  1. Consider sitting on it until she finds a mature buck with a nice cape and junk rack. Harvest it for the meat and cape. I prefer the cape to be self harvested myself. In addition it motivates me to harvest a mature buck I would otherwise pass on. I think a mountain mike mount require one to cut the antlers off the skull which I would never do. I'd leave it as is but if she doesn't like the look you might do something like this if you go this route and wait for a self-harvested cape. Regardless of your choice congratulations on a fine buck.

    super bowl picks?

No clue but would like the Broncos to win so I'll predict Broncos 28 Panthers 24
  4. Sorry for jumping the gun - I forget about some of those southern states. Sounds good to me - best pic, best deer, and best story.
  5. Pretty sure the season is over for everyone at this point. There were some awesome deer taken this past season so congratulations to all the buck slayers! My vote goes to Tim (MUDRUNNER). The main beams on that giant were incredible.

    Antler Sheds

I'll probably go out again later this week and that will probably be it for me. I don't spend too much time shed hunting, but when I do, I drink dos Equis.
  8. Love the antler configuration on a mature axis. Looks like a fun trip.

    Antler Sheds

Took these prior to shed hunting this AM. Looks like the 1.5 year bucks shed first. First two are the same deer.
  10. Nice! Found these this AM.

    2015 buck

I upload my videos to photbucket and then add the link. Here is one I did last year.

    Would you...

If I were to donate and had a check box for a calendar I would click - no thank you. I get a couple each year and while some have great pics they still go to the recycle bin. I think the mug is a better idea. If I am donating to a cause I want to know about the cause and would prefer a nice deer on the mug with the logo as well. Perhaps the logo on one side, deer on the other. In addition I would have multiple animals to pic from as some guys are just duck hunters and others just deer. If I supported the cause I'd give 25 and click yes to the mug. I would REALLY have to support the cause to go 50.

    2015 buck

Congratulations! Of those two - I would have shot the first one that gave me a clean shot! If I had the opportunity to shoot either at the same moment I think buck number two because the mass looks about the same as does their age, but buck 2 has better G-3's and is a little more symmetrical. Both look like they be in the 120 class.
  14. Thanks William and txsbuda. That's a great bobcat! I've always wanted to hunt these critters but it hasn't been legal until the 2016-2017 season. Still, there aren't a bunch of them so it will be tough.
  15. That's it for me everyone. Ended my season yesterday with a coyote. It's been fun. The countdown to next season has begun!
  16. My second coyote (30lb male) - this morning in the rain. Normally I wouldn't have went but I tend to have good luck on birthday. I saw zero deer this AM but heard some coyotes right at daylight. Figured I'd call to them later before heading home. About 8:30am my deer hunt was over so I used a light 10 second rabbit in distress mouth call then silence for 5-10 minutes. Then a loud rabbit distress call for 30 seconds. About 10 minutes later here he comes looking for breakfast. Great way to end my season. Next year I'll be looking for a bobcat when IL finally opens the season.!
  17. It's been a while Ruth but if you run into trouble and can't get what you need from your teacher I'd be happy to help. I think you'll find that basic stats is not that difficult (granted you have a good teacher that knows how to teach online).
  18. Do you have different stats classes to choose from? If so find out which one is generally taken by nurses and take that one. Teachers will often design assignments for the student type they generally see in the class. This will make it easier and more relevant for you. I assume it will be an entry level class and include basic things like frequencies, T-tests and ANOVA, You will likely need a statistical software application with SPSS being the most common and user friendly. However, it isn't cheap so hopefully you get it through the school or at least at a discounted rate. The best advice I can give you is to make sure you have a good understanding of the content before you progress. It's pretty easy at first but gets more difficult each week and builds on previously covered material. Good luck!
  19. Very true Bob - the shot was back a couple inches and at only 20 yards I should have had better placement. The hole seen is the exit wound. The entry hold is seen below. The deer was slightly quartering to me, but enough to make a drastic difference in entry and exit. She ran 50 yards, stopped and fell over dead within a minute or two. I didn't bother to check the liver when I field dressed her but I'm sure that is why she died so quickly.
  20. Great pic William. Bobcats are not common in my area - this is only the 3rd one I have ever seen. 2016 will be the first year IL will have a bobcat season. Hunters can take 1 in a year - I'd love to get one to mount next to my coyote. Eagles are so cool to watch. I saw one feeding on a small deer a couple years ago. The dead deer was in a cut corn field about 100 yards from a road. I assume it was hit by a car but then again I imagine an eagle could kill a small deer. I've never found much in the woods - I sure have lost a lot of stuff though.
  21. Over the years I've seen some pretty cool/odd things including an areal combat fight between a hawk and eagle over a trout the hawk had swooped down to catch from a lake. This year had some surprises as well. 1. While archery hunting on public ground I saw some smoke on the adjacent hill I had my stand in. Then I saw the fire and guys in yellow coats burning the forest floor. So much for that hunt. 2. Owls are very quiet and good hunters. However, this one kept trying to swoop down on a squirrel but was not successful. Is it a BARN OWL? 3. Yesterday AM while in the deer stand I saw a bobcat sneaking out of the brush into the cattle pasture. Seemed odd until the rabbit I never saw took off running. The bobcat was fast and took it out with one bite. Within seconds the bobcat walked back to the brush with the rabbit in his mouth. Pretty amazing how fast the bobcat killed the rabbit. The entire hunt (from the time I saw the cat took about 20 seconds). Unfortunately I didn't have time to get my camera - but this was where it happened.
  22. Hey Tim don't feel bad - looks like I'm the lone entry for team 2 this year! High ho silver - away. LOL You're right, it is fun but it is more fun when team-mates post more regularly with updates. I may have as many posts on other teams threads than my own. Ha!
