season to arive to get the kids out first this year.

  3. ouch!!! I've forgot that myself. never got a ticket though. I better watch it. I only drive about 3 miles to the checkin station though,
  4. I think some of those old does can be harder to kill than a big buck at times.
  5. "Tennessee hunter fined $7,500 for breaking state, federal laws " Heres my problem They still refer to him as a hunter. He's a poacher not a hunter.
  6. I totaly Agree. Good point and I agree here too. I guess my thoughts were when I started this is everyone is different. Their area, hunting situation, and experience makes up thier perception of a "monster" When I started hunting an 8 point...Any 8 point was a monster to me. Today I can tell the difference between a younger 8 and an older one. So the younger one isn't a monster buck to me anymore. Can you realy define a "Monster buck" NO not realy. Some people hunt in areas that produce Big bucks alot more often or have much denser deer populations and big deer are the norm. Other areas have much greater pressure and the big bucks either don't hang around or don't get as old and big. I'm actually supprized this thread has gone this long. Just thought it may be interesting to see what each persons dream buck was for thier hunting situation.
  7. Both are super bucks. Congrats!!! Right up there with any moster buck on any video I've seen. It's funny when I shot my buck this year I knew he was big but when I actually put a tape to him I realized that they make the bucks on those videos sometimes look bigger than they realy are. In person my buck looks nice. He scores 153" but it just seemed smaller than some I had seen on the videos. You can make them look bigger with the right camera work. .....But in reality it doesn't matter. If I pull the trigger on one its a trophy to me. I'm never ashamed of a deer I shoot or I won't shoot.
  8. if you want email me the pic and I'll post it for you. [email protected]
  9. clark22, I totaly agree. Any deer you take is a trophy. I am that way for sure. I have antlers from my first buck on my wall a small forkhorn. My first buck and shot with a bow off the ground from 20 feet. It actually bugs me a bit when people almost apoligize for posting a picture of a "substandard" deer. Or one that "isn't the biggest" ...etc. My point is If you aren't proud of it don't kill it. Be proud of every animal or don't hunt in my opinion. So to me no deer is not a trophy they all are. However, Some bucks are just big and big for your area. So hence the "monster" name. Be that lots of points, lots of mass, old age, big body. The only thing the BC score is give me an idea comparing it to other deer I've seen.
  10. Its funny I haven't been on here in a while. I come back and the second thread I open has my name in it. Wierd!!! LOL Great buck Congrats. Monster Oh yeah for me thats a super buck. Love how wide he is. And an old buck like that is smart too.

    Bad Robot?

Supposed to start back up in Feb. Love the show. The writers strike has delayed them I think. I heard the show has 3 more years on thier contract.
  16. Man if you win you got to keep us updated when you go. Take lots of pics and give us the story. Congrats!! Get that paperwork done.!
  17. I've never been ice fishing. It looks like fun. Once you get that shack up anyway. The kids looked to be having a blast too. Very cool.
  18. I saw a dog do something like this on Americas funnies videos years ago. It was a smaller dog but man was it trained well. maybe not as good as this one but whe I saw the post I thought of the other dog before watching the video. Skidboot is cool! Man I wish I had a dog that well trained. Very neat.
  19. Now that makes sense.... Nope I'll never remember LOL Seriously though. I know your supposed to try and replace them every year. I know I did last year sometime. It just seems one usualy catches me before I remember to do it. And its ALWAYS in the middle of the night. I never would pull them unless its only until morning so I can sleep. Plus we have 4 within 6-7 feet of each other (hallway and three bedrooms) so We are covered even with one unplugged. In fact we installed a couple in the basement when we built a couple rooms down there. They are wired into the others as well. I had a 9v so I just swapped it out last night after figuring out which one it was. Somehow I managed to do it in the dark without waking up the babies. Today I get to head to the store for 8 more batteries.
  20. caught an hour of it. Not bad. The thing that kills me is how wore out the people are in the ilimanator(SP?) By the last half they look beat. Its like a two minute challenge. I'm sure it would kick my but but I haven't exactly tried to get in shape for it like you would if you got chosen to be on. Still I like the show. Liked the old one too. it may be a bit cheesy but its still entertaining.
  21. Ok after laster night I have a question. Why is it that smoke alarm bateries only run low (and start that annoying churp) iun the middle of the night!?!? Then it takes a while to figure out which on it is. And of course it was the one in our 11 month old twins' room. LOL Why is that?
  22. These storie make me so sick. As a father of 5 I cannot understand how anyone could hurt a child. They are so helpless even my 7 year old cannot realy make it on her own. Much less any younger than that. I cannot imagine anyone just saying "accedients happen" Prayers on the way for the older child.
  23. Things will get better I promise. I have 5 kids. 4 girls and a boy. My boy just turned 5 and two of my girls are almost one (twins) My older girls had very little of that. My boy however tried my patients more than a few times. I can remember several times we were out and he refused to get in his carseat screaming at me "Bad Daddy" it crushed me. But he is sooooo much better now. You'll get through it just take some deep breaths and then deal with it. You and your other half should support each other with disipline as well as take over if the other is getting pushed a little to far. Good luck with everything.
