Just remember it is state ground, you might not be the only one watching this area, ever notice any other cars parked around that area or footprints? I have scouted state ground around our area and thought I was the only one around only to find out later that there were a couple of other guys hunting the same area. I try and hunt state ground during the week and avoid weekends, opening days, etc. As stated in an earlier post If others are hunting near that area I would learn to pattern those hunters and learn when they are entering and leaving the woods. It doesn't take a deer long to learn when people are entering and leaving the woods. Glad to see another hunter from my neck of the woods, I live in Frostburg. Good luck

I shoot with a WB and have no problems with blazers. Rodney

I have a Moss. 835 and a Rem.870 both in 12ga. In my opinion, and this is just my opinion, the Remington is a better gun. Both of them shoot great but the Remington just seems like its more solidly built. Rodney

Anyone have one of these targets? Opinions? Thanks

Tom, thanks for posting the recipe for the homemade minerals. I'm going to give that a try this year and see what happens. Rodney

Shelf life of seed products

Thanks for the responses. -
If the container, bag, etc. has never been opened, how long would a seed stay viable? The reason that I asked is that our Southern states store has some Whitetail institute products on sale but I know that they have been there for at least a year or so. Thanks Rodney

As long as you are a responsible hunter I will not bash any legal form of weapon you choose. We are all fellow hunters, no matter what we choose to hunt with. Our numbers are declining in some states and anything that can be done to increase those numbers is fine with me. Just my 2cents. Rodney

I have noticed alot of smaller bucks this year with broken or completely missing antlers. I have a few trail cam pics from summertime and many of the bucks didn't have 2 antlers to start with. This year it seems like there are more 1 horns running around than in years past, if it is a mineral problem wouldn't these 1 horns show up every year? Rodney

I've used the lumenock for 2 years now, I had to sand the end of my Axis arrows a little to get a better contact point for the nock to light. After doing that I have never had a problem with them working. Its nice to be able to see them and have an idea of where you are hitting, the only drawback with the lumenock is that if you shoot through an animal and your arrow hits something hard and the nock backs out from the end of your arrow the light goes off and its hard to find your arrow but other than that I wouldn't go in the woods without them. I'm going to try and make some of the homebrews after season this year, a little easier on the wallet.

I've seen a few videos on youtube about it, looks like it might take a little bit longer to work up the ground well.

I shoot 28" Axis 400 arrows out of a 60lb switchback XT, I have used the Muzzy MX4 and Slick Tricks. Both shoot well, the slick trick is more compact than the muzzy mx4. I have always used muzzy 4blades but wanted to try something different this year and tried the slick tricks with the 1" cutting diameter. These are the only 2 broadheads that I have experience with and would go to the woods with either one and feel confident. Rodney

I can see where you would think that, this is what I'm talking about. http://www.mossyoakbiologic.com/Scripts/prodView.asp?idproduct=76&section=store

Anyone use it or know someone who has? I'm looking for something to use with my ATV on some remote areas of our property where we can't get a tractor to. Rodney

Mine smokes a little and has an odor, but if the deer get downwind and smell the thermacell they are going to smell my scent as well. I wear scentblocker from head to toe and do all the things I can to destroy my scent but I don't think there is a product out there that can destroy all of your scent. They do keep the skeeters away. Last week I was in Dicks sporting goods and they had a summitt viper on sale for $189. I have a viper and have no complaints, easy to hook up to the tree and climb, very comfortable and secure.

Our lab was 8 weeks old when she came home with us, the breeder we purchased her from gave us a piece of the blanket that she used for the mother and the pups to sleep on. We put that piece of blanket in her crate with her toys and her new blanket, when we put her in the crate we would give her a small piece of her favorite treat, close the crate door and leave for awhile. At night when it was bed time we would put her in the crate and give her a treat, turn the radio on and go to bed. She would wine for a little bit then go to sleep, I would get her out after a few hours and take her outside for a bathroom break then back in the crate and a small treat. She would wine some more then go back to sleep, this last about 2 weeks, it was hard to ignore her but we did. We never used the crate as punishment, and still don't. The crate door is always open and most of the time when she is sleeping she is in the crate, she is almost 3 years old and now we don't even close the crate door when we leave, I guess we are lucky because I've heard some stories about what labs have chewed on while the owners were away. My wife and I have work schedules that allow one of us to be around the house most of the day and our dog is never left alone for more than 3-4 hours and we spend alot of time with our dog doing various activities. I think that is the main reason why our dog doesn't destroy the house when we leave. Good luck with the puppy!!

Could be a black bear, I have seen a few trees around my part of Maryland(Western) that have had claw marks similar to those, find any hair around that tree?

I use them all. Honestly, I think I have way to many pieces of camo clothing!! Mostly use Realtree AP, Mossy Oak Treestand and Predator Fall Grey and a leafy type suit that I'm not sure what pattern it is. I believe that camo is second and being able to sit still is first. Rodney

I just put my new scoutguard out in the woods, I tested it around my house and everything work fine. Quick trigger speed, infrared but you still see a red glow when it takes a picture at night, night shots not as good as some but better than others. Daytime pictures are great, very compact, about the size of your hand, I purchased the bearsafe box to go with mine, remote control outlet is a little tight but I'm sure it will get better with time. Do search on scoutguard camera and check with all the dealers, some are offering package deals with free shipping. Haven't heard much about customer service, hopefully I will not have to worry about that for awhile. Rodney

Longbeard, did you try one that was not in its package? I haven't been able to try one that was not in the packaging, I've tried at least a dozen different ones in the original package and everyone of them sounded different, some better than others. I wish I could try one out of the package and see how much tuning they need. Gander Mountain used to have several opened calls for you to try before you buy but I guess that got a little pricey for them, last time I was there I asked the man working in that area if we could get one out of the package and try it and he told me that they don't allow that unless you buy the call. I guess I could buy one and if I don't like it I could return it.

Thanks for the response, I think I'm going to buy one and see what happens. Rodney
